The latest issue of the 9th Scroll is here! You can read all about it in the news.

  • +1 for pirates!

  • Quote from namadeva: “Yo! Can someone tell me what is the difference between the Great Griffon from EoS and our Flying Chimera (as mount)? I see that ours is 55 points more expensive, and I get trouble understanding why... Cheers, ” One of them is from EoS, the other one is from WoTG. I hope that clears things out for you!

  • Quote from Theslaorm: “Hey quick question! When deploying, frontline clash for example, can i deploy at exactly 24” away from an opponent or must i be at 24.1”? Thanks! ” You deploy more than 24" so it might be 24.0000000000000000001" but cannot be exactly 24".

  • Quote from cptcosmic: “Quote from Arrahed: “But that is clearly not what was done. You can disagree with the amount of adjustments, or with the 'only points' nature of adjustments. But making false claims will not make people listen to you. ” that is what the article is saying though and what has been told here aswell ” I think you are really misreading it: Armies got a budget of points based on their tier (UD got a large negative one, HBE got a positive one) this budget was distibuted among the…

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “And Martial Discipline on Reavers is worth more than 15pts. It's the one unit in the whole book where it is worth the most on. I'd price it for at least 30-40pts on the reavers. ” Did you overdo Keto diet? At least 40pts. is beyond ridiculous.

  • Quote from Clangeddin Silverbeard: “Quote from Nasion "Demon": “Quote from Clangeddin Silverbeard: “I really don't know what all the complaining is about. Our sorcerer can fight fine with hero's heart. If you want two fighty mages, go herald and hero's heart-sorcerer. This feels like a total non-problem to me and yet another example of parts of the WDG community being able to complain about pretty much everything if given just an ounce of opportunity to do so. ” Guess it is about chaos has real …

  • Quote from Happy Aspid: “Problem is - with Hero's heart (that is not in WODG book) - every sorcerer can learn how to fight. Add destiny's call and you wouldn't know the difference. ” Last time I checked not all sorcerers are OS/DS 4, have access to plate and PW and have 2A base.

  • Quote from Furion: “The External Experts (which I am a part of) have received another questionare recently. Among many questions, the 2 most intresting to me were: 1. Propose up to 3 positions in HBE that should go down in cost (and why) 2. Propose up to 3 positions in HBE that should go up in cost (and why) Before you all start spitting fire about nerfs to lowest tier army - what would you genuinely put as answers to those questions? Looking forward for your thoughts. Maybe someone will put out…

  • @jaith1 you understand that HBE book is extremely littered with conditional rules - and that is a huge part in why it is extremely hard to build interesting lists with it. There are so many rules like - on foot only, once in a blue moon, when jupiter and mercury are in conjunction etc. (first 3 pages of HBE book contain 15 conditional rules). Adding even more conditional stuff certainly won't help the book, moreover it is just a sign of poor rules writing.

  • Quote from WastelandWarrior: “Quote from zertuiop: “I kill at least one of my mages per tournament it is a tradition. ” Since I painted my newest sorceror he has died to miscast hits every game, it's almost as if he doesn't want to fight and enjoy an easy life in the comfort of the cabinet of shame ” Or maybe, just maybe, you might be using too many dice to cast spells.

  • Quote from matrim: “The lion chariot was a staple entry a few iterations ago and the main difference was rerolls to wound helmet... Everything else you mention as a down side did also exist back then. He couldn't wear dragon armour either. ” He had better armour, one more crewman and most importantly core rules allowed chariots to be catapulted by joining units and by swift reforms when in units

  • Quote from Herminard: “You dont get a new uberweapon. Novalance will do. Or concept changes to BSB/honours will wait for the Full Army Book redesigns. How would you feel? ” Man, that was easy: Just like I felt in 2.0 after everything was nerfed to the ground. Although now it would be better to be honest as I have long shelved my HBE and now I live in a happy land of VC where I have large list variety and good internal balance.

  • Quote from cptcosmic: “anyone read the HBE description in the latest 9th Scroll - Issue 18? I dont agree with some of the things written but the biggest offender, let me quote Quote: “Martial discipline is a key faction ability which givesthe elves some staying power. What they lack inphysical resistance they make up with strong training. This ability allows the player to roll three dice insteadof two for discipline tests and choose the lowest two dice which makes their elven units more reliable.…

  • Quote from Wesser: “But you are happy that HBE have an externally powerful magic phase and access to lots of options in that regard? ” I wouldn't call it powerful to be honest, if I was to rate it externally it would be roughly middle of the pack. UD, VC, DL, SA, VS, WoTG have stronger phases than HBE.

Quote from 20phoenix: “I have 25 unpainted ghouls in my very near future so this was a very timely post! Any advice if you're just using plaguebearer contrast? I was intending to thin it with contrast medium to lighten it up a bit. ” Probably depends on the undercoat a lot. That said I used it undiluted over airbrushed undercoat going from really dark gray from bottom to near pure white from top.

Quote from Fleshbeast: “4Hrs? It would have taken me that long just to get to clip’n’stick them let alone paint and base to such a high level. Epic! Welcome back mate, missed these posts. ” Thanks a lot! The models were glued and gap filled before (I hate this part so I do it slowly), but painting using my method is super fast, and it looks nice on the tabletop (if you look closely the standard is lacking but it is unfeasible to paint ~250 VC core infantry models to high standard) .

Over the weekend I had couple of hours free so I wanted to test out some new paint related things I have bought - namely Liquitex inks, GW contrast paints and some dry pigments. I went on and painted my ghoul unit using really simple paint scheme: undercoat, zenithal light using white ink (Liquitex inks are the best airbrush paints ever, 0 speckling, superb efficiency no clogs whatsoever) and then Plaguebearer flesh contrast on skin, Goregunta fur contrast on leather and wood, two coats of nuln …

  • @Grouchy Badger to be honest the build is not good as there are cheaper and more potent builds.

Quote from Vamp87: “Quote from Adam: “Quote from Vamp87: “But it doesn't work as it is right now. It's a Nosferatu bloodline power but it's terrible in Nosferatu lists. Any independent count can get the hereditary using magical items without the blood power granting it. The design literally makes no sense; if it is priced correctly for independent counts it will always be overpriced for Nosferatu. ” Well, VonK blood powers are also better on independent. It is rather problem of weak bloodline po…

Quote from mrmossevig: “Looks so good! Are you planning to use it as terrain or units? What paint is on those empire soliders? ” As written above I am using it as two black coaches (if I put on vampires) or two Altars. The paint job on empire soldiers is as follows: basecoat with Vallejo German Panzer Grey, added zenithal highlight with Liquitex white ink through airbrush and then applied dilluted GW Akhelian Green contrast paint all over, making sure it doesn't pool and adding water to places t…
