The latest issue of the 9th Scroll is here! You can read all about it in the news.
Episode 11! Thats a year of hobby (I missed a month)! It would be great to get some feedback on this "series" if anyone actually enjoys seeing what we have done each month. Is there something you would like to see more of?
"Mercenary" WIP. I've always wanted to do a unit of Mercenaries, but since I'm a practical being, the prospect of modelling 7-8 unique models that all have to be magnetized was a bit daunting. I do love converting, but this specific project was just something that I had to push myself into. I decided to help myself with some easy bits, that had been used by many other ogre players, and if it turns out too "ordinary", I will have a new hunter model at least!
I have continued to work on my WotDG Pestilence project! To paint my once Chosen, I have used full Duncan's Painting Guides on Youtube, and the entire army is built around the colors he uses in those videos. My first thought was to make it a swamp theme with cliffs. However as I just bought a winter table (as you can see in the latest 9th Scroll), I decided to change the swamp to an icy lake. The Pox walkers behind the bases will be my barbarian regiment, along with some Games Workshop Nurglings. I used the same techniques for the walkers as I used for the Once Chosen. The Snails will be used as warhounds and were made from actual snail shells and goblin spider legs. I am hoping to have a game ready army for the Danish tournament Battle of Copenhagen in February.
This month I have been really trying to clear my painting table for space. I have so many models and not so much space. I had half painted my Vampire Spawn so finished those off. They were a bit of a modelling project as I had lost 2 legs somewhere and re-positioning the models to fit the ruined building was a bit of a task! I like to add some humans that are getting eaten/killed etc to give the army a bit of character, and this was no different.
The Bats were taking up a lot of space and only took a little time to paint. They were done using exactly the same scheme as the Vampire spawn, down to the eyes, to give coherence to the bats of the army. I also added some unfortunate humans being chased and carried off by the "Happy Bats"!
This months hobby progress from the Ammertime Team:
Henry - Not much to show for this month. I have been in Mongolia for 3 weeks and organising a 100 person event. I found time to make a good start on my forest ranger conversions though They are built from a number of different GW kits but mostly a combination of the Shadow warrirors and leftover Wildwood ranger kits from my forest guards.
Casimir - This month was the lead up to Giant Fanatic and as such I've been rushing to complete everything for my list. The list I started out with was quite ambitious, with a lot to be painted. In the end I didn't manage to finish a second sphinx but basically everything else was completed. I finally finished my Shabti unit which has been years in the making. Painted my second colossus, also made from a Kratos action figure, you might have seen the first one in the 3rd edition of the scroll. I added one more winged reaper to my unit and polished off my architect conversion. All in all its been a pretty hectic month.
Lasse Giant Fanatic 2017! I planned to make an narrative army, where I only used my hero - and special points on minotaurs. The pictures show my 4 heroes! This was the list:
Minotaur Chieftain [495pts] Battle Standard Bearer, Flail, Upgrade to Totem Bearer, Bronze Breastplate, Potion of Swiftness, Talisman of Greater Shielding
Minotaur Chieftain [450pts] Flail, Upgrade to Totem Bearer, Aaghor's Flayed Hide
Minotaur Chieftain [370pts] Flail, Eye of Dominance, Mithril Mail
Minotaur Warlord [684pts] Army General, Beast Axe, Heavy Armour Crown of Autocracy, Hardened Shield, Talisman of Supreme Shielding
1x21 Mongrel Herd, shield, Standard
3x10 Mongrel Raiders - Ambush & Scout [120pts]
1x35 Wildhorn Herd, PW, FCG, Banner of the Wild Herd
1x7 Minotaur, PW, FCG, Stalker’s Standard
1x7 Minotaur, PW, FCG, Aether Icon
1x3 Minotaurs [261pts] GW
1x3 Minotaurs [255pts] PW
Rasmus - I have been experimenting with ice effects on my bases and completed some Once Chosen for my Warriors of the Dark Gods army!
Another installment (a little late as usual) of last months hobby stuff. And it has been a big month for the Ammertime guys! Man we have done a lot of hobby!
Firstly an apology from me for the long hiatus. I actually forgot to make a blog post for last month. The last few months have been a bit crazy for me and this is also why we havent made a podcast in a while. Its coming. Soon.
For now you FFB's will have to make do with a small hobby update.
Hello and welcome back to another episode of A Tale of Many Gamers.
Unfortunately the podcast has not happened the last few months. I have just moved apartments and my energy has been put towards that end. However, we will be back very soon with some more content. In the meantime, strap in for some updates in the hobby (also a little thin on the ground this month).
This month I painted army which was finished before Battle of Copenhagen. At the time, everything was painted quite quickly, but made so that I could return and do the finishing layers and touches at a later time. Here are the results:
This month Ulrik has made what can only be described as a "Combat Gauge!" Simply for want of a better word. This mad-genius-esq contraption can measure arcs of sight as well as the spacing between units and, I think the 6" panic bubbles. Made by hand from cutting and filing a metal sheet, Ulrik has engineered this to an almost Dwarven precision.
His newly painted master engineer would be proud:
This month I planned on doing a ton of painting, being really enthused after Battle of Copenhagen. But work, life and other stuff got in the way as it always does. I did however manage to get some work on my Pharaoh in chariot model. Even tough I'm not sure it will see any play for some time I really want to finish this awesome model before I move on to something else, lest it ends up forgotten in some box. At this point only the chariot is completely done but its coming along at least.
A Tale of Many Gamers Part 5!
We have been very busy this month. Many of us getting ready for the Battle of Copenhagen. Here's what some of the guy's have been doing this month:
Battle of Copenhagne came and went, I think in the end I switched lists around at least 20 times. Adverse effects of this was that I didn't focus my painting at all and ended up with 5ish unfinished projects. In the end I decided to make it easy for myself and take a necroguard star list. The only thing I needed to finish up was basically some characters. So this month i finished a Harbringer and a Pharaoh.
At Battle of Copenhagen I got a lot of helpful comments about my army, mostly my bases so I decided to jazz them up a bit. I've changed the edges to black, which quite frankly I don't know why I didnt do earlier and I added some tufts. In the future I will probably add some variation in the vegetation as well but for now I only had one color.
My army the night before Battle of Copenhagen... and the discussion we had about count as models.. and the the army at the tournament
I went to Battle of Copenhagen with a WDG Chosen army that I started working in mid January.
Wrath Lord on Chariot
Lust Lord on Steed of lust
8 Barbarian horsemen of Lust
14 Warriors of True Chaos
5 x 10 lust chosen
When I started in January I had the 14 warriors and the 8 horsemen done and nothing else. Everything else I have to be assembled and paint in 1 month and here is the result.
This was the first time I tried my new airbrush for something other than a base coat and I think the result I okay. The base coat of on the cape on the lust lord is black, then at purple with airbrush, purple wash, a little lighter purple with the airbrush in an angle and in the end a new layer of white.
The Chosen of lust
I got the last 40 chosen for my Army just 3 weeks before Battle of Copehagen so those 3 weeks was very busy for me. All my spare time was spent painting but who needs a social life
Basecoat is black, lots of gold, flesh and purple, Washed with nuln oil, highlight, purple wash and more highlights. All swords and axe have blood (blood for the blood god) on them. I still think that all the models need more highlights and all the bases need more work.
I have been super hobby-motivated this month. I have been very productive. As well as a casual third place in a pretty big tournament I have been working on about 3 armies.
I repaired Daisy the Dragon from the damage she sustained on the flight home from the UK.
I also had some Varkolak Inspiration and gave Polly a facelift and a makeover. For those not following my Vampire blog the-ninth-age.com/index.php?th…&postID=208236#post208236 Polly has a pretty in depth back story and is 90% scratch built.
I have also finished a couple of witch hunter wraiths. These have an ACTUAL story!
I also finished a chaos Chariot/hero/mauler for my Wrath army. These pictures aren't great but you get the idea
That's it for last months painting.
If you have any questions about any of the models/techniques/inspiration in this months blog, please get in touch either in the comments field below or send us some mail to firstname.lastname@example.org!

Tale of many Gamers Part 4!!!!
This month on the Tale of Many Gamers, the Ammertime team prep for the Battle of Copenhagen Tournament coming up at the end of the month:
This month I have been very busy with the VC. I have finished my unit of skeleton halberdiers (the Templehof Mauverines) and a unit of bat swarms.
Wip shots of my tuskers, I opted for more red than the rest of my ogres so far, mostly to break monotomy. Everything is magnetized, and if I could say so myself, my magnetizing skills make up for the painting!
Just preparing for the tournament.. painting details and putting on magnets!
"He rips your head of and eats you heart as a snack" . "Bathing in the blod of his enemies, leaving his armour with a filthy smell and a horrendous rotten look" .
This month Ive started work on my Tomb cataphracts again. I made this unit probably in the middle of 8th edition but never finished them. But now Im trying to go back in time for Battle of Copenhagen. The snakes are circled arpund wedding cake pillars, making them a bit tricky to build but quite nice in the end. Theres some details added like a greenstuff banner.
That's it for the hobby from last month. You can expect a pre tournament and post tournament podcast coming up in the next few weeks so stay tuned.

Welcome back to part 2!
In this episode, fanboys are treated to listening to Kristoffer and Henry discussing Narrative games and scenarios as a method of deciding the winner. You can see below some of the scenarios we have come up with.
The second part is a bit more interesting. Kristoffer discussed his Kingdom of Equitaine list and gives some tips with regards to army selection.
Henry talks about his Vampire list and some of the elements of Vampire Covenant army selection (by no means an expert opinion).
The 6 primary scenarios you can find here:

Hello once again.
Part two is bringing you a little side project I have been helping with.
Sons of the Bear God is a fan-made, homebrew Army Book. It is an attempt to encapsulate the old Kislev army.
This book is in no way an official 9th Age Publication and has been put together by:
