  • Updated the book with a couple of minor grammatical and layout fixes. Otherwise its still in a stable period of playtesting. Not enough data to act on anything as of yet. If anyone would proxy this army, i encourage the use/attempt to abuse angler wyrms and provide me with detailed information for those games. EDIT: Forgot to mention that im working on more lore and the hobby section as well behind the scenes. Not sure if I want to change the book's layput to incorporate the background and lore …

  • Quote from Irondaemon: “Check out Wyrd Games - the Other Side. Especially their Gibbering Horde faction. Their Armoured Whelks are perfect for Shellcrackers, and there are some other nice Aquatic stuff their as well, like for the avatar, the Angler wyrm, a mermaid, and maybe some basic troops. giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-…ons/the-other-side/ghorde ” Good stuff! The Stormsiren and Armoured Whelks are 10/10. Might want that stormsiren for my own army tbh.

  • Help Wanted! As I'm in a "slowly collecting gameplay feedback mode" for the book's first real update, Im Gonna start looking around for additional miniature options for all the different unit entries in the meantime. In fact, the hobby section in general will start seeing more development over the next couple of weeks. Please let me know if you know or find anything that would fit any of this army's entries really well.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you going through most of the army. Although many of your comments stand in quite stark contrast to pretty much most of what I've heard over the last 14 months of playtesting. I will take note of your points but I'm rather confident when reading your analysis that you would form radically different ideas when facing other lists from this army. And other (very competent players) have shown me lists that would fly in the face of your ideas of what is OP and no…

  • Updated the PDF up on the dropbox with the hotfixes mentioned 3 posts up. Also made some layoutchanges. Playing around with how I want the mount section to be presented.

  • Quote from BrykJagz: “Easier way to make the banner BSB exclusive without having to work around with points is the put: Tapestry of Ymiron (100pts) Cannot be taken by R&F models. Also I agree with it being a little OP by giving dice. Maybe make it apply Channel (D3). That way people wont be bothered by the fact that it "Auto" supplies you with a dice. ” Well, 120 pts seems fair anyways so Its an elegant solution instead of slapping on a restriction in text. The problem with changing it to ch…

  • Made some hotfixes to the master document. These wont be added right away to the versions available here and on youtube. Will be added anywhere between tomorrow and monday depending on when I find time to redo parts of the youtube video. The fixes include: * Compiled and added all featured artists and/or owners of artwork by name in the credits section. * Minor layoutfixes in the special equipment section. * Replaced the artwork on the naga unit entry to better fit their aquatic and dark nature …

  • Quote from BrykJagz: “My only question would be about losing combat with enough combat Resolution to "Autobreak" the unit. I'm not 100% sure about the written rules for auto breaking from combat. So would a unit be allowed to roll on a 6+ for Tidal even if it lost the combat by enough resolution to auto break? Or does autobreaking remove the possibility of making that roll since it tied to a Discipline test. ” as long as the rules actually prompt a discipline test to be made, tidal vagary trigge…

  • mathematically im fine with it. But might feel a little clumsy. But so is adding exceptions to the rule so you might be right.

  • @BrykJagz Awesome seeing you share your list in the thread so people can see different perspectives and choices. I might paste a couple of armies ive used and break fown how they felt to play. Lots of pts in characters in there reducing ypur potential damage output but if you can get your opponent to overextend into those shellcrackers that should give you tons of space. That kinda reminds me...you have a BSB. I might have to clarify tidal vagary for rerolls on the same discipline test. Dont wan…

  • Alternative designs for the hereditary spell have been made should I need a replacement. But no changes will be made until I have done some further testing on it. Im basically gonna play games where I or my opponent are purposefully attempting to abuse it. Please let me know any filthy combinations where the hereditary is included you want me to test in particular. EDIT: I obviously encourage you all to proxy the models and test the army for yourselves. Even better if you can provide me with bre…

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “Quote from Goatrek: “Quote from Mercenary Armies: “I like the ambassador cause is unique. Don't know if is good on the battlefield. I don't like the Naga, too different style from the other troops. Good Job ” Regarding the Naga, Is the artwork pulling too much away from the aquatic theme or is it something in the rules you react to?My inspiration for the Naga comes from the Warcraft universe who are very much aquatic creatures but didn't find any suitable artwork. ”…

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “The intro says all art is credited to the originating artist, but I can't find any artist credits anywhere. Is this going to be added somewhere? ” I am looking to make a more extensive credits section, including playtesters, artists, aome people on this forum, local organizers etc. So those things will appear in the beginning of the book when I have decided how it will look.

  • Thanks for the input! Will check on some special items you mentioned. Increasing cost of the Tapestry of Ymiron is something I've been thinking about to incentivise bringing a BSB. Look forward to play against you. I think that would greatly influence your view of the army.

  • @JimMorr Thanks for a thoughtful analysis. All internal game testing has had to grapple with these issues which is why the current iteration only has an unreliable D8" range combined with the cast range of only 18". That combined with slow base movement has negated these concerns BUT as you say, skilled players and movement-increasing items change the dynamics quite a bit. It is on the "watch list" for sure but the thematic of it and natural answer to an innate army-wide weakness (if one is will…

  • Quote from shadoweyed: “I like it @Goatrek I'm working on a test list and what models I see for each unit entry. Minor tweaks to bring wording in line, and you have a T9A army book. ” Nice. Its always fun to look at what type of lists other people come up with using the CoY. One friend is looking to start hos own CoY collection and had radically different ideas for this army than how I play them, which is exactly how i want the army to be like. Lots of customization and different builds.

  • Quote from BrykJagz: “@Goatrek I suggest #1 with the straight forward limitation if you lean towards no charging with no shaken limitation. #4 if you want charging potential with no shaken limitation. Although for #4 you'd have to add the straight forward limitation if you want it to be made only straight. Since random movement can make the unit go in any direction it chooses lol. ” #4 is probably what Im going for. it should be straight forward for sure.

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “If only all 9th Age fluff had this style .... awesome work GT ” Thank you so much. I'm looking to expand both the lore and hobby section of the book as soon as all the inevitable hotfixes from the feedback gathered here have landed and I can refocus.

  • Quote from BrykJagz: “I think the main questions were about the Shaken rule, maybe clarity on that being; If the affected unit/model was Shaken, it no longer counts as Shaken. And the question about Dangerous Terrain. If you want them to be taken, specify this. Otherwise don't change anything because moves made through terrain that would give DT while marching through it have no effect on Random Movement because Random Movement counts as an Advance Move for all intents and purposes. ” Mhm, Im le…
