  • I think that is almost exactly the concern here, that if we're getting the blanket statement that ''This design represents the peak of offensive potential for Elf Lords'' and that design appears to be a little weaker than some of the current designs SE already have (5 attacks being available to Blade Dancers, Shifters and Forest Guard, 6 attacks available for the Hunter, combined with better 'soft' stats like agility, defensive skill and AP, which crucially opens titanic might up as a good optio…

  • question about Wulpis's Throne King build; doesn't the second rune of Iron not do anything since he's already maxed out? Armour 4+ from Plate, 2+ from Throne, 1+ from first rune of Iron, and armour is capped at 6 and therefore the second doesn't take him to 0+. Have I missed something?

  • Call me biased, since I'm aware that I have a fairly narrow view of Sylvans, however what I like best about Sylvans in their connection to pagan/celtic/pre-/early-christian fairy tales and as such I prefer the Fey vibe to the elements of nature vibe. It's a thin line, as Fey are essentially nature spirits, however I think the difference is that Fey spirits are symbiotic with nature, while nature elementals are simply nature given form. It's about autonomy, and character, and I think there are in…

  • thoughts on might/might/destruction vs craftsmenship/fury/destruction? I've been playing the Fury Smashing Destruction King on foot and enjoyed that damage out put, dropping down to 4 attacks seems like it's relatively easy to miss 2 attacks, then fail a 2-wound and flub.

  • Can we revive this thread? Have some general dwarf questions not really worth opening their own thread for. For example I'm going to soon get my hands on a Throne, and I'm wondering about builds. How often do attacks go into a king, and how much defense do you think is necessary for them? I know the standard build is Might x2 destruction Shielding/Shielding, this build seems awfully expensive to me. And 6 wounds with a 1+/4++ save is just so ridiculously tough, does anyone throw any attacks into…

  • I don't think it's a horrendous idea to lean into our gimmicks when considering LAB's, it'll help differentiate army books. For example ID's gimmick about flaming + flammable is a major part of their identity, and lots of their units take advantage of it. Some of their units, including their spells, and came opponents flammable. It's a fun and characterful synergy. I'm not saying copy it exactly, put letting forest synergy play a bigger aspect in our games isn't a terrible idea if we make forest…

  • It does have pretty impactful consequences in game which have came up in my games more than once. 1) A Blade Dancer character is the last surviving member of a Blade Dancer unit within a Wood. He is no longer part of a light troops unit, he has no light troops himself, therefore he isn't stubborn and flees where as if a single Blade Dancer survived he'd have been stubborn. 2) Pathfinder character was in a pathfinder unit, it gets depleted by a fire ball to less than 5 models. Next turn the Chara…

Shieldbearers doesn’t make much sense on a king, because you probably want to buy ancestral grudge anyway, and by the time you add shieldbearer and grudge you might as well pay the extra 60pts for 2 extra hp and an extra grudge.

  • It wasn’t overlooked, it was directly pointed out several times over production, it had just been ignored. Blade dancer characters also are missing light troops, meaning that while a single blade dancer model in a forest would be stubborn a blade dancer character is not. There was an argument that characters don’t need light troops because stubborn single model characters are a bad idea, but honestly I think it’s just a basic consistency issue that’s taken far too long to be resolved. @Hailshot,…

  • I'd also like to see a unit like the above, but I think I'd prefer to see them in a ''Ninja rat'' auxiliary book. 0-2. Small unit size, I'd probably think of them as Blade Dancers with less eliteness but more tricksy. Say max units of somewhere between 16 and 20. Offensively they'd have 1 attack, but paired and tail weapons for 3 attacks, or a tail weapon (in the new book I'd seperate paired weapons from tail weapon) and throwing stars. Str 4 ap 2. Only Ws 4, so with paired weapons they'd be 5, …

  • I hugely support the idea of a Forest spirit auxiliary book which expands upon what we have already. Not to be *tooo* derivative, but I enjoy the idea of thicket weaponry, however I would go about it as a completely new unit as opposed just upgrades for a Thicket Beast unit. You simply cannot give A 4+/5++ Resilience 5 Str 5 model a great weapon, they'd be the most resilient hardest hitting unit in the game. I'd call them Grove Wardens, Ws/Ds 5, 3 wounds resilience 4 Str 5. Think elite Shabti. W…

  • Dwarves have limited access to magical attacks apart from war machines, characters and hold guardians. Spectral Hunters are very very cheap right now, so I know I'd include a unit of 10 to hunt down the back line. Dwarf characters are all standard. And all rely heavily on armour saves. And all their character mounts and war thrones come in wound multiples of 2. All of this adds up to...being the perfect target for barrow guard! A Barrow Star is absolutely terrifying for any dwarf unit, because b…

  • Maybe wait a little bit before solidifying your impression on the big boys, perhaps they're getting a little help rules-wise pretty soon I think the new Scourge is really useful, as long as you leverage what he does alongside the rest of your army. What the Scourge will do is go into a unit or monster, take 3/4 wounds himself, but kill the thing over 2-ish turns. He will reliably do this. And usually the 2nd big combat he gets into, his dies, and sometimes get to inflict his damage. But if you l…

  • Out of curiosity, what would opinions be on the Blade Dancer kindred being turned into a MotcT-like upgrade? Porting the MotcT upgrade across, would you pay 150pts to upgrade a chief w/ a 6+ aegis, Dances of Cenryn, Fearless, give his unit swift-stride and being a Witchraft adept? Or would you prefer the Blade Dancer upgrade and the Witchraft upgrade to be kept separate, in order to keep our cheap Blade Dancer BSB's?

  • Things I want in the LAB: More forest spirit options, that aren’t big trees. Sprite swarms. Elite Dryads with Ambush. Differentiate between Pathfinders and Sentinels into peerless scouts and peerless snipers. I don’t care which is which. A forest spirit kindred, that allows elf characters to join dryads. Or optional general only upgrades for the Matriarch. Dryad generals are soo boring rn. Separate Blade Dancers and Shapeshifters into their own slots. Fix the Unicorn. 6” +1 MR would do. Finally,…

  • Can I make a request for a Dwarf list? Interested to see what you would do with them, considering your crusade as an Infernal Dwarf. I've been playing about with converting your 3 blocks + bits'n'bobs over to Dwarves, but it didn't feel right without the Infernal Engine to road block things and Grudgebusters don't really do the same thing, and the lack of offensive magic means it's not easy to pick up points. What would your take be on a list that would interest you? Trying to avoid rps lists li…

  • Quote from 20phoenix: “Its not the price that stops me taking Dorac - it's the snipe protection you get from taking aegis save instead ” You can get Snipe protection in more ways than just aegis. 2x Aether icon is 20pts, obsidian rock is 25pts. It's 45pts for MR4. Not suggesting you have to go this overboard, but you certainly can and it costs you less than a 5+ aegis. If Sniping is an issue in your meta then between malady's, fountain of youth and mr there are several ways to mitigate them.

  • @ferny I do quite like them! And I think I'd like to run them in a very similar way to @Firthunands91, as a second dwarf anvil in a list that uses up core points to take Marksmen. Spear warriors are fantastic, but in an ideal world need both rune support and hatred support to really shine. So that means you rune 2 melee blocks in core, or 1 core block/1 elite block, or you waste the rune smiths +1 AP and risk his low range (12'') by bunkering him in a non-melee unit. And assuming that I'm bringi…
