I should be able to do that, yes. I will look into the neritica range in more detail tomorrow to see how much it restricts potential list building and figure something out from there. EDIT: regarding 75x75 bade sizes. Children of Ymiron actually have a large beast/monster with that footprint. Check out the "Angler Wyrm" in the book.

Quote from piteglio: “(Hidden Content) ” Indeed, Neritica players would find a good home in the Children of Ymiron. Most of their units have a corresponding unit in the children of Ymiron army book. Updated the book a few minutes ago with the 2.0 WIP version for up-to-date rules so that link Unfortunately became outdated just now though. x)

  • I've decided to upload my WIP document for the 2.0 release to get the correct rules out there ASAP. To see all the finalized rules and get an idea of how the finished book will look, check it out and follow along as I update and finalize it over the next few weeks. Might also have a battle report for you in a few days' time. EDIT: Forgot to mention unit size limits are temporarily gone after the layout change but will be back in a few days.

  • Big agree on AP and saves. Its just poor design to allow power creep in that area. A 6+ save in itself has pretty much been rendered useless and since we are only working with a limited scale using D6s, the effective loss of 1/6 of that scale is a huge glaring flaw of game design. The same line of reasoning on why a broader scale based game would be objectively better (using d8s for example) to better achieve fine-tuning of balance.

  • Book/thread will become way more quiet for a period of 2-5 weeks after which any few remaining rules changes will be implemented (atm only actively looking at Sea brutes regarding their base size, 40x40mm vs 60x40mm and rules that go well with whatever base size I choose). After this period, the rules will be locked from changes (besides any obvious issues or mistakes) and the book will be released in its 2.0+ version. The release will be accompanied by a full print-ready beautification of the b…

  • Made a big push to fix and rework some of the layout in the army list section. Text now aligns better, is more consistent and looks better.

  • Quote from setrius: “I like the idea of Hydromancy but the specific Path of Magic for armies was deleted. Maybe icould be a good idea create a Priest Character and give it Hydromancy as bound spells. That is all ” Ah yes, Im aware of their removal and I did deliberately reintroduce a unique path despite that fact because I had the opportunity to do so and feel T9A as a project made a mistake with removing them. I feel there is nothing inherently broken or problematic with having my own lore so I…

  • Reference section has been cleaned up to 80% and a piece of art was added on the page before that section so that the reference section becomes a 2-page spread later during print and there is a clear and well-designed separation between what will be the hobby section and the reference section. In addition, pts changes have been made to multiple units to make the less competitive options viable and prevent abuse on the upper end in certain combos. As an example, Royal Guard have had their startin…

  • Added a Quick Reference section at the very end of the book. Will fix the exact alignment of the text in the coming days and possibly add some sort of art. Until then though, it does the trick and is easy to navigate. But for now I need to get painting on a big batch of Coral Hunters!

  • Some small fixes. 1. One or two additional grammatical/layout errors have been squashed. 2. The 50/100 pts banner enchantment restrictions have been removed from units in accordance to the current norm 3. The Raider's Flag banner enchantment can now be taken by any unit instead of only Coral Hunters. The last substantial update for the book before its locked for a period will most likely be the removal and replacement of the "Scaly Skin" spell in Hydromancy. Not sure what I want for that slot bu…

  • Quote from nightovizard: “I must say that book is beautiful. Amazing work. This also makes me want to do conversions for idoneth deepkin so hard. ” Thank you! It is my intention to feature a part of the book (atleast the online version) with guides how to convert and/or paint certain miniatures for the army and also cover battle reports and explore a couple of builds one can do within the book. If you would find yourself doing something worth adding to the hobby section of the book, do let me kn…

  • Some minor changes made to the document. Mostly cleaning up minute layout errors and adjusting text to improve the visual design. Nothing too exciting.

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “Dying for some fluff ... falling dry over here ... don't have any setting for my orcs to be in ... no names ... 2 years ago I was pm'ing with a very intelligent fellow from the staff, a linguist, and he already had the rough guideline for greenskins language, and shared some words that could be real one day... but only a little ... Atm the community is bled dry .... please give us something to go on, a few great names, a sense of how the orc language would work, some cool …

  • Quote from Gludan: “Love the concept and book so far. Many interesting and varied units even though you only have 18 unit entries. Not bad start. Did you find good option for print online for physical copy? Considering starting a smaller Ymiron army and take it from there. ” Ive tried 3 different online printing services with my current favourite "Doxdirect" based in the uk. Decent prices even for 1 copy and good quality. Holding off on buying additional ones for a couple of weeks until book is …

  • Some experimental changes (approx 80% chance to stay until book goes gold) 1. Sea Brutes have been nerfed in their damage output and had their pts-cost as well as base size adjusted. 2. Sea Witches and Nautican Lords have had their pts cost reduced to better reflect their effectiveness in the army. Their inbuilt weaknesses and stat lines did not warrant their previous cost. Their upgrades have been slightly adjusted in their cost in some instances to compensate but this brings the attractiveness…

  • Also on a separate note. The lore is being developed nicely behind the scenes. Some of you will notice that the mermaid has been renamed into "Sea Witch" to better represent parts of this new lore.

  • Minor changes added and the last consequential rework is currently being playtested hard behind the scenes. 1. A couple of magical items have had their cost slightly altered. 2. Tapestry of Ymiron has had its cost adjusted back to 100pts and can only be taken by a BSB. 3. Nautican Nobles can now choose a mount option in the form of a Krakling.

  • Some minor rules changes: 1. A couple of magical items have been very slightly adjusted in their cost and reorganized accordingly. 2. Some basic equipment options for characters have been sligthly adjusted in their cost. 3. Water Elementals now have a 50x50mm base instead of 40x40mm. 4. Myrmidons have been renamed "Royal Guard".

  • Quote from DarkSky: “@Goatrek What is your estimation on the "wetness" of the rules. Do you foresee a lot of changes? I am asking whether it is a good time to start making a BattleScribe file for this, or whether it's too early. ” Ive been hard at work to playtest and iron out any errors in the book. With the path of magic now introduced there are not many changes left at all. I only need to tweak some final numbers based on playtest data. I could see the rules being locked for 2.0 gold anywhere…

  • Additional changes including a big one. 1. A handful of mistakes in layout and text have been fixed. 2. A moderate amount of improvements to the lore section have been made. The text reads better and more clearly now at certain points. 3. Clarification that the "Siren's Song" is not cumulative has been added. 4. The new army-specific magic path Hydromancy has been introduced! This replaces the option for mermaids to choose between Druidism and Divination and will be a much better fit both in ter…
