  • I guess part of the question is how often that situation happens going forward.

  • Quote from nantuko: “Going to Norwegian masters next weekend and I will be playing the following list: 610 - Avatar of Nature, General 330 - Thicket sheperd, BSB, oaken crown 775 - Treefather Ancient, wizard master (Druidism), magical heirloom 439 - 25 dryads 456 - 26 dryads 239 - 6 heath riders, Heath Hunters 435 - Treefather 500 - 5 thicket beasts, C 615 - 6 thicket beasts, C 100 - Great Eagle after having seen the meta I already regret I didn’t go with my full elves list so I expect an epic f…

  • Don't forget our racial trait comes with a free forest and tree singing. I agree something more distinctive could be better tho. Even just Distracting in the Forest for Forest Walkers would be fluffier and cooler I think.

  • The potential problem I see with adding strong rules explicit synergies between trees and elves is that it looks good to us as an idea because the idea is all upside for us on paper without being costed. However, those synergies will have downsides and costs too, likely in costing extra points. What this might mean is that the troops with the synergies are less effective for cost outside those particular situations the synergy applies to in general play. My experience of those type of synergies …

  • I mean you're not required to like him. I do though, and some players (like smithF - check out his battle reports) got pretty good use out of him even before the update, where eagles both as units and mounts dropped in points. We'll see how he goes in the data over the period to the next update, but I'd just make the point all things don't have to be liked by all players for them to be good.

  • Quote from Razon: “I'm not sure who the survey is directed to, the tournament scene or the casual gamer? ” It's directed at players of SE who would like to talk about how the army is currently. As I said the old thread people were using to just generally discuss SE wasn't so relevant anymore since it was started addressing the an older version, hence a lot of the info in that thread was out of date to a new reader. Quote from Razon: “So, just in case someone missed my very sarcastic point; why b…

  • One of the problems with mixing elves with trees is different base sizes. Shielding Bark was originally concieved to make an elf be able to join Dryads I think, but that was a sticking point. Also the main idea of synergy between the races I think is that elves are the (glass) hammer and trees are the (wood) anvil. One reason that doesn't seem to happen as much is that Dryads are so often taken as min size scoring darts. How would people suggest we make that interaction work better? One idea i w…

  • Hey Elves and Trees! What is your play experience with the latest version (after the late 2020 update) version of the SE book? Are you finding it better / more balanced than before? What new combinations are you choosing? Are you finding SE more appealing after the update, and are you seeing more SE players putting armies on the table? (The old thread that we have been using as a place for general forum conversation is a bit less relevant now, with a lot of stuff relating to pre update - so I th…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Quote from Hachiman Taro: “I dunno man there's always more flavour to be gained (likely in the full book) but the army of Legolas and Treebeard has always been the coolest to me, and that everyone doesn't think the same is a plus from my point of view ” Wouldn't Legolas be a high elf? Was under the impression that SE elves don't make an appearance in Lord of the Rings (no Dark Elves, either). Could be wrong. As an aside, why do all the trees have flammable? Burning living…

  • Honestly, after the latest update I feel like we should now have a thread "Are more SE appearing in your meta?" instead of this one. I understand they might be rare or not the meta in Spain, but I also feel like the latest update was pretty darn good to us within the scope of what such an update can do. It may be that it isn't enough, or it may be that it's too much - I won't know until we have a lot more data. One tournament isn't enough for that. But one thing is for sure, the project takes ba…

Quote from Aenarion43: “Quote from duxbuse: “Quote from Aenarion43: “as much as exploiting every single segment of the game extensively to maximize win percentages (even if only by fractions of a percent). ” This is where your argument breaks down. Some times it may be fractions of a percent. But often times it's the difference between being charged or being out of arc, or being a flank instead of front. These milimeter differences decide the whole game, they are pivotal points. Charging and over…

Quote from Eastern Gate: “Quote from raulmartinv: “And what it was your triple treeman (Avatar + TreeFather + Treefather?) perfect combo and why is it not legal anymore? ” Sorry for the late reply, the triple treeman combo is still legal, its just the army I created around the treemen was rendered illegal. Btw, any news about making the champion in briar maidens not count towards unseen arrows? I know they got a nice point drop but imo its still not enough. My usual unseen arrow setup is 3x5 hea…

  • Quote from DanT: “Quote from Clangeddin Silverbeard: “Quote from DanT: “I am somewhat of the opinion that macroscopic/big picture strategy can be the best defence against snipes. Of course this is quite matchup and list dependent, so is hardly a magic bullet, but still often worth considering. ” Perhaps I understand what you're saying, but your statement is just a bit too vague for me to be sure. Care to elaborate a bit? ” It is highly contextual, so hard to do so.And as a result, whatever I say…

Quote from Herminard: “3. If so you please. I prefer to be quoted. 2. The idea that bringing all the sub-tier 2 stuff up to tier 2 would not affect the metagame for the armies in tier 1 seems ill thought through. In the next cycle the gap would ofc lessen again. The gap between the tier 1 and tier 2 would slowly converge. ” That might be true. You don't know it though, you're not presenting evidence for it, you're just saying it. Perhaps it's just what you convince yourself is true because you h…

Quote from Herminard: “Quote from Hachiman Taro: “Then the factions with the biggest player bases would steadily more powerful. It's more or less nonsensical anyway. There were far more point reductions in this patch than rises, so the project is doing what is asked anyway. People just focus on the fewer rises / nerfs for various reasons (some understandable). If nothing was able to be nerfed then everything would have to be raised to the power level of the most powerful thing, meaning everythin…
