On my club, we all opine that lust daemon´s lists are a bit broken; anti chaff & anti armour on every unit, it´s very hard to play against them.
If you see the clasification of the tournament that i played, two lust daemons won (i forgot to point it) .We are the Inquisition.
We know where you live.
Our development teams are looking at the deamon lists. Their power level is being scrutinized.

They would be better with skirmish and pistols(stand&shoot) but I use them as throw-away units,
so I try to keep them as cheap as possible.
I´m not decided on the steam tank yet. The opponent is using so many resources to demolish the tank(magic, cannons,cavalry)
thus the rest of my army stays unharmed.
Additionally, the area control is useful. Until the steam tank is dead, most enemies won´t dare to
come within 18 "...
It´s a heartbreaking decision
One of the main difference between Cavalry and Infantry style is the sinergy with heroes and lords: empire needs those, but they works only in infantry based lists, no sinergy with cavalries means no possibility to made those stronger, for example, IG are stronger than cavalries also without orders/bodyguard/detachments/vorticanum/hate etc... so, it's obvious that with various buffs they will perform better than the other units, and you must also take in consideration the heavy spam of lethal strikes/armour penetration/high strong/path of alchemy.."I cannot agree with those who rank modesty among the virtues. @Corvo : Totally agree with you, the aim was to give a chance to cavalry in true condition, I tested, I have data to point my vision.
For the moment, we just have to wait for the next release, give data, give ideas, give vision.
Just a little thought, it's really important to feed the concept teams with our feelings and opponents feelings after games, feed them with your conclusions. It can change if you live in Rome, Seoul or Paris !

The new infantry play style is it, that I like. I hated it in the past, when an empire army was composed of cavallry and war machines and was the only way to go to tournament and have a chance of winning.
On the other hand it should still be viable to use a good portion of cavallry. Eventually the Knight commander or Captains on horse with a Knight commander in charge, should have an additional buff to cavallry.
Cavallry is buffed by the priests, and also the waggons buff them, but not the horses. (that is fine to me)
Orders are an infantry only thing. O.k. eventually there could be a cavallry order too, but I have no clue for a fitting order. So I think it is fine infantry only. I would base buffs for cavallry units on knight commander (and if he is present) on Captains with horse. Eventually make the 3 dice Leadership test for cavallry with captain inside available. (and with Knight commander of course).
I like the infantry playstyle a lot. But it should still be a viable list if one likes cavallry more.
@berti Agree too with, all the playstyle shoulld be viable option in the ninth age, none of the play style should favorised, however it's hard to do it, but we to converge to this point. If you are curious I have post some ideas in another thread to improve this style ( Ideas to make Empire smarter ! ).

I think cavalry only should be a small part of any empire army. If someone wants to play all cav or majority cav, i think they should play KoE.
I used the (probably) cheaty thing of putting the "+1 to hit with ranged"-order on my cannons.
I feel they are good. They are somewhat expensive, but they ramp up the effectivness (and stability) of mainly cannons and volley guns, but I can see them working with rocket mortars as well. I opted to use the orders and reroll from heavens to hit, but I can see myself taking them, especially as a replacement to the Tactician when they fix his wording, if I go gunline-heavy. Mounted engineers are also good diverters in times of need.
I didnt take the banner because of the Points. I was really starved (as you can see on my characters being almost naked) and didnt see the need for +1 to dispell, as dispelling as a lvl 3, having a scroll and almost Always getting an extra channel put me in quite a good place. I also kitted my core just to hold and buy time, so I could almost always let any defensive buff slide, usually giving me the advantage of Dice afterwards.
So I played a few games, one thing I noticed are the knights are really lacklustre. minimum size of 5 and they are ineffective, but with the size limit, they cant do enough damage.
Play 2500 points. HE are my main opponents. I just bring lots of spears now since everything else doesnt work. Swordmaster screened by white lions just destroyed any elite infantry or knights we have. Felt overpowered in magic and warmachines were lacklustre compared to 3 cheap seaugard reapers which just mows down my archers.
Steam tank died way too easily against any large monsters once suffers first 3 wounds.
I feel like the only way to play EoS right now is horde infantry to be competitive. Knights and steam tank are too weak. Sigh, EoS, jack of all trades, master of none.
Also, cannons being a rare choice feels weird, arcane engine should probably be there instead.
I suggest a 50 point reduction for steam tank and remove the one per army slot or bring back 7th ed rules for them that justifies their 300 points and one per army slot.
Also, is there a reason why character horses other than knight commander cannot get barding option?
Plate armor for 10 points on a captain is really high, making different between marshal and captain only 20 points, but marshal get extra ld, wound, and better order. There is no incentive for a captain other than BSB at the moment. Maybe shave 5 points off the captain or plate armor.
Knightly order-really expensive, only incentive is to get 1 big unit at the moment, make them 27 points each instead of different point value for first 5 then 3 points cheaper for remainder. 29 points for first five then 26 for remainder means people are going to max it out. Would be nice if it can increase unit size to 15.
Would really be nice to bring back white wolf hammers (+2 strength on charge, +1 strength normal, require both hands)...
State militia-these should just be streamlined for 6ppm first five then 5ppm not 10ppm for first 5 then 4ppm. Right now, only incentive is to get at least 40 of these.
You can buy barding for 15 pts, it´s under the enrty for the Horse, under Mounts.
