  • Bone Chariot right now: Silly, like a Giant carrying a chariot like it was a toy Bone Chariot with Swiftstride: Grimdark, Architects fashioned a Giant's bones into a chariot and then had it resurrected.

  • This really isn't the place for Åsklander discussions, but now you got me curious...Wargs? Unarmored, non-scoring, without combat special rules, Wargs? Comparable to Shabti in effectiveness? Did the Åsklander meta make a strange, massive leap forward when I was looking away? Did someone figure out something that we'd missed? Anyway - For the next few weeks, I'm going to assume that it's just a long joke like the Oceanborn were, and will be gone in a few weeks. In that regard it's interesting and…

  • That means it's official the same way Åsklanders are, @IHDarklord My opinion of that however is: God damn it. Some of these Giants break internal balance HORRENDOUSLY.

  • Yeah, I can see some value for Sphinxes if you're running a single Architect alongside three Sphinxes or so, where you can pick to put the regen where it has the most use. Though I don't like the +5 on Sphinxes anyway, their wound pool is so small that it's not mega unlikely to just not pass a single Regen at all. Still, that block of 8 Shabtis with a supporting Architect remains our heaviest, toughest hitter. Nerfed or not, I still view it as worth its points.

  • The way I see it, the cost of an Architect is somewhat comparable to the cost of an Regen upgrade per model. Lets say that you buy an Architect to give regen to 8 shabti - You essentially pay 25 points per model for the regen. When the architect cost 160p, you paid 20ppm. This also means that a Sphinx essentially pays 205 for a Regen upgrade, which is quite a bit more expensive. You can see why one is preferable to the other.

  • I wouldn't mind if the Giants were made official in later updates, but in their current forms they're both stepping on the toes of internal balance in many books, like with us having both Colossus and Giant that perform near-identical roles, and varying from bad to insane. Hellblaster Giant, Knight Giant and Zombie Giant spring to mind. Having an actual Bone Giant would be fun, but it would need a heavy re-design in either the Giant or for the Colossus to be a reasonable addition. @Stygian How m…

  • Complaining about the balance of an april fools release? It's the same shindig as the Oceanborn, it'll be up for a few weeks and then go in the archives. Or so I bloody well hope, nobody wants to see a Giant with a Hellblaster.

  • Architects, mostly modern architects, and lack of oversight don't mix well, though. You get some real weird stuff that way.

  • It's a darn shame the Giants aren't official, I'd love to see BONE CHARIOT stay. Both a monster and a chariot? Sign me up! I'm sure that some Architects are going full mad sciencist out of sheer boredom, so absolutely bonkers constructs are not just possible, but probable. Have to keep it in mind in the future.

  • Looking quite solid! What'd you use for the arms and legs there?

  • It's rather nice to be the underdog every now and then, though I'm sure a lot of folks disagree with me on that. It's nostalgic. Just, hopefully we'll not be stuck in that rut for longer than next winter. It's a shame that we don't really play like undead should play in the meantime, but at least it's a good experience to improve the next version with.

  • Hell yes, I've been waiting for this.

Regular humans wielding magic weapons is also distinctly off the old world feel, but eh.

I'm not sure, but the spell type is Caster, as the Caster targeting reads like this: "The spell targets only the model casting the spell (unless Focused, all model parts are af- fected". So it seems like it would, but you'd have to ask in a dedicated rules topic to be sure.

Obsidian Rock is pretty sweet, recently I played a list with Casket, Crystal Ball and Rock, just to flex on my opponents with effective -4 to their casting when targeting the Pharaoh.

  • I'm currently playing a list that features 4x15 of them with Paired Weapons. Extremely good units, being inexpensive, Scoring, reasonably resilient and hitting way above their weight class due to having combat rules both against high-toughness and high-armor units. Very finicky to play of course, due to dying easily, but pair them up and you can think of them as essentially being 2x30, just split into two to ensure that the unit can't be decimated by a powerful opposing unit.

Yes, the Shamanism attribute would work. Double Crown Pharaoh was a thing at some point (Crown of Pharaohs and Crown of the Wizard King), as a support-centered piece, but given that the Sha has a very low offensive output, I'd suggest Godslayer+Crown of the Wizard King, to have some utility and some notable punch.

  • imgur.com/a/wKcCYed @nightwuns Horsemen of the Apocalypse list looks quite fun, the roster alone is wonderful. Cruddy picture, but you get the point.

Guess the price buff on the big man worked? In all seriousness, the reason I bring the Sha is that both DH and WDG are very popular, and very bad match-ups for UD, and the Godslayer Pharaoh both neuters and HURTS their strongest models. The popular War Dais Lord with Portent, in a box of dudes, for example is just completely negated merely by putting a Sha in front of it. I assume similar reasons are bringing them out of the woodwork now. Lord-killer Lords are popular, and Sha Godslayer is the L…

For an opinion supposedly not in the minority, there is a strangely miniscule amount of people echoing those opinions here.
