  • Easy dudes... I would refrain from builds for now - if you are anxious enough to ask, you are too anxious to risk it changing unexpectedly or a communications snafu. And the kind of detailed spoiler Tyranno gave is not authorized (and, possibly, not accurate). Like I kinda want to give details, but things are subject to change and it's easy to misunderstand something.

  • There are probably *multiple* Oracles blessed by the Dark Gods. Thing is, that means they've got a new master, because the Dark Gods don't really give away "gifts". Gifts implies a lack of reciprocity. If the Dark Gods give you anything, it is because they *own* you. Mind, body and - especially - soul.

  • Quote from wokrze: “Quote from Shako: “(which is going to be really close to the actual realease-date). ” Which is? ” A few weeks after the day we announce the release date.

  • Quote from JemDF: “But WDG are supossed to have mutations and gifts from their gods, and elves aren't. Is there a relationship in the lore that justfies an elvish Oracle receiving gifts from the dark gods?. ” An Elf could be a worshipper of the Dark Gods, but that would more properly be a WDG army with cool conversions or a variant Elf list, not something that'd come standard; the Dark Gods are not allies of the Elven pantheon. THAT SAID, there are definitely ways change your form other than a b…

  • Morkwood was a typo, but if I ever do an army of Orc-themed Sylvan Elves or Sylvan Elf themed Orcs, I know now where they would come from...

  • Quote from Marcos24: “@dan I like that answer, that makes more sense. I can understand not wanting certain units to be able to switch between HW&S, and make buying another optional weapon a more difficult choice to make. I actually agree with Peasant Levy not being able to do that, since it adds more value to Castellan, since it’s only ever taken for cheap chaff it seems. - My first attempt at making sense of it would be changing “every unit has a hand weapon” to “every character has a hand-weap…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Quote from Hachiman Taro: “I dunno man there's always more flavour to be gained (likely in the full book) but the army of Legolas and Treebeard has always been the coolest to me, and that everyone doesn't think the same is a plus from my point of view ” Wouldn't Legolas be a high elf? Was under the impression that SE elves don't make an appearance in Lord of the Rings (no Dark Elves, either). Could be wrong. As an aside, why do all the trees have flammable? Burning living…

  • Dude, what do you expect? Literally - what kind of reply are you looking for? There is zero chance of me "admitting" it is a bad rule, because I think it is a very useful rule for speed of play and making the choice between sword-and-board troops and other units meaningful. I do not understand why you are upset. Please explain why you are upset, and please, PLEASE be specific. "You don't understand" is not helpful; if true, surely the correct course of action is to try to help me understand? (an…

  • 90% of the point of the Weapon Master rule is to be able to switch to sword-and-board for parry and +1 armour save. The other 10% is marginally improving your damage based on swapping between halberds, great weapons and/or paired weapons. I'm not hung up on buffing levy. I don't give a dang about levy, they're cheap spammy troops and will remain cheap spammy troops with or without the buff. The units the rule change y'all want would break are Kingsguard and Citadel Guard, who are dwarf units who…

  • Quote from Marcos24: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Quote from Marcos24: “@WhammeWhamme so let me ask you this, and see if you can come up with a simple answer: if any unit could** switch between different weapons before a battle without weaponmaster, even a lord character, why is handweapon specifically excluded from that? ” I reject your premise. A handful of units - I would say less than one per army - can, under some circumstances, switch between two special weapons without having Weapon Master.…

A handful of units - I would say less than one per army - can, under some circumstances, switch between two special weapons without having Weapon Master. That is not "any unit". It is "very very few un…

  • That does not cover all possible instances. Things slip through. The game needs to be future proofed. And if you think it is trivial to get a bunch of untrained random dudes to change from polearms to sword and board or vice versa in even galf an hour of yelling at them... I suggest you try commanding LARPers in the field. It is not easy, not at all. You can easily get them to physically do it, but you will *not* keep good order. Not without training... which levy lack. Yes, it really IS hard to…

  • Quote from echoCTRL: “So it is standard practice to give things from beyond the veil the Following: Fear, Fearless, Supernal, and an Aegis Save. I would like to avoid this as I think it makes the spirit section of this army too elite. I am considering Natural Spirit The model gains Supernal. A model with this rule treats all models without Supernal as Insignificant. This means I do not have to assign the model Fear, Fearless, or an Aegis Save. I can use the Counting Coup mechanic for a fortitude…

  • Quote from Marcos24: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “. It's not desirable to have units choosing armament without Weapon Master ” See, I find that hard to believe. It that were true, it would never have been a rule, it would have been a loophole. But it’s written very specifically on both parts, “units can do this, but not won’t specially that weapon” edir: or is that you’re personal feeling? ” The rules have to cover "what if a model has multiple special weapons" because it can happen. If we assume …

  • And as poorly trained serfs, they should not be able to effectively switch between combat styles. And they cannot. So what's the problem?

  • Quote from Remy77077: “I just realised Mad Gits still use random direction movement. How do people usually resolve that in T9A? I'm firmly in the "guess-ranges and scattering templates was an absolute nightmare" side too, and I was just a teenager at that time, definitely not a tournament player! ” Unlike a template, mad gits just need to brush the unit to get a full-power hit, so a few mm or degrees doesn't make much of a difference. Like, getting a template moving in approximately the right di…

  • I did not mean to draw a divide between tournament players and non by saying "casual".

  • Quote from denelian5: “@Kratos You could also go down this road: CD Doom Engine I just not too sure it'll fit the base ” I'm quite sure it won't - one of the shots has some 20mm base models riding in it, and it's about as wide as five of them. Still, you could consider it to also be a kind of unit filler... if you have the displaced models from the sides riding on top of it, then you can put them in the tray if it gets cannonballed off the table. Or Crossbowed. (I fielded one last week. It lost …

  • The tactility of templates is neat. It's also inherently contentious, because the angle of scatter literally looks different depending on which side of the table you're standing on. Like, that's not a metaphor for where they want it to go - I mean, quite literally, the angles look different depending on where you're standing. And even a single millimeter difference can have a big impact on the outcome of the game, because it affects how many models get hit. In a casual game where you're handwavi…

  • There are historical minis for Assyrian Siege Towers. If they fit on a 60×100 base you are good.
