The bright side of the situation is that Chariots blocks are in their right place, at the forefront of the army. But as a whole the situation sure does show the mistakes made during the last big design process in a very clear light. At least it's obvious what must be worked on next time around.

  • Aye, like said - They're a decent unit, it's hard to go WRONG with them. They're just not the do-all end-all anymore, people are now enjoying other things like the Doombust or Hellmaw. Oh, and the CK were also combined with the more powerful EH last year. I'm admittedly surprised that there's so FEW CK this time around, but I guess their price is a sticking point now that there's other options as well.

  • The CK were used because at that time they were the ONLY reasonable choice, not because they're particularly good. They were just the least overpriced. But while other entries improved or went down in points, they stayed nearly the same. Thus now THEY'RE the overpriced unit by default.

Never seen it over here, haven't paid attention to global metas in a while. Seeing them being the dominant GD by a clear margin after expecting none, is a surprise.

12 Kuulima's Deceivers, huh? That's surprising. But also funny that Envy is so popular on both sides of the Dark Gods. Guess they fulfill functions that both armies really need.

  • My scores during test games were in the range of 20-0 or 0-20 and we don't trust our skill in pairings to ensure that I would get the match-ups where I would rock, the team needed something a bit more stable. And it's Alchemy, I keep referring to the Sorcerer as 'Alchemist' in my head and forget to write the path down waaayy too often. That's probly -3 points for the team right off.

  • Because it's 20 points that I've almost never needed on them, and never needed it critically.

  • Oh, also, this is my list: 640- Chosen Lord: General, Favour of Envy, Dark Prelate, War Dais, Burning Portent, Talisman of Shielding, Dragonfire Gem 580 - Doomlord: Trophy Rack, Spiked Shield, Great Weapon, Gladiators Spirit, Dusk Forged, Immortal Gauntlets 560 - Sorcerer on Dark Chariot: Wizard Master, Plate Armor, Paired Weapons, Hero's Heart, Basalt Infusion, Lucky Charm 310 - 2 x 10x Warriors: Champion, Favour of Greed 150 - 2 x 5x Fallen 488 - 6x Forsworn: Champion, Musician, Spiked Shields…

Pairings are fun, they're a game within a game more or less. I personally enjoy this aspect of team tournaments quite a lot. Makes the game feel entirely different to me.

  • Versatility is highly valuable, Greed Knights are indeed jacks of all trades and masters of none, but this also means they have little weakness in their role - They can grind Parry tarpits or tarpits in general, challenge other knight units without a need to charge, hold down monsters etc...It's best to think of them as HW+Shield Knights that CAN take on roles the HW knights can't, but don't necessarily need to. They're a support unit that can make surprising plays - They don't project an obviou…

Fek, I forgot the Path of Magic from my Wizard for the third time this month. I keep calling the guy "Alchemist" in my head and forget that people cannot read my thoughts, neither in person or over the internet.

  • Barbarians are cheap scoring units that can beat other cheap scoring units in combat and that in itself has value. 15 guys sitting on an objective is only 135 points that don't necessarily take part in the game, basically chaff. A box housing a Lord can also cost a damn nickle and its main value is carrying the Lord where it wants to go unmolested.

  • Thanks for making me notice my Sorcerer is missing a path of magic @umbranar. It's supposed to be Alchemy, I wonder how this slipped through our list-check... Also, all 4 Occultist Masters have Veil Walker, which is essentially how Veil Walker was made to be used. Rather, I think there's not enough Occultists.

  • Lack of Characters

Not in the near future at the very least.

  • I often use an unit of 5. 3-4 is too little I feel, as the enemy can target the DL with artillery or the like. The chances aren't high, but the opponent only needs one success. An unit of 5 at least forces the enemy to kill one of the meatshields before they can reach the bossman. Though, I'm taking an unit of 6 to ETC, purely because I had one game where he got sniped on turn one anyway.

  • I know that feel. I just want to paint skeletons, but ETC demands I get more Warriors done, especially after my team denied my previous list. At least I can paint my new Khemri Blood Bowl team.

  • Trophy rack?

Would suggest Banner of Discipline on the Feldrak unit instead of shoving a character there, failing a Terror-test caused Panic or one caused by taking too many wounds tends to be their only sources of Panic, barring a freak situation where they actually manage to lose a combat, though if they're losing a combat they're probably already toast as is.

  • That was a really nice read, Nic. Shame you didn't straight-up win, but the Best General award is almost better!

  • In the design process, we viewed it thus: Being a Chosen means that the god you have sworn allegiance to, provides you with power in a controlled fashion - You gain resilience, skill, capability. A Forsworn still gains this power, but the flow is no longer as controlled, and only results in physical growth that will in time go so badly out of control that the free-flowing power turns you into a Wretch or Forsaken One. While this growth has its benefits, it's not natural, nor does the Forsworn be…

  • Yes, that's a good combo.
