  • Quote from GSbasic: “Academy units may always charge the flank of an enemy unit engaged with another academy unit as long as they follow the rules for charging (1 pivot etc). This would create a much scary core battle line without violating the guidelines of limited lateral movement. It will also support the mmu/MSU playstyle and the academy training of working together. ” A variation of your idea: Academy units gain Swiftstride in case they declare a charge on an enemy, which already is in comb…

  • Roman Theme but which army?

Quote from bridoscot: “My only main concern with DE would be how to make the monsters work? I want to try and stick fairly close to actual Rome and stepping away from the mythological side so not sure how I could make the Dragon/Kraken/Hydra/Medusa etc. work? Or if they are even 'must haves' in most lists! ” Just pick other models like a Warelephant and use rules for kraken etc.; its legal as long as base size is correct.

  • at 1): supportive, tactical units with options to CC (like Bayonet) An old bookmark on RAs for discussion: Quote from Grimm: “Quote from duxbuse: “It's more about fear and psychology, pinning the enemy than actual deadliness. Much like the hunting chariot I would like to see the repeater crossbows effect enemy movement, rather than increasing the killing power. ” Quote from arwaker: “Someone suggested to allow their shooting before movement phase. That would allow a lot of different tactical opt…

  • Quote from KiRaHyuU: “"The inclusion of monsters and beasts should be a defining trait that makes DEstand out from other elf armies. However, be careful to not create overlap with units existing in other elf armies, as this is intended to differentiate de from other elf armies. Think about how to make room in the book for this area to be expanded." ” the monster theme is what thrills me the most. Bring in hordes of harpies and their matriarchs; heavy-plated carnosaur mount for beastmaster; hunti…

Quote from toots: “that 4++, i call it "hiding in combat"!! ” [Introduction by senior gladiator to apprentices of Yema]: "Know this, disciples: Nabh is the art of winning, its essence is the merciless thrust for victory. Yema is the art of enduring, its essence is not to lose. Therefore Yema will always be triumphant over its sibling. Contemplate this on the sand in the arena."

Good fluff! The first time i feel the 'Dread' to be authentic/immersive and the cultist themed army to be very inspiring. Its this grim 'Mordheim'-ambience, look and feel with the wierdness of Ctulhu-mysteries, which you catch very well.

  • Quote from Krokz: “Quote from Altao: “Partially disagree - it can be symptom of too similar role of units and picking just most point-efficient - so it cannot be fixed by points. ” Well my next sentence was about arch-lists. Currently WDG can do a couple of them. But for an army that is about close combat, you can't have many different solutions to it, similar to combat focused armies of VC and BH. If I play 3 games against VC on a tournament their lists/play styles are more similar than if I pl…

Quote from Lord Temnir: “I am not privy to the decision as of why they came up with the name in the first place, but it oddly strikes a note when thinking of the German word "Scharfrichter" for Executioner. (Scharp + Judge) Maybe they came up with that. What other name would you propose? Executioners is a no-go. Headsmen is weird, Deathsmen is outdated. Hangmen or strangler inaccurate. Garroter too. The only way is to invent something new or change their name to something like "Bladesmen", "Hatc…

@WhammeWhamme some more late entries Corsairs: The Daethen courts often sentence violent criminals to military duty in colonies and on board of naval vessels. The Corsairs are a band of murderers, cut-throats and reavers, infamous even in far away lands for their heinous acts of cruelty. Harpies: Swarms of humanoid, vulture-like beasts herald the arrival of Daethen armies and frequently accompany corsair vessels, as they feed on corpses of the slain or rip apart whom they catch off-guard. 99810112006_MandrakesNEW_01.jpg Dark eldar mandrakes, which were mentioned earlier @Peacemaker, may be a sweet model alternative for the medusa: they look like somekind of Dark Acolythe-coven on foot; i.e. they look like casting magic (like medusa), hit with 2handed weapons (str5), and may hopefully be assembled as 3 miniatures (removable to display health loss of 3hp medusa) on one 40x40mm base.
