This site uses cookies. By continuing to browse this site, you are agreeing to our Cookie Policy.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age is an independent table top miniature wargame set in a fantasy world, in which players take control of armies and set them upon one another in conflicts ranging from minor skirmishes to mighty battles with hundreds of models.

The game and all of its rules are completely free to download and use, and consist of a main rulebook and over fifteen army documents, ranging from stoic men and noble elves to the feral orcs and dread worshipers of the dark gods. You can easily assemble your own army using appropriate 28mm miniatures from any manufacturer.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age has been created by a group of experienced wargamers, a large supportive staff and continuous input from the wargaming community. We aim to provide a competitive, balanced and fun game, with updates and new rules to be released regularly.

We’ve created 16 unique armies from the Dread Elves in the west to the Ogre Khans in the east. Each army has different units and playstyles and can be represented by models from any 28mm model company. People said it was impossible, but we have created a game that is both balanced and fun. Don’t believe us? Try it for yourselves.

Happy wargaming.

Omen on Throne finally done. First try on NMM gold and while im not sure how much it looks like gold im really satisfied with how much it does to the model, as opposed to just painting the armour an ordinary citadel gold. Much more…

Why "Gorgons" and no Medusas... Because Medusa was one of the gorgons, the mortal one. But gorgons are 3 in the greek mythology Stheno Euryale Medusa

why not just let it have light troops, maybe get rid of qtf and set their march to advance? So they have all the free reforms but arent so fast.

What is your reasoning for the negative modifier to the damage roll? Negating 1/3 or 1/2 the rolls just seems like another factor to promote always using TnT. Wouldn't using D3+1 / D3 be better? It achieves the same minimising of damage spikes but means…

Or just keep mishap as it is and remove TnT +1 to wound for something that doesn't increase damage, like a bonus range or whatever (so you DONT have to use every time) - and thus removing orb of atheus. The biggest offender here is clearly the damage

The example you showed would have the unit still shooting at half strength. It is far more common to have an artillery piece from another army not shoot at all. I just had a game where I didn't factor in Flamethrowers that were nearly 30" away from my…

That's not the usual case. Yesterday I lost 16 WDG warriors to just two rounds of cannister shooting. That's closer to average and is absolutely devastating.
