About Me
About Me
Name:
Marco (aka. “Ilderoth”).

How old are you?
I was born in 1980.

Where are you from?
Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht – the Netherlands.

What do you do for living?
I am a Lecturer in the field of Political Philosophy at the Institute of Political Science of Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Since when are you in the Hobby?
I have started with WHFB Ravening Hordes.

How did you get into the Hobby?
I like games, especially strategic/tactical games. When a good friend introduced me to WHFB Ravening Hordes, I was immediately hooked! I invested a serious amount of time in learning the game and began to collect and paint models, which eventually resulted in my first army: Dark Elves. For a long time I have played both in competitive (tournaments) and non-competitive environments (friends and clubs). Although the available amount of time I can devote to the hobby has decreased in the last couple of years (due to other significant and rewarding aspects of my life, such as my family and work), I have never left the hobby... nor do I have any intention of doing so.

Which armies do you play?
Dread Elves & Kingdom of Equitaine

Why do you support the 9th Age project?
With GW’s introduction of AoS, and its subsequent abandonment of WHFB, I felt that virtually all (game play) aspects of the hobby I hold dear were gone. Given that the hobby is too important for me to abandon altogether, I started to look for other table-top game systems. After considering various alternatives, I noticed the 9th Age project and came to the conclusion that it offers, or at least holds the most promise of offering, that which I look for in a table-top game.
