No update that I know of! Last round of updates came end of December 2019 so tournaments started with this update around mid January and ended early March due to the current situation. 1,5 months worth of data are not enough to make a significant analysis. Regarding gut feeling that depends both on meta and opponents. For instance I only played the same excellent HBE player (twice) with my BH so I'd say they are top tier... but it's really just skill gap. No objective estimate, you may only get …

  • Not necessary, you can just slap a heavy armour/shield/BAxe and go! They're all res5. Just keep in mind that BH need to reliably pass their dis test to not run away after T1 shooting and get rerolls in melee. There are ways to circumvent (soothsayer sacrifice, crown of horns, drunk/fearless/insignificant units) but stay careful to not offer your characters for the taking if going light.

Quote from Ghiznuk: “Oh, and since we are at it, maybe some foreign intervention would be nice, like from Ogre Khans or Highborn Elves Don't know how that would fit in your timeline though ” Only one such project at a time in the foreseeable future unfortunately Ogres (refugees probably) are enrolled as auxiliaries by some warring states, for now that's the closest in terms of foreign presence! Some entries, notably auxiliaries, can freely be interpreted as foreign troops. PDF updated in origina…

I use boars from AoS dual kit orc riders. A bit of GS and kitbashing and that's it. Fenrisian wolves are 40mm round bases according to the description so the wolves themselves should be around 60mm long with tail, 35-40mm high and a bit over 15mm large at the shoulders. It might be a bit narrow, depending on your preference. Picture & size comparison for the boars I used: full unit + size comparison with metal GW razorgor in the middle -a bit larger- and GW gor. the-ninth-age.com/community/ga…dd…

Quote from Ghiznuk: “Hello, excellent work ! From the lore sources you mention, it seems you forgot the one in the UD illustrated army book, that mentions the country having been ruled by human dynasties before the dragon-emperor. The tombs of those ancient tsuandanese emperors are guarded by the Terracotta Army. And up to this day, there surely are some partisans of the old human dynasties wishing to oust the dragon, who use ancient rituals to awake the Terracotta Army and wage war on the usurp…

Good catch, thank you! I just rechecked and found a few other mentions of it (Immortal Emissary), it's in the fixes to be made for next revision (probably within a week). Originally it was named Unfair Warfare, I changed it over worries of how it sounds (horrible when I -try to- pronounce it) but if it is understandable consider it back already! It fits the army and describes the category better, featuring unusual means to victory (at least for human factions) with spies, giants and/or otherword…

  • During the country wide quarantine so far... I finished a Homebrew project started months ago! Posted earlier today in the Homebrew section: Tsuandan Warring States This was actually despite the pandemic which increased my workload: most likely I won't do much more in the near future...!

MODELS SUGGESTIONS To be updated (being compiled… slowly!)[/i] TO DISCUSS - Army orientation and its implementation; for instance, I am a bit worried about the Levy/Soldiers/Jade Dragons co-viability. It may be a bit like VS slaves/rat-at-arms/vermin guard or DH warrior/greybeards/king guards situation (I don't play either so not sure the comparison works and if this is also a problem or not). - Balance in terms of designs (some highlighted in above comprehensive review) and points; - Equal chan…

ARMY OVERVIEW The army is focused on infantry, with human stats. Characters and elites have superior Off/Def. It has a large amount of attacks both at range and melee, but low Str & AP even on artillery, with few exceptions. It is vulnerable to psychology at a few exceptions (some fearless, some insignificant) but Line of Command may help with that. Terror bombs still work though, and Line of Command disruption may be catastrophic. Entries follow a specific segment: standard units with levy and …

  • Some notes regarding the BH list: - Centaur BSB is basically 4+/4++ Heavy armour + Death cheater, you can achieve the same with Destiny's call alone getting Aegis instead of Fortitude, also present on your general so sharing same weakness to flaming. Save 40pts in the process, 45 if dropping throwing weapons; - 6 mino + shield without musician are 530 not 550; Since the list is at 4495, that gives 70 extra points to play with!

I never could do much with my chariots, usually my infantry blocks won the game (i.e not that often :D) How do you usually use them? I mean, besides zoning which I don't see as an option when you invest in 10. And especially against elves with their 9" advance cav...!

Do you think 1 is enough, or that 2 are preferable? (As in, 2 actually better than the impact of 1 times 2 - not sure I'm all that clear)

Interesting data in there, thank you for sharing @Calisson! Generally speaking, what keeps us from doing more polls? People to write, analyse? Not a daily occurrence of course - but for instance once a year about a quarter after releasing the balance update to assess it.

It interesting as well to ask which of these they intend to play in the coming 6 or 12 months. I have 3 (maybe 4 with some stretch) at 4500+, but actually only play with 1 and I suspect a good amount of players here are in the same situation.

BH were not popular in GW's time despite good models since WFB6, when they were a supplement to the chaos army. They were openly depicted and treated as low tier Chaos lackeys - think about the early levels monsters you'd meet in any Diablo-likes This legacy did not help: less people had an army ready than for other factions, less exposure, etc. On top of that, game-wise the reasons have been carried through: BH have no LAB yet, limited lore, similar structure and playstyle as in WFB8 so there i…

  • As several pointed out, if GW's goal is to take back the low fantasy or rank & file section that they have given up then KoW, T9A and other alternatives will be their competitors. If they put actual will into it, GW will bring in people, making casual games ready to find due to the player base. Each T9A player that leave will not be replaced by a W:TOW one, leading to an eroding player base which is not that large already. T9A is certainly not doomed and had a lot to show, but shrugging off this…

  • Seems like W:TOW will really be only centered on the old world, i.e Warhammer Europe. Exit lizards, dark/high elves, tomb kings, ogres? This might be a point to work on to keep an edge. Another strong selling point: Homebrew! They existed for WFB but were never recognized or mentioned in any way. Finding a way to somehow include, endorse them or improve their visibility should be a lead. Similarly to mods boosting video games - or lack thereof / restriction killing off some (cf. Warcraft reforge…

  • Unshelved BH to let a friend practice for a tourney. Considering he is WAY better than me and that I felt BH stood no chance against his list, I am quite satisfied with a minor loss (HbE got scenario)! BH vs HbE 9-11 MVP: razortusks LVP: centaurs + all 3 ambushers + beast chief. Basically I had (don't recall exactly, I played one of his potential pairings): - Lord in razor cart /fatal folly - BBChieftain on foot, 2+ Arm vs non magic (too fragile build given his pivotal role) - Soothsayer druidis…
