Quote from Hombre de Mundo: “ And I feel like you're looking at the biggest, most complex games around and say "no way you can do this with a small team" but that's not where you should be looking. ” Of course you can create a small game for a small community. Example of such successful project is here: Song of Blades: Hammer and Forge. But... do you really believe future of wargaming is 300 small companies each releasing own game only a few hundred people in the world ever heard about? Because …

And despite having such boost in the beginning it failed to reach most players not connected to tournament scene... roughly 90% of old community. ” Sorry for self-quote …

  • @Remy77077, thank you. I have posted updates in a few places, but not in the most important one Fixed now.

  • I've just purchased a new 4500 army quite cheap. Not very competitive probably, but I hope fun. Check if people around you are selling ogre part of 'Feast of Bones' - usually you can get new ogres at half price. For Giants check Mantic - those are nice models and affordable unless you go for frost giant.

Generally: Legal-wise miniatures are not protected as they are not pieces of art but mass-produced goods. If we couldn't publish picture of miniatures than almost no pictures could be published at all... a car, a building a piece of cloth, all of them have the same or stronger copyright protection. In more details: there are some exceptions and traps. Picture of hand-sculptured masters could be protected. Registered trademarks being part of designs are protected (please, no minis with Nike logo …

I doubt we will see miniatures in 'official materials' - that would break the policy of project being 'miniature-agnostic'. However I am planning to include two types of miniature pictures in stormrider work (marked clearly as supplementary material to official one): 1. Painted armies: the-ninth-age.com/community/in…unity-competition-thread/ 2. Miniatures by supporting companies

Quote from Hombre de Mundo: “The days of going to a hobby shop to pick up models are at their end. The technology is at a point where small businesses can create awesome models, reach global audiences through the internet, eliminating the need for a store, offering great, fresh products at a more reasonable price. ” I believe you mistake miniatures for products. IMO miniatures are not products, they are only co-sales to the main product which is a game. Without Warhammer, GoT, Hail Ceasar, AD&D …

3D printers are like casting from resin. If you can do this on your own it will be cheaper than buying minis. However purchased resin models of good quality are more expensive than hard plastic ones. If you can purchase a 3D printer, master technology and overcome health hazards you can have cheap minis. If you want to purchase ready 3D printed minis from a company... They will have their price.

Hobby shop is not a good business. They make profit only thanks to games like GoT or XWing which are releasing new, better units every 2-3 months. They support such game to survive. Having our books in shops will help them accept us but I am afraid they will never support us at the cost of real income generating games.

Because company CEO's most trustworthy people ever. PR @piteglio, PR. They will never admit directly to competing a community driven project. They will never take legal action against such project directly. This is why decision not to sell any official goods by project has a strong justification. But they will fiercely compete with us. And they might take legal action against supporting companies if they perceive our activity as offence of their rights. BTW, wasn't KoW among games which lost com…

The competing part has been discussed many times. Even if you believe you do not compete you are viewed as competition by companies and most shops. Telling their customers they can have free rules which are fully supported is act of war... The game subject is only secondary feature. Probably even FFG with their XWing views us as competition.
