  • Hi gals and guys, has someone any new infos / spoilers / teasers on the legendary version of the 2.0 Rulebook? Or are there new infos that I missed? Any news you can share? A time-schedule? Is it even on the way? Or maybe even some teasers like artworks, single pages of background and stuff like that (similar to the father chaos christmas event)? Just looked at the 1.3.5 rulebook again and it's so fabulous

  • Something about the website: When I want to download stuff, I always have to click Downloads -> respective book -> Download (xx mb) -> Accept license terms. Then I have to w8 for my browser-tab (firefox) to download the book before i can click "Save Document" to finally put the file on my hard drive. Maybe a minor problem but this has been nagging at me for quite some time and dang, it somehow annoys me more than it should. And while I'm hooked on the 9th-Age anyways, it might seem really unprof…

  • Thanks to everybody involved for making this happen! I love it, wohoooo. I remember when I sat together with some friends several years ago when one tabletop ended and we came up with our own follow-up best-of-ruleset, had some fun with it and then found the 9th-Age, doing what we did on a bigger, greater, admirable scale. That this project managed to come up with rules for 16 armies, core rules and this level of balance is great. I just realised that this might now be the most stable, reliable …

Feel like this hasn't been answered yet. Quote from Casp: “I just see that in V2.05 light troops cant make wheel anymore ?! So that means you have to always move straigh forward and make reform i guess. What is the reason of this choice.. I feel it really complex to have a complet different style of move just for one kind of unit of the game ? And the difference between, wheel, and move and reform, is really subtil but is real, some move become impossible. Make this rules even more complex, if y…

Bugman wrote the announcement of the 205 army books. I think he did great in explaining why they changed the things in the way they did. While I'm sure some people still feel like the balance team just rolls dice on point costs, I don't and I can get totally get behind the changes. Bugman wrote amongst other things: [Good external balance is] "the reason why there are very few points increases outside of the armies marked as stronger than average. We know that top builds in the armies marked as …

Please lets not open that pandora box of base discussion again. Some people prefer one thing, some the other, both are sure that they form the absolute manority and they don't. Rebasing can be done and is no giant deal, yet would bugger some people extremely. Maybe all your miniatures can be easily rebased. That's not true for every mini. Maybe that disappointment is worth it, cause it reduces case-by-case inconsistency for monstrous cavalary and stuff. I don't want to advocate one or the other.…

  • Quote from youngseward: “DH Rune of Denial says "the bearer may choose to use this rune rather than making a dispel attempt" Rune of Devouring says "the player may choose to use this rune instead of making a dispel attempt" I assume both so be the same - think player is the correct one... ” This is totally off topic, but I just have to say this: This direct comparison made me imagine two tabletop-players having to stop their game and give in to desperation, because this stubborn dwarf-miniature …

Some lines / layouts don't quite fit. Might sound nitpicky. Sorry for the guy who changes this. Not major points, but nevertheless shouldn't be in Gold. p.42 first line should be on p. 39 (need to run several pages till you find end of paragraph) figure 17 should be really near 11.B.a (text and graphic not on same double-page) p.49 figure 21 explanation and graphic are not aligned p.83 figure 35 explanation and graphic are not aligned (btw. p78-79 does it correct, if its unclear what i mean) p.1…

@DanT It's not about how it actually works. That's good. It has to be a complex rule because there are many cases. What I dislike is that the BASIC case "how to place my champ / how to place an elven prince in a unit of elves" is one subsection of this very technical, very long, very complicated rule. Someone who plans on building a crazy unit needs that rule. Someone who find himself left with nothing but 3 heroes on the battlefield will certainly need that rule. And that's ok. BUT if I just wa…

Hi, about Front Rank and characters I'm not that active on the forum and I'm sorry if my point has been discussed already, it's quite likely that I missed that discussion. I just stumbled across the abomination of a rule that is Front Rank. I mean this thing is listed casually among special rules which usually consist of 3 sentences. It's a whole page of text with special case after special case. I would wish for 2.0 to: a) give characters an outside chapter So not only have characters two pages…

Quote from Alzam: “Quote from Lightelder: “Flagellants rule was changed in EoS. "When a model with Fanatical is killed by a Melee Attack during step 6 of the Round of Combat Sequence of a combat its unit is Engaged in, remove it as a casualty only at the end of Initiative Step 0." in 1.3.4 it says: Casualties suffered in Close Combat are removed at Initiative 0. This is marked as a rule change. Does it change any interaction? (I really don't know, can someone please explain?) Why so many words n…

Hi guys and gals, wanted to say I love how you communicated this. I grabbed the 205 rulebook asap and was a bit disappointed in how little changed. I like the long explanation you gave in this second announcement. Now I get your reasoning and I can totally get behind it. And sure everybody will have some unit he would've loved to see buffed/nerfed more (it's a deep hobby, why wouldn't they). You really did a good job at giving your reasons, I think it helps people understanding and also apprecia…

  • Giants: Few things provide an ogre with as much bragging rights as defeating a giant in a battle of raw strength. This can be a fight for life and death or a good-natured competition such as "who-can-produce-the-flattest-scrapling". A defeated giant is likely to accept the winner as his chief, since enormous strength often goes hand in hand with enormous meals. Two-senstence-limit overstepped. Could delete 2nd sentence but didn't want to

  • Mammoth Hunter Some Ogres roam the wilderness alone, hunting and sometimes taming beasts that no sane human would dare to anger. When a nearby tribe needs help or a big feast is coming, these hunters join the battles and campfires to offer incredible strength, barely tamed beasts and fantastic stories (which may even be partly true). Btw why don't we offer flavor texts for our big names? Big Name Wildheart The most successful hunters lead an arsenal of brutish beasts alongside some Ogres to take…

  • @Konrad von Richtmark I like all of your suggestions except the one with the Iron Orcs. The others are great, give character and differ nicely between orcs and goblins. And the goblin raiders one is jst great. I personally don't like the idea of Iron Orcs (or any orc) being "disciplined". In my opinion, their high leadership and imune to psychology come from - being very experienced fighters who have fought together longer than most orcs (thus most rivalries etc have been settled with fists in p…

  • Shaman: Subtle or well constructed magic is for the weaker peoples. While bellowing at the sky or feasting on remnants of mighty creatures, Shamans use brute strength to bend magic to their will. Rock Auroch: Ogres are capable of subtle strategies. Employing a Rock Auroch is about as subtle and yet as effective as throwing a middle-sized tower at your enemy. Scrapling Foreman: An almost average fighter shines brightest among the weakest of kind. Tusker Cavalry Controlling the Silk Road becomes m…
