The 9th Age needs YOU!

The 9th Age is made possible by our many dedicated volunteers, who commit their time and energy to the game we all share. Your T9A staff members are from many different countries, bringing a wide range of skills and expertise to the team. You could join us too, we are always on the lookout for new and dedicated volunteers who can help to continue and grow the project. If you have talent and time, you can work in the T9A team and truly be a part of the project.

Below you will find a list of T9A teams, as well the details of what each team does, who would make a good candidate for those teams and how in need of recruits they are. HR Team Support (HR Support)

Needs volunteers.

Our HR Supports provide invaluable help to our HR Team, supporting with recruitment and placement of new staff, and addressing issues staff members have with each other or personal problems.

- Experience of human resources or similar areas
- Commitment to confidentiality

Public Relations (PR)

Needs volunteers.

Our PR Team works to promote the 9th Age to potential players, as well as keeping the community informed about news and developments within the project. They are responsible for maintaining our presence on social media, and making announcements through the website.

Skills required

- An active and able user of social media
- Dedication to sharing news, developments and publicity relating to the game
- Able to attract interest to game related activities and promote them among the community and potential players

Art Team (Art)

Needs volunteers.

The Art Team creates artwork for our books, and is responsible for developing the visual appearance and themes of the 9th Age setting.

Skills required

- A good eye for the artistic styles and principles of the 9th Age
- A strong artistic talent to bring the world of the 9th Age to life in a visual way
- The ability to produce in line with realistic deadlines, for art to be incorporated in our published works

Layout Team (Layout)

Needs volunteers.

Layout creates the appearance of our published works, weaving together background, art and rules to create the high quality items available for download on our website.

Skills required

- A good visual instinct for the structure of 9th Age publications
- Relevant experience and skills with the tools required for structuring and formatting 9th Age creations - including Latex and Scribus
- A willingness to work with Art, Background and Design teams to produce high quality books for the 9th Age

Translation Teams

Needs volunteers.

Our Translation Teams carry out the valuable work of converting our publications into other languages for our global community.

Skills required

- A good understanding of the rules and texts in English
- An excellent ability with the native language of the Translation Team
- A willingness to work with Rules and Background teams to ensure the best translations

Quick Starter Team (QS)

Needs volunteers.

The Quickstarter Team supports the Quickstarter ruleset, aimed at providing an easy entry point for players new to the game or the hobby.

Skills required

- A commitment to attracting new players to the hobby and engaging with them
- An understanding of the Quickstarter game and the ability to explain it to potential new players
- A willingness to commit time to support and maintain the Quickstarter and continue to ensure it is available for new players

Admnistrators (Admin)

Admins are responsible for the technical infrastructure of the 9th Age website. They keep everything running, and ensure that our players are able to access the rules and forums needed to participate in the community.

Mods are responsible for moderating and managing our public forums, they maintain order and ensure our community is able to interact in a respectful and positive way.

- Commitment to ensuring a positive environment for our community

Rules Clarity (RCT)

The RCT takes on the role of clarifying and simplifying our rules, to ensure they are consistent and easy to interpret correctly by our community.

Skills required

- Excellent English writing skills and talent with logical processes
- Attention to detail and commitment to clarity in writing
- Strong familiarity with the game rules and commitment to communicating with the RT to resolve any inconsistencies.

Game Design Team (GDT)

The ADT provides game designers for the development of our books, working to implement the world of the 9th Age in our published works, creating rules and unit designs.

- Understanding of design principles and the qualities desired in the game
- Commitment to being part of the design process and seeing books through from start to finish
- Dedication to realising the 9th Age setting on the table
- Desire to produce quality content for the enjoyment of all players

Background Team (BGT)

The BGT works to create and bring the setting of the 9th Age to life in fiction, supplementing our published books, as well as standalone publications.

- Ability to write quality fiction material to explore the setting and the characters and creatures within

Army Community Support (ACS)

The ACS is our connection to the communities for each of our 16 factions. They gather feedback, answer questions, and serve as a link between our design and background teams and our players. Each faction has dedicated members, working hard to represent their communities.

Legal Team (LT)

The LT is responsible for ensuring the project stays on the right side of the law, and advising us on any legal matters.

- Legal experience or strong understanding of relevant legal principles
- A complete commitment to the confidentiality of discussions relating to legal issues
- A professional and diligent approach to responding to any issues which are raised on behalf of the 9th Age

The Lectors ensure the quality of our published works by proofreading and correcting any grammar and spelling issues.

Playtesting Team (PT)

The PT supports the 9th Age by playtesting new designs and providing valuable feedback to the design teams.

- A strong understanding of the game rules and the workings of different factions
- A willingness to undertake detailed testing of existing and new rules, both in person and online
- The ability to provide detailed and accurate feedback, while keeping the work of the PT confidential

Tournament Analysis (TA)

The TA Team retrieves and analyses data from 9th Age tournaments, providing essential feedback for point changes and design amendments for books in the beta phase of design.

- An understanding of statistics and data, and the methods which can be used to analyse these
- A willingness to gather 9th Age data, compile and analyse it for the benefits of design and rules teams
- A strong commitment to detail and accuracy

Our Product Search Team searches out new miniatures from supporting or third party companies, as well as other commercial products which may be of interest to the community.

Community Engagement (CE)

Community Engagement brings together the content creators within our community, who help us to promote the 9th Age, showcase the wide variety of activities within the game, and build excitement among our players.

The ExB is the body responsible for managing and steering the 9th Age project. It has the final decision on any management decisions and liases with all Team Leads.

The AvB is drawn from senior staff, and consults for the ExB on project decisions, as well as performing important support duties.

Rules Team (RT)

By invitation only.

The RT is the central point for 9th Age game design, guiding the evolution of the game and creation of its rules. They oversee the work of other teams involved with design work, and set out the guidelines for other teams to follow when designing.
