Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age

This site uses cookies. By continuing to browse this site, you are agreeing to our Cookie Policy.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age is an independent table top miniature wargame set in a fantasy world, in which players take control of armies and set them upon one another in conflicts ranging from minor skirmishes to mighty battles with hundreds of models.

The game and all of its rules are completely free to download and use, and consist of a main rulebook and over fifteen army documents, ranging from stoic men and noble elves to the feral orcs and dread worshipers of the dark gods. You can easily assemble your own army using appropriate 28mm miniatures from any manufacturer.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age has been created by a group of experienced wargamers, a large supportive staff and continuous input from the wargaming community. We aim to provide a competitive, balanced and fun game, with updates and new rules to be released regularly.

We’ve created 16 unique armies from the Dread Elves in the west to the Ogre Khans in the east. Each army has different units and playstyles and can be represented by models from any 28mm model company. People said it was impossible, but we have created a game that is both balanced and fun. Don’t believe us? Try it for yourselves.

Happy wargaming.

    @LK. It was great!

Just have a look at page 42 11.E.d. You want to get both chargers in contact (2nd priority) and don't have to rotate the charged unit (3rd priority) before maximising models (4th priority)

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt
    piteglio

yes, i agree with that, but only if you end up charging the facing you declared you wanted to charge.

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt
    piteglio

declaring a charge to the front and then executing it to the flank seems... meh.

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt
    Lich King

So the warriors end up as they were standing before the charges, not rotating at all. Carno and Tauro go into the front, but can't maximize model contact due to the swarm preventing them from it

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt
    piteglio

ok. but then dude to the south (carno) can't fit in, not even at corner clipping, because of flyers behind.

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt
    Lich King

It doesn't look like the carno can't charge the warriors into their front without rotating them from the shown perspective

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt
    Lich King

If the warriors have to be rotated so that the tauro can't charge into their front, the tauro has to perform a failed charge move because of 11.C. He has to charge the unit in the facing that was determined when declaring the charge

Regarding the current tournament meta: Are things still revolving around big blocks and bunkers or are there working MSU lists?

I'd even say there are more MSU concepts than deathstar/big blocks and so on

Suddenly realised that Thomas the Bard's “Fairy Tales”, Tome 2 is about the Highborn Elves, guessing Tome 3 is on Dread Elves. Does that mean we'll get Tome 3 published before Tome 2 ? :D
