Quote from Fleshbeast: “Quote from JimMorr: “Soon... tumblr_pvth12ioEx1xj3cdro1_500.png ” @Hachiman Taro did this leak from the SE LAB? ;P ” No it's udderly wrong.

  • the feedback I gave to the project on the SE Giant was 1) The SE community generally seems to think their Giant is fun and fluffy (maybe not super competitive, though most seem not especially concerned about that) and appreciate getting it. 2) They are quite disappointed that the Giant counts towards Unseen Arrows (the missile category) - even when it does not take the bow. They seen this as unnecessarily restrictive on a unit that isn't a missile unit anyway. Any further feedback from further p…

  • I see you leaf brothers and sisters! Your feedback on the Giants supplement is requested! 1. Have you guys tried them (on UB)? 2. Are there any combos or potential abuses you have noticed? 3. Are they fun to play (with and against)? 4. Do you think they are a good addition to the game (maybe with further balancing) 5. What do you think of the SE Giant? P.S. In case you didn't know about the Giants Supplement, it can be found here: the-ninth-age.com/community/ne…h-age-supplement-release/

  • Not to forget the smallest unit roster I believe.

  • It'd be nice if we could get forest synergy to wok well but it seems easy to get wrong in an army that is heavily manoeuvre based. It's very easy for it to become an anti synergy, tying us to specific places on the table. Or, if it makes us too strong near the forest and not strong enough away from it, that can make stalemate or too RPS'y games oo likely too. On the other hand, if we could make it work in a cool way, it could help solve the movement + shooting = avoidance = unfun games problem. …

  • One problem with points of view and especially points of view in words, and particularly those in writing, and even more particularly writing on the internet, is that it by necessity tries to distill many very complex things into one simple thing you end up expressing. And thus many nuanced shades of grey tend to lose fidelity and become either black or white. It can be both true that balanced lists are better against magic missiles and that we could make further refinements to improve the varia…

  • So if we combine the 'tree/ Elf anti synergy', 'Elves need magic missile counter', 'needs to be an interesting choice rather than just a straight resistance' and 'No special Rules' parts of this conversation into one solution I think that solution would be; Swap Divination or Druidism for Witchcraft on Dryad Ancients (gaining SE access to Twisted Effigy, and other spells which are useful to both Elves, and Trees in combination with Elves) This might also encourage character led blocks of Dryads.…

  • Quote from CariadocThorne: “Aegis vs magic seems very clumsy and inelegant to me. We need more counterplay to magic blastyness IMO, not flat protection. In other words, it should be more like our defence against BS shooting, and require careful positioning and planning to make full use of. Having SE needing to dodge around, using cover, range etc to mitigate the effects of shooting, but be able to just march straight into a barrage of fireballs or whatever just seems wrong. Giving us skill based…

  • i think they used to be, but it was taken away, hence the problem.

  • The other thing I like seeing in SE is connection to seasons, partially because you see a few seasonally based SE armies (Fall, Winter, Spring). Connection to the elements is ok I think if its done in a smart nuanced way, especially where they are combined in cool contextual ways - like a Storm Roc could be considered a spirit of air and water combined, not so crude and much more naturally nuanced than say a straight water elemental or whatever. Nymphs might work.

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from Falco: “Treefather ancient is wayyy worst than normal treefather, he should take deffensive skill 5, impaling roots 3 and strenght 6 with ap3, no matter if you reduce attacks to 2, the importance is to do stomps with Str 6. He is old but no stupid cmon, 460 points are enough Avatar of nature is on a god spot but it should be more Orion oriented or at least creat one new Heroe similar to shapesfither but with a bigger base and better stats (more points). ” I thi…

  • Quote from SmithF: “Well done Shannon, very impressive results! Now let me go back and find all of the posts of our fellow sylvan elf players in this forum claiming that "only Tree lists can work" or that "Bladedancers are crap" and so on. ” I think you'll find they're mostly before the most recent update, though some people may not have caught up There's quite a few variations that are pretty good now I think, played well so SE are in a pretty good place. You still need to play them skilfully, …

  • I'm not super across OK so I'm not sure why the discrepancy there. It has been noted however, and will be brought up again next time there is an opportunity for change.

  • I think it was a deliberate change at some point to make characters in general not light troops out of units. And though brought up several times, a hard case to make to make SE characters especially so when the project was attempting to lessen our avoidance in general, there were a limited number of changes we could make while every army was being updated at once, and there were bigger fish to fry. I hope it will get addressed when we get our new book, but for now it remains a petty annoyance i…

  • I think it can take a while for meta changes to set in. Sometimes people are a bit set in their ways, need to learn effective new strategies available over time, and sometimes they have new models to paint first The tree list is stable, competitive (scores well) and relatively easy to play, as people have said - so I think it will stick around. But I think there are great other ways to play competitively now too - hopefully we will see them emerge more over the next year.

  • If only there were big tree like models with giant bows available...

  • I dunno I can split threads. I can just lock or delete them (in the SE forums only). Here is an ok place to discuss current SE matchups though, and I don't mind it being specific. Players could learn something from that. You could just quote whatever you want to respond to here, or start a new thread quoting what you'd like to talk about.

  • Well, they're both imaginary

  • To be honest, this thread has kinda run it's course being on topic even - since it was started in an old version about perceived problems / unpopularity with SE in that version, but we have a shiney new improved balance SE update which you can discuss relevantly here: the-ninth-age.com/community/in…se-slim-army-book-2nd-ed/
