WhammeWhamme - - Infernal Dwarves (ID)

    Post

If it's a single model, the lone model is still a unit. It has Hard Target and a 4+ Aegis until it loses a HP.

  • Quote from Izomov: “Quote from Kratos: “i see a dark elf a high elf and a prelate in those images. ” a high elf with such strong natural attributes? Impossible! Also, no knife ears I quite like this, fits the french aesthetic no? Only need to lose the plate high heels the-ninth-age.com/community/in…635700579edbd0d028dff96b0 ” Actually, high heels make some sense on a knight. Their original purpose was to help keep your feet in the stirrups. High-heeled armoured boots are ahistorical but not actu…

  • Dan said non GW. I don't think anyone thinks GW Immortals are particularly good.

  • FTR I think the RT limits Wizard BSBs to armies with a significant strength in magic (SA, HBE, VC).

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Honestly the Immortal increase kinda works out to being a buff. The other reductions you still make up the points so your list is not above. So a big immortal block is more expensive but it's the point denial unit. While smaller squads of everything else got a bit cheaper. Objectively is this correct? or am I out to lunch? ” Well... sure, but if the Immortals hadn't gone up you could just stick more models in the unit for a similar but better effect.

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “in the guidelines it said the goal was to make the slaves a tarpit role. We gave great feedback concerning this. I'm glad it was listened too and I look forward to what the team has chosen for this. ” Remind me what that feedback was? Not saying it wasn't listened to just... there's been a lot of stuff to track in the LAB.

  • All the issues raised here so far around Slaves were considered. Assuming we didn't mess up (always possible), they should be fine; as of this moment, I'm confident we covered all the angles. And if we did mess up, we'll have plenty of chances to fix it in alpha or beta. One piece of advice: maybe don't built horde armies, even if the slim point changes make it appealing. It's not a target play style; vassals and slaves are supplements to an ID force, not the main course.

  • Quote from Hotelalex87: “it does not matter if it's orcs, human pokemon or unicorns as slaves, but if they lose the "vorn to fight" rule they will be too bad to play ” The new slaves do not have Born to Fight. They have different special rules, reflecting their status and role as slaves. This is for a number of reasons: - Slaves should not be one of the better close-combat hammer units in an army (that sounds like a recipe for slave uprisings) - The O&G LAB team should be free to change thei…

  • Quote from Giladis: “A question for people that are commenting on non-even numbers. If one of the goals of the T9A is to get the best balanced game possible with the tools we have available why would we not use the entirety of the value scale? Btw the doubling of point some time back was among other things to allow such incremental changes to the value of units. ” Because it annoys people, because there is no way we have good enough data to be confident that a unit should cost precisely 1 more p…

  • Quote from Jomppexx: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Quote from JordanBladen: “The minor changes on the ID book dont really matter and I wouldnt dig too deep into the changes atm as the full LAB isnt far off from what we gather? ” ...you'll be playing with the slim for a few months yet. Design work is proceeding well, but the actual full book... *wince* ” Few months? Any hopes we'll see the full book this year? ” Really unlikely. It needs art and stories as well as mechanics, and the mechanics aren't…

  • Quote from Kanadian: “Quote from Folomo: “Skeleton scouts for sure needed a price hike. Almost 90% of lists included 2. ” That is because there is nothing else I would want to spend my points on in core. Its the worst of evils. After chariots, a unit or 2 of ambushing skeletons, rest on cav to fill the required points. ” Good news: chariots + the skeletons will fill up your core now!

  • Quote from JordanBladen: “The minor changes on the ID book dont really matter and I wouldnt dig too deep into the changes atm as the full LAB isnt far off from what we gather? ” ...you'll be playing with the slim for a few months yet. Design work is proceeding well, but the actual full book... *wince*

  • Quote from Nicreap: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “I'm going to suggest that +2 CV makes sense and shouldn't be messed with, but that this might help justify also increasing how many skeletons get raised by the spell; as I said somewhere else, 12 per raising is actually in line with normal rezzing numbers for other units. I mean I know it's a brutal hit, but it is consistent with project policy on spells. ” how about leave the CV as is, and you have to declare whoch attribute you are using before ca…

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “Except Orcs in the Ninth Age are not necessarily green. (but aren't pink, anyway) ” Sure, but green is a really forgiving skin tone. For a skin tone. So unless we get metallic-skinned orcs... (...hmmm. Maybe an army of metallic-skin-tone troops would be cool for Daemons.) *bad WW* *no more armies*

  • I'm going to suggest that +2 CV makes sense and shouldn't be messed with, but that this might help justify also increasing how many skeletons get raised by the spell; as I said somewhere else, 12 per raising is actually in line with normal rezzing numbers for other units. I mean I know it's a brutal hit, but it is consistent with project policy on spells.

  • Quote from DanT: “One comment about differentiation: If units are fully differentiated in the book, then by definition there are some things that only vassals can do. ” Correct. Quote: “ Whether this is a bug or a feature, and/or which roles are appropriate to be vassal only, are probably very subjective questions with no right answer. But, it is certainly worth being aware of this and making these decisions consciously, rather than realising that one has made them by mistake. For example, I per…

  • Quote from Tyranno: “The latter is possibly an after effect. I do get tired of these Overlord nerfs. He does not have the offensive oomf to use any other weapon, people will not stop using the Onyx Core. ” Now if they would cut his price by 10 points every time they raised the Onyx Core by 5, that might make a difference... But yeap. Too much of his power is in the Onyx Core. His actual profile underwhelms.

  • Quote from Snarkhunter: “Quote from Shane: “I'm somewhat bothered though, because it seems to me the units that have had their points adjusted towards correct are the ones who are most likely to be entirely re-designed for the new book, which to me means that progress made on them is likely somewhat wasted. Which is not to say it's not appreciated, because as I said above, I'm very happy that those current incarnations are moving in positive directions. ” They're all being redesigned. It's a new…

  • Why not just add a core cavalry unit, a core monster and a core skink variant?

  • Quote from marcema: “Having a Captain on Rhamphadon as General is such a major disadvantage that the advantage of having rhamphadons as core won't pay off as there are more disadvantages to integrating the concept. Any civilization that is continously threatened by other races would have scouts as a core principle. So that would include fast travelling units and thus i think that some fast cavalry wouldn't be a bad idea ” Good theory. In practice, it means you'd see armies that are nothing but s…
