  • Quote from McBaine: “Quote from Pigtails: “The giant thing is just sort of whatever. I think it'll be used at our local tourney when things settle down for some more monsters. Don't really like it for us or many other armies, but it's cute ” Ugh, don't get me started on the giant thing. I hoped it was an April Fools joke. Where was the background driven design there? Correct me if I am wrong, but in my opinion this supplement was just "Hey, wouldn't it be fun if everyone had a giant?", then for …

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Ah, right. It is true that the KoE Guidelines (for the LAB) don't exist yet, but the setting details from which they derive largely do. So ehn. *equivocates*. ” I'm curious about this too.It was hinted that there were at least some rough guidelines written so that LAB's don't infringe on each others unique themes. Can you guys confirm if this is indeed the case for KoE? ” That sounds like an RT question - the guidelines are their department. So I…

  • Ah, right. It is true that the KoE Guidelines (for the LAB) don't exist yet, but the setting details from which they derive largely do. So ehn. *equivocates*.

  • Quote from Marcos24: “@WhammeWhamme i see that, but I believe they think there is a hidden “KoE background” section that regulates or sets the parameters for design. When you mention the “official” setting for writers to reference when writing stories that isn’t intended to be released, even that setting doesn’t have KoE stuff yet. And I think, that THEY think it does, and should therefore be released to help them come up with ideas If you would’ve told them from the start, “that stuff you’re as…

  • Quote from Marcos24: “@Pigtails @Sir_Sully I’m not sure why he doesn’t just say it but.. there is no massive background text for KoE that is kept secret. For KoE specifically, what you guys already know or have seen on the main rule book, scrolls, and front page of this forum (if you guys pay attention to that at all), that’s all there really is. When the LAB team for KoE starts then they’ll start all details and stories and unit descriptions. And, like they did for the DE, they’ll post their id…

  • Quote from Pigtails: “On bowmen: I will say I find it weird that stakes give cover and not like DTs or something for units charging from the front. I think we all understand that you take shooting to deal with shooting but it's also a little strange when you rule it as a fence. I guess it can be filed under "just works better that way, but a change could be nice." Maybe add a few auto hits if charged by cav or large units? Nice simple little flavor you can add in addition to the fence thing whic…

  • If your immersion is broken by 24" range handguns and 30" range longbows, I'm amazed you ever found your way to this project.

Quote from Cam: “When did the process start? October 2018 or earlier? Cant find the initial guideline thread. ” Define "the process". March 2019 is when the LAB team started work, but the RT did guidelines before then.

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “That is because, bluntly, you are not designing this game, you are not supposed to be designing this game, and as such you don't have access to the background on the same level as people who ARE designing the game. ” Which I'm happy to accept. What I dislike is when team members then come on to the forums and hammer us becuase "that doesn't fit the fluff", etc. We then ask why it doesn't fit the fluff and we state that it fits the released fluff. …

  • Quote from Traumdieb: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Tyranno mentioned zero invalidation. That includes combinations of weapons. I'm not sure you'd want to give them both (they don't combo as well now), but if you modelled them that way then it's still legal. ” Serious? 23, IW with Blunderbusses and Great weapon plus an anti knight (with blunderbuss) were quiet good and are now a good bit cheaper (31 pts are 5% less) while Antiknight stayed the same price due to potion of swiftness increase. ” <--- …

Quote from Dark Assassin: “Any news on when the new ID book is due out? Jack. ” When everything is done. Please note that COVID is causing delays as well as giving some people extra time at home. I think two teams are having time blowouts because key personnel are suddenly overworked IRL. =/

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Nope, nope, nope. Fluff comes first, end of discussion. Your accusations are false; the BGT did not begin from GW's lore. It is a ground-up fantasy setting, and the fact that we haven't publically released all the details doesn't mean the BGT haven't spent six (or more? not sure, I don't actually know when the project began, just when I first found it) years working on it. "Mechanics first" design is BAD design. It's "oh we need to WIN GAMES so le…

  • Quote from Alkasar: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “You're not a lawyer. The only people who are qualified to make suggestions like the ones you're making are lawyers. If you can find an actual lawyer (with a relevant specialty) who agrees with you, go get them to tell us how we could do it. (Probably the stupidest thing is that because you're making your suggestions in a public forum, even if one of them WOULD otherwise work, the fact that it's now out on the internet that you were just looking for …

  • Quote from JimMorr: “@Giladis the problem is Background is the only team that accepts no feedback. Rule team, army teams they all publish beta and then gather feedback and publish optimized designs. Background team designs and then publishes. And whatever they publish instantly becomes 'golden'. They create a lot of stuff in hidden layer. So far they have spent four years designing something we have seen only small parts of. Hidden design for such a long period created a huge risk that you miss …

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Cherry picking is only an issue if certain units are actually better than other units. But this is a brain storm thread, just kicking ideas out there. ” No, because the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts.

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Quote from theunwantedbeing: “Quote from Chronocide: “For the 3.0 game, what about the option to field units from other army books in a combined army? ” It'd require a complete re-think of how we do balancing (aka we're definitely not doing that ever).Since the points value of a unit in army A is based on how it fits, it's slot percentage and what else in the army can be used, offset against it's points value....so putting it in army B gives an inaccurate points value, an…

  • Tyranno mentioned zero invalidation. That includes combinations of weapons. I'm not sure you'd want to give them both (they don't combo as well now), but if you modelled them that way then it's still legal.

  • Yeah - I didn't say HW/Sh Warriors will be useless (or invalidated) - just not very exciting. If you just want warm dwarven bodies with armour and the lowest points per model/unit in the book, HW/Sh Warriors are where it's at (and sometimes you just want a cheap bunker or something). But GW and Blunderbuss IW are more likely to do something other than meatshield or stand near a marker.

  • Hw/Sh warriors are probably ok but not exciting. Other configurations are probably more fun.
