The list was fun to play and fun to build - and im pretty sure that for pure troops 10 chariots is the biggest unit you can make, so it will remain the biggest bus ever muhaha . (its all about the swarms though)

The size of the unit is also somewhat of a challenge, as an example it simply cant get a downhill charge - the hills are to small to cower half the foot print.

I wisely got a testgame with the list thurday evening (where I was tabled), but it still took me a couple of games to get into the list. My opponents was also somewhat confused about the list and while that is a good thing it also creates a time problem I had 2 games where I only got to play 5 turns and left 10-12 point on the table because of it.

I think it is a good list, that with practice and a little tweaking good become really good. But as CorkyDK deservedly has the UD spot on the Danish ETC team locked down I will leave that Tweaking to someone else and try to find a new broken unit to exploit.

I am glad i do not have to play that list - to me it is still a very bad list - with 3xBroken as hell unit to make up for it

So now after TEC I can say that I personally did really poorly. But Tom Uden, the terracotta player came in 4th place.

Personally I don't feel that this was really due to the list being very weak, but rather mistakes I did during the games. I felt like I was in every single game I played, and could win. But not playing for 2-3 months before the event wasn't the best preparation

. The potential of the chariot star list is huge but it isn't very forgiving.

Overall I felt like I was perhaps lacking in the scoring department slightly. The ambushing skeletons had to be used as chaff most of the time instead of claiming objectives. It's quite tricky to utilize the scoring of the chariotstar when you have to position it carefully to get the big charge off. When the objectives are off on a flank most of my scoring was neutered.

As to what I would change, I'm not sure. The Pharaoh was a fluff choice, not really performing much better than a Nomarch. He acted as a bit of a deterrent for people charging the chariot unit. But when push came to shove, he just fell over vs anything half decent. I think the dread sphinx was great for its psychological impact, it didn't kill any big monsters but it always had my opponents really worried. Perhaps it would be better to run two, making it much harder to be dealt with.

Yep, unlike most deathstars if this one doesn't charge it loses a lot of it's teeth

Oh but when it charges! The glory, the ecstasy! I think the craziest was charging through an entire HBE army in 2 turns. Took off an ancient dragon on impact hits alone.

Perhaps the vulnerability could be mitigated somewhat by running a Harbringer in the unit as well. Unfortunately that makes it more of a death star, but the battle focus improves its grinding ability a lot.

interesting proposition, maybe I can introduce some shooting then as well. I guess the limitation is you can't be as gungho with the unit, charging off 25 inches, which I usually do.

I don't remember exactly, I think it was 19. But I had +1 strength and reroll to wound due to simply dicing him in the magic phase, getting everything off.

I would say my most common mistake was getting too impatient. I always want to set myself in a position where I could charge in the next turn, but sometimes it just doesn't hurt to sit off for a few more turns.

For once the Shabti didn't really do any heavy lifting in any of my games, it was always all about the chariots. I guess I could say that I was probably bad at positioning the Shabti in a good way. If I'm a bit more patient with the chariots it gives the Shabti some time to advance up the table and threaten things.

A common mistake I also did was putting my mage bunker way too defensively (behind the Shabti). In some games it would've been much better to put it a bit more forward so I could threaten with magic in the first turn. For example I faced a double Disc Lord list (played by @WastelandWarrior ) in one of my games. Here the double snipe was really the only way for me to deal with his flying characters. But due to being stuck behind the Shabti I couldn't cast it on some of the turns. Likewise in my game against an ancient dragon I forgot to move into snipe range on the first turn.

I also didn't really make plans for the objective in many games, it felt like I didn't have a unit to spare to not fight but go sit on some objective.

Both the reapers and the Dread sphinx worked pretty well. Mostly due to the fact that they are autonomous. I never felt like my flanks were overwhelmed, which was a real issue with my previous lists. I also need to learn when to push the sphinx in peoples faces and when to zone with it. Versus Jake Corteens Saurian Ancients (3 stegadons and avoidance) I should've been much more aggressive with it, since he doesn't have any way to deal with it (he had no poison shooting). But I ended up killing a unit of saurus warriors and some salamanders with it instead, letting two of his stegadons combo charge my Chariot unit.

Hard counter for your list man, not much you could have done. I was happy to have a game where I wasn't facing a hard counter to my (awful) list (got wrecked in most of my other games)!! fun game anyway and hopefully we will play again one day

With your rolling I just needed one more snipe to swing that game in my favour

. Also I made a big mistake of putting the extra charge range on another unit instead of the chariots on a turn where you maybe couldn't chaff the chariot unit. It would've given me a long charge on your warrior block, maybe giving me the game.
