  • Quote from HKYUGOK: “Quote from Clanlord Skabrius: “Quote from HKYUGOK: “I like forest Prince ! ❤️ ” I think it's a princess, but you never know with elves. She looks like she has an absurdly high kill count (mostly ratmen) and likes to call her non-elven companions lumberfoots and mayflies with a Scottish accent.@Norbaminiatures, I'm looking forward to see your future miniatures. ” I looked again, actually it's hard to see. I see a man but maybe you're right. ” The Spanish webstore says 'Princes…

  • Quote from Feaynnewedd: “Hi! Do you guys have experience with Nolzur's Miniatures? They seem really cool looking with really low prices. And non-GW for individualism for kicks. Seem ideal for 9th Age - where's the catch? I can get stuff because a friend is visiting from the US over the holidays. Any advice greatly appreciated! ” I like them as well, there are some very characterful miniatures in their range that would fit well with T9A factions. The scale may be an issue when compared to GW mode…

  • Quote from Eldan: “You say there are still cool moments. I ask: where, exactly? ” It just happens when you play, I guess? A hard-fought battle and a unit or character performing well with both sides being impressed by their performance without one-sided slaughter is a great moment. A recent example would be me trying out some Dwarves I got second-hand for the first time, and how the Seeker unit + Dragon Seeker managed to halt a Sylvan Elf King of the Wild Hunt and his riders (with a lot of luck …

  • Quote from Nemeroth: “Having briefly commented and read through this thread I’m pretty disgusted at the amount of people who having taken and used everything that has been produced by 9th Age to date, would gleefully chin this fantastic project off the minute GeeDubs hints that they might bring some half-cocked money spinner version of 8th edition back. Were your OP special characters and 6 dice purple suns really that important to you? ” I think a lot of the negativity in this thread is largely…

  • Virtues for units? A magic weapon based on Excalibur/an artefact based on the Grail?

  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think you have to be able to move your charging unit legally at the start of the phase. Friendly units moving out of the way during the charge phase doesn't open up paths for new charges.

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “spotted ! (Hidden Content) ” Part of me was hoping for time-travelling Cuatl Lords after reading Eldan's question.

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “In 2019 it would be super slippery in my opinion to reintroduce some « doomed » nation such as the Strigany that were obviously based on prejudices against the Tzigans / Gypsies / Rroms, who were said to steal kids to feed their Strigoi masters. ” Why would that be bad? I imagine there's quite a few nations that got destroyed in the Ages of Ruin, overrun by Orcs, Goblins, Beasts, Infernal Dwarves or the Vermin Swarm. The remnants of their people could be romanticized caravan…

  • Halflings in T9A

Clanlord Skabrius - - General Discussion

    Post

Halflings should be too busy with second breakfast to serve the lords of the night. Maybe it's Tolkien nostalgia, but I can't really see a halfling society as anything other than a sleepy agrarian community living in an idyllic backwater region.

  • Quote from Persedious: “Oh good, there is a thread for this because I have a burning question regarding the scroll. On page (2) of the scroll, someone is holding an unpainted model of a dragon. WHAT IS THAT MODEL AND WHERE CAN I GET IT!?!?!?!?! I HAVE TO KNOW!!! ” The paragraph above says it's from a Kickstarter project, 'Time of Legends: Joan of Arc'. Looks pretty cool. I've often seen Kickstarter models sold on ebay after the project has been released and shipped. Some Kickstarter projects als…

  • I'm pretty sure it replaces the original movement. Wouldn't be much of a debuff to fast units otherwise.

  • Interesting thread. I'm inclined to agree with Calisson and Peacemaker on the whole 'serfdom isn't slavery' thing. Someone else mentioned the possible advancement of slaves, and that reminded me of the Jannisaries in the Ottoman Empire in early modern times. They were slaves kidnapped from foreign lands, but were raised to occupy important positions in the military and could even rise to key position in the empire's administration. Looking at the world map, it struck me that slavery is almost om…

  • I'm going to do some thread necromancy over making a new thread for this question: how old do the various races get in T9A? Elves being thousands of years old like in Middle-Earth or that other setting that's gone now seems a little absurd if you consider the realistic effects that would have on population growth. However, a lifespan of several centuries for elder races like Elves and Dwarves seems fair. If an age lasts at least a millennium or even 1500 years, very few creatures should be able …

  • The way I see it, vampirism has two possible points of origin in the world of the T9A. - In the Third Age, when the psuedo-Egyptian civilization fell into undeath, creating all kinds of different undead life forms (for lack of a better term) - After the Infernal Dwarves broke the veil at the end of the Sixth Age/start of the Seventh, allowing the seven sins to influence the world in all manner of ways. I prefer the second version, as vampires are generally a reflection of certain sins (lust, pri…

  • Quote from Kudis: “the names "dryad ancient", treefather ancient and avatar of nature and thicket shepherd are all horrible names and just a description without much immersion to me. =( ” It's true some T9A names are a bit generic, but I understand this is to avoid legal scuffles with Games Workshop. In the future, name changes are possible and even encouraged if they're good. Feel free to suggest alternatives. Furthermore, nothing is stopping you from referring to a unit by another name and thi…

  • Quote from LoeC: “Mm, How are Nabh and Olaron btw? They are cult in the Dread elves codex. And Cenyrn? Is something wrote yet? Bladedacers venerate this one right now. ” Nabh and Olaron are the Dark Elf versions of Nyb and Cadaron. I don't know anything about Cenryn, maybe he's an elven god/godess or a wardancer of legend.

  • A quick doodle of the elven pantheon from the wiki. There could be mistakes in there, but given that the lore isn’t really set yet, there could be room for discussion. Below are my quick opinions on the subject. the-ninth-age.com/community/in…bff385cbc321cd2919920f327 Amihair and Moritaur represent the archetypes of the allfather and the queen. They each have three aspects. Given that each elven subrace is very distinct in their character, I imagine they would each highlight different aspects of…
