It's less about the bow shots, and more about the oppertunity cost. Skirmish is an actively detrimental rule to the kestrals (a spell I shall stick to out of spite), as it means during flank charges against 2 deep infantry units you can only get 2 models in. Skirmish also prohibits Kestrals from blocking LoS, as skirmishers never block LoS, which means that Kestrals can now no longer be used to block LoS from standard sized shooting into units hiding behind them, such as an Eagle King or a Shape…

I don't like ranged kestral knights. Heath Hunters are in core, are cheaper, and can perform the fast cav role better in my opinion. I would never use Kestrals in place of Heath Hunters. Where Kestrals excel is in units of 4 or 5, with shields and a champion, as a ludicrously mobile melee threat. T4 hard target 4+ armour save is about as resilient as we can expect. Working best in rush-down lists alongside other mobile combat threats, especially other threats that vanguard. I've enjoyed Kestrals…

  • What are your thoughts regarding the balance of the book vs a Sylvan Elves army? The ubiquitous Icon of the Inferno is gone! Elf/Avoidance style play can finally work against ID, hurray for al---wait. Whats that shadow looming behind me? *squelch* Icon is gone, the new arcane item makes 3 dice spells more viable, and the loss of their hereditary while retaining much of the flaming/flammable synergy inherently pushes ID away from Pyro towards Alch. This is good for us. However Plate armour *every…

  • Dark Eldar Mandrakes fit perfectly for me.

  • Limbo - Eternal War was a kickstarter for a board game. I backed for 150 AUS almost two years ago, forgot about, and then it turned up a few days ago. 73 models, ranging from huge (the Gluttony, top pictre) to infantry size, all fantastic quality. kickstarter.com/projects/limbominiatures/limbo-eternal-war here is the kickstarter. Searching Facebook for Limbo Eternal War would find their page as well, where I so lovingly stole the pictures above from. The actual board game seems fairly high quali…

  • List roulette is something I've wanted to do with my gaming group for a while, however some of us hold our models to a higher standard than others and are loath to let someone else use them. UB would completely circumvent this problem. I like it.

The Kickstarter arrived a few days ago, and due to lockdown I'll not be able to collect them for the foreseeable future. What's worse, is that my farther is also an avid painter and is trying to get his hands on them! Limbo - Eternal War has been the best kicks…

Quote from Bulls Eye: “It Just feels wrong to have giants for Every race. Yes it creates opportunities for the creative minds among us. But IMO a gracefull race like the elves schould not work together with simpele brutes (like how most of us see Giants). ” Also many pieces of fantasy tropes use Giants as a ''Fallen ancient civilization'', where in many cases individuals have regressed to baser more simplistic life-styles. However some Giants still maintain a facet of the grace and power of thei…

  • This was something I found strange with the Giant lore. All Giants are the same species, simply living amoung other species in their teenage years. Giants on a gap year, for lack of a better term. This is why they have the same stat line and basic rules. Why then does the Giant Dwarf exist? Giants aren’t just large versions of the race they have integrated with, them seem to be there own race that live alongside other societies. With this in mind, having just a “giant” generic daemon isn’t consi…

  • I don't think DL need or deserve a Giant. The Giant See Giant Do represents the giants copying traits of a society. Daemons aren't a society, they simply are. Let the cultists have their Cultist Giant, but it would have to be drastically different mechanics wise to *fit* into a daemon army. 1) It can flee. This devalues sirens. 2) The manifestations, apart from Iron Husk, are badly priced. I've already discussed how Giant club is better than unhinging jaw despite being cheaper, but 40pts for gra…

  • Reposting in he correct place - Not much of a KoE player, but messing around with the KoE Giant since it's looking like one of the better options out of the Giants, I've noticed that the KoE Giant doesn't have the same restrictions on Tower Presence as some of the Other Giants. So you could quite easily run 2 Tooled up Hippo Dukes. 1 Druidism Mage 1 Last charge lance + 2 small Knight units (either 15 Aspirants + 2 x 6 realms, or 11 Realms + 2 x 5 Aspirants 2 x 6 Grail Knights 2 Knighted Giants. …

  • I agree that the Knighted Giant is probably the strongest option of the Giants, with the 5+ aegis against anything that can reliably hurt it, and the 4+ armor and resilients 5 vs everything below that, he is very survivable. Perfectly able to perform clip charges alongside Lance formations, and provide the infantry stomping power that Knights lack. I'd probably suggest 365 is pretty cheap for what he does, when compared to the Green Knight I can't help but think the Giant provides more of what t…

  • There's already been a fair amount of discussion about the Giant here the-ninth-age.com/community/in…04-giants-in-dl/&pageNo=2 But having a separate space to get considered feedback can only help The poignant parts of the conversation thus far have, roughly, been - Role of the Giant vs the Blazing Glory? - Iron Husk Giant being fairly resilient, but lacking real hitting power. - Lack of Giant Club seeming strange, and cost/benefit analysis of Giant club vs Unhinging jaw doesn't come out in favou…

Maybe you're doing "something very very wrong" not being able to catch SE with dwarfs so you whine here with stupid comments h…

  • I'd like to see Forest Synergy sit in a position similar to what flaming/flammable does in the current ID book, useful prevalentand easy to lean into, but never necessary and with ample options to avoid it. We already have a lot of forest synergy: Forest Walker. Light troops = stubborn, especially blade dancers. Thicket Beasts. We use Forests to win our Ranged duels. Tree Singing. HEREDITARY. Sacred Seeds. Mist-walkers mirror. None of our units are directly tied in function to our forest, except…

  • Reminds me of Age of Sigmar, which acknowledging my bias makes me against it I quite like the forest synergy, and honestly think we should introduce more. It’s simple, iconic, and so heavily invested into the theme that it’s easier to remember. For example I’d like to see sacred seeds be changed into a magical heirloom, that also grants channel 1 if the model is within a forest. And an item that’s allows you to cast out hereditary n attribute spells measuring from forests. And I’d like an elite …

Quote from maxgorthor: “Why a model so idiot like this can exist ? With pary and 4++ against mele attack and Rage. ” Up until recently the Scourge has been considered bad, almost unusable, but with the addition of the extra wound and access to Parry it has started to see some *note, not a huge amount* of play in some monster mash lists. I'm incredibly happy to see this model, which a lot of people originally were not happy with, see play now due to small rules and point tweaks. What specifically…

  • I think that is almost exactly the concern here, that if we're getting the blanket statement that ''This design represents the peak of offensive potential for Elf Lords'' and that design appears to be a little weaker than some of the current designs SE already have (5 attacks being available to Blade Dancers, Shifters and Forest Guard, 6 attacks available for the Hunter, combined with better 'soft' stats like agility, defensive skill and AP, which crucially opens titanic might up as a good optio…
