Von Blonde Beer,

Dear T9A Community,

The Ninth Age is a game suited for players who are already familiar with Wargames who also love the detail and granularity of the rules. As the project looks to the future, we also need the ability to cater to new players who might struggle with the detail we offer in our current rule set.

To help with this we created the Quick Starter Edition (QS) of T9A. The goal was to create a faster and easier to learn version that still shares the core concepts of how models and units interact in T9A. We made basic rules to be played with pre-made lists, one for every faction, with no list building required for the first few games. The Quick Starter also had a set of advanced rules, which expanded the options for players and introduced list building - a key part of enjoying the 9th Age hobby.

As T9A progressed from 1.X to the 2.0 structure, there was a need to update the Quick Starter Edition to make the rules conform to the new 2.0 standard. A taskteam was formed to work on that update and after hours, days, weeks, and months of development, the QS taskteam now proudly present the first public version of the updated QS. We focused on the basic rules first and they are meant to be played with the premade armylists we developed. We also included a few pages of the advanced rules, so you can have an idea of what to expect from the expanded QuickStarter. As you will notice, we still have to rewrite the rules in a "a more easy to read" style, but rather than worrying about the form, we thought we'd ask for your help with the content:

We need YOU to test the rules and armies and give us feedback via our questionnaire about your opinions. Help us make the game grow and reach a broader audience. Let's cast the foundations for the future growth of our community!

Please keep in mind that the game plays tactically very different in the Quickstarter meta. As you test and review the mechanics and the core game we've built, think of both the full version of the game, as well as the mindset of a complete newbie to the hobby. The goal is accessible, understandable, tactical, and fun!

See you on the battlefield,
-The Ninth Age team.
