Tbh. You can kinda do that by turning the Makhar Lancers into Heavy Cavalry Archers.

It's more for character sniping. Against ogres, yeah it won't do much.

Makhar Lance, Stallion's Tempest, Blessed Inscriptions, Potion of Swiftness, either a Black Stallion or a Great Elk. That is the basics of it. Defensive kit can vary to taste. Also either he or another character in the unit (like an Enaree) needs to carry the Spirit of the Herd as well.

Depends on how you build the Gyula. I have built a version that smashes almost anything he touches. The unit I place him in can then charge anything it wants in the front and generally wins. Plus he gives the unit Lightning Reflexes and Battle Focus. The unit essentially hits on 2s at worse now with S6.

Quote from Ghiznuk: “We'll see how other supplement armies cope with that, but for example, i'm pretty sure that the Tsuandan army will also include a lot of units « borrowed » (read, « shared ») with Sonnstahl, such as Heavy Infantry, Light Infantry and Heavy Cavalry, only with slightly different rules (the same way as Barbarians get a different « Battle Fever » rule in the three ABs). ” Hold up. Are you saying that when EoS gets done, there will be a Chinese-esque auxiliary?

Interesting character setup. Not a fan of the Gyula?

  • Put me down as interested.

But you ARE making her vanguard. Which helps cure that. And makes her seem more like she fits in the army.

I didn't mean she has to be better at magic itself. Just not a basic human statline with no abilities or upgrades.

Thank you! So many times I buy horse archers and go "nope can't put her here". Then buy vangaurd for a lancer block... but then have to take it off or she is defenseless. Also right now she is SO bland. Nothing interesting about her that makes me want to take her. Only the obligatory nature of magic makes me do so.

Quote from Krokz: “Do you see any glaring problem that cannot be fixed by points for this army before we close it and make it gold? ” I totally forgot! Can we please have the option to buy vanguard for the Enaree? Because right now she is a detriment to any cavalry unit she joins.

Quote from Ghiznuk: “Well, that are called « Shadow Chasers » after all. Can't be white or brown, with such a name. ” It does evoke an air of mystery around them as well. The idea behind the why was to increase the amount of damage. Hitting on 2+ is amazing, but auto-hitting is just a hair better. Plus it avoids nonsense like Hard Target and cover. I would love to run these past a unit of seekers and just strip a rank off. Plus I am weighing up if having S4 or AP1 is better. And I have faced a f…

I think I am going to try it. Not sure what kind of list, possibly a high shooting one, to really maximise the outside combat damage. Also because I am not 100% happy with my Flayer models, and instead will make new ones which are Elite Mongols (not with better armour, just more details and trinkets) riding on pitch black horses with a different horse-tail from the rest of my army (to help break the visual a bit more). I am currently looking at the Mangudai from Age of Empires 2, or Keshig. Base…

Quote from Krokz: “Makhar are steppe people and use herding animals for survival. As said from start Makhar use their hunting tactics for war and one of them is using their knowledge of steppe animals for war too. My inspiration for it was intro of this Marco Polo episode: youtube.com/watch?v=Jzhwup4zIK4&t Instead of heaving a fantasy element of flaming horses, we used fantasy element of fictional animals being herded into the enemy. ” It's not that fantastical. The Mongols did it with Camels to…

  • Quote from tunasandwichify: “Looks almost like Jugger armor... ” Maybe. Hmmm... I am just trying to zone in on what historically they most resemble. Then I can tone the models down a bit and push them towards that design a bit more.

  • The chaos horse armour is really familiar... but I can't quite place it. Can anyone spot where in "the world" it's from?
