  • I think the basic problem with the army is not in itself the army book. It should be remembered that it's an evolution of a very very old list, basically 4th edition, or at latest 6th edition, written for a completely different power level. The problem is the level of power creep amongst other races, at the base end of things is so out of whack, which reduces a basic elf to a pseudo horde profile, rather than elite. A citizen archer is a good example, they do exactly what they should do in terms…

  • anyone know when the battlescribe catalogue will be updated?

  • Quote from Furion: “I wonder when will you all realise, that this patch is a 1 or 2 elite elves difference in competetive rosters, and the non-competetive rosters even with +150 pts are still bad. Like all this Highborn Lancers hype. I give it a week tops. Then the late to the party will admire the grandeour of point-inefficiency of Lancers and Griffons and Swordmasters. ” Agreed. The major issues with the book can't be fixed with points adjustments (e.g. AD base size, external power creep datin…

Have a wedge formation that gives light troops, and maybe some instances of FIER. Then the formation can move easily, but never break steadfast. (I'm not saying that this is a good idea, or a bad idea, and that it necessarily delivers what the community wants. And balancing it and preventing avoidance lists will be a headache*, I'm just saying that in principle such a thing can b…

  • Hey guys, I'm not a KoE player, but I played against and with my mate's brets army quite a lot of over the years, always loved them thematically, their perry sculpts are to die for (and given their current prices someone may have to lol). One thing I really miss about the brets of old (very old now) is the original wedge type lance formation, it looked amazing on the table, really captured the noble medieval hero type feel. One thing I didn't miss about my time playing with brets is how binary t…

  • why are shieldbearers twice the cost of the wdg war dais (and worse)? has there been any explanation of this?

  • Quote from PTG-Lucky-Sixes: “Also, in a similar vein, I have been wanting to create a list with my Griffin & 2 pheonix's for a while, but unable to fit them in until someone on the HBE forum shined the bright light down and pointed out that a mage on a griffin is cheaper than the prince or commander. Thus this list was born: High Prince + High Warden of the Flame / Light Armour+Essence of Mithril / Spear+Sliver of the Blazing Dawn = 520pts Commander BSB + Master of Conreig Tower / GW / Light Arm…

  • I've been doing some research, with only a little bit of a trimming Cang can fit onto a 100x150mm base. The ultimate distraction carnifex. cmon-e0010-0.jpg Put him on the table and watch as your opponent's testes shrivel in a vinegar of inadequacy. Then put down your second dragon

  • Quote from PTG-Lucky-Sixes: “@My_Kin fyi - there may be a (long overdue) batrep video coming your way on our channel in the next few weeks while I use the double dragon list! ” yassssssssss! you need to keep them hidden in your bag before deployment, then put down one dragon, which usually causes some excitement, then pull out the second one, and be like, oh and here's my other dragon. Shock and awe.

  • So far I haven't really seen any examples that I've really liked, I love painting skin tones in particular (though this hastily taken avatar pic with my phone probably doesn't show it...), and really spending time building the different tones, so not sure they're really for me. That said if the guys at Massive Voodoo show off some genius method I'll probably hop on board. The guy who does Nord's Painting Saga might do something cool with them too, he mostly just paints with washes with fantastic…

  • Quote from LastSword: “We have thought about it, dual kits but at the end... models are not too much different among them. For that reason we have decided to scult each regiment. Nowadays you can get Dragon Princes from Games Workshop. We are thinking about to scultp something different with our a option in the market. What do you prefert? Dragon Princes or something different? ” Though I'm quite happy with my old metal silver helms, there is a big gap in the market for highborn lancer models (w…

    this looks incredible!

  • Quote from Giladis: “If these "special characters" are all just for "fluffy" play what is stopping you and everyone else who like them to homebrew them? Why is the official stamp so important? ” That's fine, just really think it would be a missed opportunity. I hope there will be enough characters in the narrative of the background with enough description in order to do this. I'm sure loads of EoS players would love to have a go with Sunna, didn't a company release a model for her?

  • Quote from CariadocThorne: “Quote from My_Kin: “To answer your other point, if you can just build them with normal builds, they're not really special characters are they? They're just a suboptimal build for the sake of it, the idea is they should do something that isn't otherwise available to the army. Classic example, Marius Leitdorf, hilarious to play with, but essentially totally impossible to be properly balanced for tournament play, however shockingly that's fine, even more so because we're…

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “Quote from My_Kin: “I think it would really help sell the fluff and background a lot if the project released some special character rules, one for each race to begin with would be nice, and to satisfy any balance complaints just do what GW used to do, "you must get your opponent's permission to field this unit" so obviously not tournament legal, but would be nice for games with your mates. EDIT: The follow it up with highly publicised painting/converting competitions to…

  • One thing that I think would make them useable for casual games, but not tournament optimised, would be to give them special rules vs race x, or vs another special character, e.g. eltharion & grom the paunch. Those rules are fantastic for immersion and narrative, but because they'll be costed accordingly, they'll be inherently bad for tournaments.
