Also, two units of 20 models will look better on the table than one unit of 50. In addition to that it will also make the table less cramped and more manouvers can be executed. because of more space on the table other smaller units will find it easier…

I feel like the newer rules are trying to model what 10 Dwarfs against 20 Goblins would be like instead of say 200 Dwarfs against 400 Goblins. Step Up would be intuitive in a skirmish game like Age of Sigmar. That's why Age of Sigmar has Pile In. However…

First thing that came to mind while keeping the spirit of the design alive is something like Strength 6, AP1. This way they get some more specific targets that doesn't compete with a alot of other internal entries.

My .02 cents: Make them hard hitters in CC. The army lacks something that can really fight. Maybe this is the best space to put in a fighting unit.

If we gave them swift reform and their third attack back (points would balance out in time) then they would be an interesting choice. I don’t think they could become less elite? :P

I agree with Davian. I mean its not that 6th edition was perfect, I don't think we should go back to playing that ruleset either, but I think that 9th Age suffers from being spiritual successor of 8th edition rather than 6th edition, as in my opinion…
