  • The fifteen guys hit comparably to the Vampire Knights, and better for murdering characters. And it's not a bunker - it's a deathstar. Deployed 6 wide (fine even vs. narrow infantry) it's deep enough to get big flanks and murderous enough to kill a lot of things. Four big threats and two characters who can cowboy it up at a moment's notice, plus quad chaff, is really spicy. And they're not poor fighters. Lances with S4 AP1 is still high quality, and even off the charge Lethal Strike is a good th…

  • Quote from Klexe: “I come purley from a gernic point of view and just ask your grandpa if undead agyptian skelltons are evil or good in his opinion Ogre are more neutral as they only live to eat. Yeah they would eat you but give them food and beer and they are mostly harmless from a gernic point of view. That is just my opinion and nothing else. It still doesnt matter that there are way more bad armies then good armies and no good army is really the best at anything... always bad ” Ask your gran…

  • Quote from Kanadian: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “What do you *want* to play with? ” With UD I would love to play skeletons. In KoE knights... In VC Black knights. I dont rely play the other armies I won... as well I just dont for basing reasons. ” Mmmm. UD basic skeletons definitely do suck compared to everything else. Not sure what the issue is with KoE Knights and VC Barrow Knights - in particular, I was personally very tempted by the list DanT came up with for VC; Characters: 1800 points of tw…

  • When I think of the Lance formation, I think of a millstone around the neck of the LAB team drowning them... More seriously, people are never going to be happy with a rank-breaking Lance Formation. It is both too strong in the hands of a top player, and too fiddly in the hands of everyone else. The solution (IMO) is simple: It's purely for damage. No rank bonuses, just plenty of FiER so you can put an absolute cavalcade of Knights into a target unit and break it by virtue of there only being 4 m…

WhammeWhamme - - Ogre Khans (OK)

    Post

My Aurochs are OP MVPs. Don't know about yours, but my bad boys smash anything they charge, and they usually get to charge. And the entirety of Divination is brutal, but Aurochs can contribute just fine while being on 1 HP, the same which cannot be said of many monsters (those extra 4-5 points of CR before it gives up 1 and dies can still easily be the difference between "hold" and "break"). (and, honestly, given Divination's "make them hit on a 5+" power, I wouldn't cut the Aurochs if I knew I …

  • The "put it in a unit" weapon team design could use a 40x60 base - strictly larger than 25x50, so it would definitely fit, and it's not like displacing two more RAA is really a problem.

Quote from Traumdieb: “Wil there be price changes for us or direct beta? If price changes. Question is what can / will be buffed. Will that be the less than 5% play rule again? My wishes 1. Overlord build buffs i.e. Make Gauntlet, Agi potion, Death Cheater, Onyx become playable again. Mainly by price reduction of onyx core to 115. Making Infernal Weapon enchantable by common enchantments. 2. Taurukh Subjugator getting the less than 3 rank and file regarding distributing shooting attacks 3. Artil…

  • Quote from Eldan: “I'm not saying that they should always flee. But when they lose, they should. Because they are cowardly rats. And I think it's a poor game when everyone agrees that of an entire spectrum of 2-12, only 10rr is a playable leadership. ” Less than that can work. I've never been fussed by my OK being Dis 8 tops, f'rex. But that isn't what VS is designed to make work. Here: Quote from Lagerlof: “Quote from Eldan: “Quote from Lagerlof: “We do now. No other race needs to babysit their…

  • Quote from Eldan: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “I Fundamentally, though, I think hamstringing the best list by some amount of points and pushing VS up the schedule for LAB-ing is the best approach. The Vermin Daemon, in particular, is a band-aid holding a poorly designed book together; having a wide swathe of units that have terrible Discipline and no way to improve it to a decent standard other than "there is a Vermin Daemon on the table" just narrows list design; the Vermin Daemon "unlocks" half …

  • I have no say what-so-ever, but if I did I'd probably argue for some price hikes spread across the Vermin Daemon, the Plague Pendulum (specifically), Plague Disciples, Dreadmills and the Plague Catapult. Even just raising each of those by 5-10 points per unit would add up to 35-70 extra points across a list that takes 7 entries from that selection. I might also argue mercy and push for slightly larger hikes matched by small cuts to Gutter Blades, Jezails and Grenadiers; "sure, we nobbled the bes…

  • Well, based on recent discussions, "price hikes" seems plausible. Some things are just cheap for what they do.

  • Quote from Marcos24: “Perfect reason to trade some steadfast breaking power for model killing power! ” This is joke, yes? Lance formation will be prised from cold dead fingers of community.

  • Hrm. Perhaps: Honourless: (current stuff about ignoring challenges) + This character must make a Panic test if it ends it's movement not in a unit. ? Makes them pretty bad chaff unless being bossed around by a VD or the like... seems flavourful.

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “Quote from Klexe: “It is funny that we have the best defense ingame almost with 1+/1+/5++. Can any other character get as good as that? Mmh DH character can get even 1+/1+/4++ with shield wall for 165 magic points. Still for magic points we have a great if not the best defense... But still I often feel weak and we die really really fast.... Can't really say why currently ” There is far to much AP floating around at the moment. I understand that every army needs to be able …

  • What does " Remember that VS got paired-out in ETC so there will be a change in reaction to that alone." mean?

  • The thing is, hiding from them is worse than not, because unless you're hiding your entire army, you're crippling yourself to The Fear. They're going to fire. Unless they have no good targets, they're going to be doing reasonable damage. You basically just have to suck that up unless you have a way to kill the war machine while hiding your entire army. Hiding your cavalry to make them kill your infantry instead just means you're fighting down your cavalry AND they're shooting off your infantry. …

  • Quote from Tyranno: “Quote from Vamp87: “You must take quite small cavalry units. The spell does an average of 7 hits so against res 3 cavalry with no non-armour defence and 1 wound (best case scenario) you end up with an average of 3.5 cavalryman dead. You can't even take a unit of 3 such cavalry. So realistically, against a 10-man unit cavalry with the best case scenario for toxic your killing 20%-50% of the unit assuming reasonably statistical rolls. I also want to point out that plague disci…

  • Quote from DanT: “- Do just have the troops be afraid. Just having the words 'fear' and 'terror' on people's lips help build atmosphere. Yes... but why should dread elves be scary? Are we in danger of fear creep? And how does this tie in with those who don't want discipline mechanics? Or the concern that they do essentially nothing against 4+ armies. (Just playing devils advocate cos I think these questions should be asked; I am personally pretty agnostic on this) ” From a BG perspective, the Da…

  • Quote from DanT: “When people talk about the dread in dread elves and opponents being scared, can I clarify what is desired please? Is this scared inside the game or outside the game? Discipline effects for the opposing army? The actual human opponent is scared? (What does this mean? Should any/every army be scary in this way? Should they feel like they can't win?...) Something else? Are glass cannons not naturally scary units to play against, because if they get to their targets they do lots of…
