  • I think I follow and it seems relatively straightforward: 1. Roll to hit (and wound) as normal. 2. AP Roll to try to negate the enemy armour - if passed, the enemy armour is negated and they don't get an Armour save roll (step 4) - if failed, the enemy gets to take their Armour save roll (step 3) 3. The Enemy takes Armour Save rolls on their Armour Value 4. The Enemy takes Special Save rolls (if they haven't already taken an Armour Save roll for that hit) So, there's no more comparing AP values …

  • They cannot. Quote from Slim rulebook page 103: “21.B.d.1 Charging out of a Unit Declare a Charge with a Character in a Combined Unit (during the Charge Phase as normal) and apply the following rules: • Use the Character’s model for determining Line of Sight and distance to the enemy unit. • As soon as the Character declares a Charge, it is considered a separate unit (i.e. it uses its own Advance Rate, all hits from Stand and Shoot Charge Reactions will hit the Character, in case of a Flee Charg…

The markers don't have to be placed directly in contact with the unit under where the template/forest is going to go, they're just acting as a reference point for where the unit goes after the template/forest is placed. You could use a tape measure extended and use the inch markers as a reference for where the unit has to go. When sight lines are tight, check those and agree with your opponent where they are. That way if they're not the same after the template placement, you know they need to be…

Quote from funkyfellow: “Any tips on avoiding this situation? (beyond not taking the item to begin with ) ” Whatever you did during that tournament, don't do that, not even a little bit. ...seriously though: - check whether the template/forest will fit where you want it to go - before moving any unit, note exactly where it is using multiple markers, dice work - the markers don't have to be where the unit is/was they simply have to act as a reference for where the unit was - move the unit very ca…

The player may activate this Artefactat the end of any friendly Movement Phase and placea Forest Terrain Feature in contact with the bearerand at least 1″ away from any enemy units and otherTerrain Features. The Forest may not be larger than6″ in diameter. Quote from Wesser: “Must it be no more than 6 wide or Can you make a thinner/longer aka changing its form but not its s…

Quote from Tyranno: “Quote from Eldan: “Because only giants walk on two legs, ” Off the top of my head; Ghortachs, Cyclopi, Colossi, Kadim Titans, Greater Daemons and Great Green Idols are all bipedal as well. ” No reason why they can't all be able to fall over. Quote from Eldan: “If people don't want random directions, make a rule based on momentum. The giant falls in the last direction it was moving. ” So...forwards? That's a very easy rule to implement if we have it look like that.

So this rules is a bit of a convoluted legacy rule, so why not make it simpler? eg. Fly (so the model with it can move over stuff) Sweeping Attacks (since it does damage to what it moves over) Thoughts?

  • Quote from da_griech: “When I think about it, I believe we have some bias here: People who are somewhat ok with the current assassin won't usually write here as much as people who don't know at all how to utilize the current assassin. ” Please change this.

Quote from Grouchy Badger: “Why dont we have the rule that giants fall over and smash stuff? ” Lots of reasons: - too random - too silly - it used a template and we got rid of those - it's a GW thing, so we don't necessarily want to be seen to be copying them or doing anything too similar to them lest we get sued or shut down or something - giving all the big stuff a fall over would be too time consuming and/or complicated to balance Treemen used to fall over in the GW rules as well. • Quote from VampsinMD: “an infantry unit upgrade that comes out of characters sounds odd and clunky. So, the upgrade comes from characters but if you kill the assassin you get 0 points bc he's a unit upgrade? weird. ” Yeah...he's a unit upgrade. Like Mad Gits are for goblins, you don't get points for killing just those either. It's a little clunky with army creation but making him count towards characters as well is a way to stop players taking one in every unit. Plus you can put the option to pu…

  • ....why was the hidden rule clunky?

  • I'de make them a unit upgrade. 0-1 for any Infantry unit, he gets boosted stats and comes with the equipment and abilities of the unit he is bought with. Also he gets Distracting (he'll be using the bodies of his unit to avoid being hit) and Lethal Strike (he's an Assassin, duh) as standard in addition to this. Poison of varying types can be an upgrade, as can other weapon options like Paired Weapons and Thrown Weapons. Give him an item allowance as well maybe, maybe take the cost of him out of …

  • I think you want page 10 of the rules. 3.C.a.1 Base Contact between Models across Gaps

  • For the Kin-Eaters you could just not let him deploy near your machines. eg. Stick a 1x60 goblin unit along the back edge of your deployment with the machines sat infront of the center of it. That's 48" of board edge he now can't ambush from. Doesn't do anything to the summoned Totemic Beast unfortunately, so you'll just have to not let him cast that or be ready to have something to jump the thing (eg. mad gits on the above goblin unit, or have them be forest goblins with throwing weapons, you'l…

  • Quote from Kosta: “@DanT @IoRi78 Just to be sure, how does this interact with manifestations on unit rather than on characters? Banner Enchantments Mikinok’s Totem(95pts)- Cannot be taken by units that count towards Core. At the start of each Round of Combat, choose a Special Item carried by a model in an enemy unit in base contact with the bearer's unit. The chosen Special Item cannot be used during this Round of Combat. As the daemonic manifestation is not carried by a model. For example, supp…

However I'm not 100% sure as they follow the rules for does not mean they are identified as special items (however, it was maybe the RAI) ” That's a…

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Question: how come there aren't a bunch of spells that target characteristics? was it a copyright problem? just too similar? ” Likely balance issues. Agility ranges from 1-6, so a spell that works on a failed Agility roll will work 1/6th of the time vs some armies (elves, etc) and 2/3rd to 5/6th of the time vs other armies (Dwarves, Saurian Ancients, etc). Balancing that is presumably beyond what the balance team can reasonably be expected to do at the moment, since we've…

  • Quote from xaby86: “Anyway, this is very unlikely, but LR + Distracting seems a bit broken so maybe LR + Parry would be better. Parry is doing well because there are few elf units that have it. ” But how often would that rule have any effect? - Spearmen can now fight elite opponents better, as they're hit on a 4+ rather than a 3+ - Elites with Off 5 do a little better vs Characters with Off 6+ Those aren't exactly common situations.

  • Quote from Kapten Kluns: “Quote from CariadocThorne: “You think we enjoy wounding on 5+ while being wounded on 3+ or 2+? Why should other armies hitting and being hit on the same numbers be a problem? ” Is this a problem for you then I guess it is a problem about the elven core units? Because elfs have a lot of options with better to wound chances than an on avarage of 5+.Dont think I have to insert what those picks are. The problem arises when you meet some tasty blender elf that will be hit on…
