  • ... Or you use the old Heroquest Necromancer (with a screaming face headswap) so it looks like he's riding a roller coaster! coolminiornot.com/268046

  • @Duke Niemar Remember the community's opinion does hold weight in T9A. It's why I started the "What's most important to you" thread. I want to have as much record as we can get exactly what the community wants when it comes time for the FAB. If the vast majority of the community wants powerful characters able to duel with a Vamp or a Chosen Lord that'll hold some weight. If the community is split between powerful characters and other things, well we might see something like what @DanT is suggest…

  • So at very least it seems that all of ya have come round to the same thought: If only points will change as part of the balance update, then so be it, maybe might goes up to 200pts, the list won’t change much and the Might Duke will still be taken. If rules can be tweaked everyone agrees the best thing would be to stop Virtue of Might from being taken with a unit of Pegasus. Seems easy enough and it’s in the hands of the RT. How about point reductions though? Are there units that need it? Items?…

  • At the end of the day guys: Math doesn’t lie. It just hurts your feelings sometimes. Fun anecdotes about how you managed to roll five 2’s to hit, whiffed with your might duke and lost the game are still just fun anecdotes. If you manage to pull that off in even two games back-to-back I’d buy some lottery tickets, or bet on some horses, cause you’re crushing the odds. The way this game is balanced shouldn’t be about feelings. If you want to argue that “The might Duke can still miss”. You’re right…

  • Wow that’s a nice mini

  • Tristan just needs +2 AP baked in and a point increase (70/75?) and it would be great. It’s still good now but armor is tough. We won’t see changes like this until the FAB

  • They’re really nice models too, very easy to assemble and just very high quality. I plan on getting a couple more boxes once they’re available

  • We could make virtue of might “Duke or Paladin on Barded Warhorse only”

  • “A paladin may not be chosen as the army general”

  • I think both Divine Judgement and Might could go up by 20 points each and all we’d see is 40 points disappear from somewhere else in the list. However it would make people choose between the potion of swiftness and basalt infusion, which could leave the character a bit weaker on defense which might cause some players to look elsewhere... ... which when combined with point drops on a couple other items might allow for some new combos to see play. How much cheaper do you think the Faith of Perceva…

  • So now that ETC is over balance adjustments are probably on their way for us and others. This does not mean big rules changes or opportunities to rewrite the rules for things like peasant crusaders, but instead probably means point adjustments for over/underperforming units. It does however give us the chance to look at what we have now, and what could become viable with just little tweaks to points. There is of course the other side of things, the might Duke is chosen more often than any other …

  • Then you fix questing knights, lol! Here are the options: 1. Heavy armor and great swords: (big steamy pile of bad, this was the first iteration, almost no one played them) 2. Great swords that let you use shields for some reason and also sometimes let u use them as a spear. What we have now, people like them a lot, but they ruin internal balance for characters 3. +1 str and +1 ap, may be used with a shield, strike in agility order. Grindy! Maybe better then it is now, it’s my favorite solution …

  • Make plate armor an option. Make the blessing a flat 6+ except for grail knights who receive the same version of the blessing as other knights do now. Remove bastard sword

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “Quote from Klexe: “You see what I mean? We could even get stronger virtues then because we can make sure that his trade off is there ” Essentially meaning we end up with a weaker character overall because of that tradeoff. Your examples really worry me. A Res 3 character or light armour or DW4? any one of these would make me call for the next candidate. Even if he is capable of putting out a lot of death that's little use to me if he's dead when the enemy sneeze at him.Quo…

  • Yes my suggestion was to look at how Gifts of the Dark Gods are set up for Chosen Lords. Grail Paragon might have a small selection of “Grail Specific” virtues listed beneath his profile as upgrades. Duke would offer the option of either Fealty or Questing oaths and have it’s own selection of Virtues with perhaps a couple being offered for Questing or Fealty respectively. Paladins would have their own virtue set and could be built to align with the fluff about them being de-facto witch/demon hun…

  • It might however, make sense to have 3 distinct combat characters each with their own version of the 7 virtues: Paladin Duke Grail Paragon Each with it’s own stats and options like a chosen lord. Klexe is correct though, by allowing only specific options you don’t have to price based only on the most powerful combos: *cough might Duke*

  • No fair having a saint perched on your booth

  • Okay found the relevant passage, it took a little bit of time to figure it out, I think this rule should probably be referenced in the magic resistance section. Dispelling a Bound Spell works exactly like dispelling a Learned Spell. If 2 Magic Dice were removed the casting roll is equal to the Bound Spell’s primary Power Level. If 3 Magic Dice were removed the casting roll is equal to the Bound Spell’s secondary Power Level. This is the only place where it explains that the “Casting Roll” is equ…

  • Quote from trulyelse: “It becomes easier to dispell, I'd imagine. ” But it specifically says they suffer -x to their casting roll, but there is no casting roll... 13.J.b.1 1 2 3 Bound Spell Casting Attempt The Active Player declares which model will cast which Bound Spell, and whether they will use 2 or 3 Magic Dice. If applicable, the Active Player also declares the targets of the spell. The spell is always cast with the basic version as Bound Spells cannot be Boosted. The Active Player removes…

  • Magic Resistance: Learned Spells and Bound Spells targeting at least one enemy unit with one or more models with Magic Resistance suffer a −X modifier to their casting roll (where X is given in brackets). This is an exception to the Casting and Dispelling Modifier rule. If there are different X values that could be used, use the highest value. Okay but casting a bound spell just means I remove two or three dice and the spell is cast automatically. Then my opponent needs to dispel on 4 or 8. I do…
