Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age

This site uses cookies. By continuing to browse this site, you are agreeing to our Cookie Policy.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age is an independent table top miniature wargame set in a fantasy world, in which players take control of armies and set them upon one another in conflicts ranging from minor skirmishes to mighty battles with hundreds of models.

The game and all of its rules are completely free to download and use, and consist of a main rulebook and over fifteen army documents, ranging from stoic men and noble elves to the feral orcs and dread worshipers of the dark gods. You can easily assemble your own army using appropriate 28mm miniatures from any manufacturer.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age has been created by a group of experienced wargamers, a large supportive staff and continuous input from the wargaming community. We aim to provide a competitive, balanced and fun game, with updates and new rules to be released regularly.

We’ve created 16 unique armies from the Dread Elves in the west to the Ogre Khans in the east. Each army has different units and playstyles and can be represented by models from any 28mm model company. People said it was impossible, but we have created a game that is both balanced and fun. Don’t believe us? Try it for yourselves.

Happy wargaming.

Plus 1 to hit is a rather good ability. More so on units that have rather high quality attacks. Better aegis is also very strong. So I doubt orders are anywhere near the same level. And orders mostly work for infantry units with rather bad basic stats…

I'm going to try explain very clearly what I mean here so as it's understood: I dont actually like this for the following reasons: - This feels like a magic phase, that isn't a magic phase. One that I am going to be completely inactive in, especially if…

@Minidudul I suspect the Ring only affects the Ankh, where all R&F figures in the bearers unit gain a (6+) Fortitude save. They lose this for as long as the two Characters are in close combat. Once the Hierophant is removed the Ring has no further…

As I see it the current book has a lot of unused assets, mostly gimped by cost limitations. the yearly price rise of the steam copter, the hard price limit for organ guns that prohibits 2 engineers + 2 OG's, the single use items that are initially…

Problems I see to solve: 1. Unwieldy shooting. -2 to-hit for moving up 3" or reform. This directly promotes castling by DH. The only reasonable thing our main shooters can do is stand still. 2. TWs + Sturdy. If opponent is in range of TWs it is better to…
