Sorry @The Unmarked, I missed your query earlier. Yes, this icon is for the current book. The TT is not even close to discussing categories yet.

And now for something completely different. Up for discussion today is a new logo for the Tunnel Gunners category. the-ninth-age.com/community/in…75499b9c847b1ffd3d33fdb6c In case you completely forgot what the old logo was, like I did, here is a snip from the current pdf: the-ninth-age.com/community/in…75499b9c847b1ffd3d33fdb6c Does anyone have any particularly strong feelings one way or the other? Lay them out below and I'll shoot them up the pole.

  • Looks like the rats have been active while I slept. Let's see if I can respond to some of these thoughts. 1. You have been heard! Your feedback has been compiled and sent to the RT, who are now discussing it and updating the guidelines where needed. Once this is done, the new guidelines will be released. 2. @Eldan: the team has your document and has found it helpful. 3. While the RT may not dwell in our tunnels, many among the TT do. They say nothing because whatever they say will be analyzed an…

  • It has started it's a long process, but work is underway.

  • Quote from trulyelse: “It's really in the book so we can maintain the notion that we're not squatting anyone's models. ” I wonder if we should put squatting in the lexicon. It certainly isn't a term that a new player would immediately understand. Or maybe we could make our own term? How about... oceanborning? No, that doesn't work. Neither does "scouting-flame-cannon-naptha-thrower-ing". Darn, this creative stuff is hard. Oh, yeah, also: you guys are straying awfully close to mechanics. Feel fre…

  • I've thought of multi-basing before, but only for getting more models, never to make things look better. Well done. Sadly I have no unit fillers I await what others have for inspiration!

  • Ask and you shall receive. Quote from fjugin: “In next version we can change all the references to "Roman" with "Avrasi". ”

  • It's not like we're going to stick the guidelines on the front page of the LAB or anything. These are, at the end of the day, just for the designers. The concept is what matters, so I'm glad to hear that you are a fan of it

  • People wanted to talk about it, so I provided some space

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “@Cam I agree to a certain extend about the reference to Romans. I appreciate the comical effect but there are many who most likely don't. Perhaps if we leave the whole Rome reference out and just name the elements they aim for. But @skipschnit, is there still a chance these guidelines can be amended or is this set in stone already? ” Hi, I'm the community contact on the TT, so please direct questions like this to me. Part of the LAB process is community feedback on the gui…

  • Alright, randomness gets its own thread. Use it. I won't move previous posts but I will move future posts.

  • Please discuss the topic of Randomness here.

  • Post mechanics thoughts here: the-ninth-age.com/community/in…nes-mechanics-discussion/

  • Discuss mechanics based off of the guidelines here. Posts from the other thread will be moved here if they contain mechanics.

  • Yes, I might have to break out the second Rakachit. I still feel bad for that troll unit that charged mine... it did like 7 wounds. I'm a positive person, so I'll just do some positives. VD: Good statline. Amazing discipline. Useful spells with Divination. Tyrant: Can carry the Doomblade. Chief: BSB or Monstrous Rat Shenanigans. Magister: Cheapest way to get any magic. Assassin: Can scare off characters and is fairly durable with R4, 4++. Rakachit: Breath weapon every turn! 3 S5 attacks! Low low…

@dan, noob question How do you deploy your VG and RaA? I have historically had trouble running buses, always managing to get in my own way with the long turn radius. And that's only with units of 40! With unit sizes approaching 60 after characters, how are you deploying them? 5 wide, 12 deep? 7 wide? Throwing the holy rank bonus to the wind, 10 wide?

Well yes, taking a max unit would allow them to lose combat on occasion. But that's a very large footprint and 830 points before the BSB, who is another 330. Even with that you can only lose 6 wounds before your discipline is affected. 6 R5 wounds, but still.

They are pretty nice, imo. Cheap and durable. The big problem is that they cannot lose combat or they will flee and (probably) die. I just took a unit of 6 and was pretty happy with their performance over 5 games. S5/R5 is nothing to scoff at. I've also taken the Thunder Hulks in the past. I'm currently on the fence. Right now I had to rip the models off of the 50x50 bases and put them on 40s, so I'll probably keep them like that for a while. However, when I did take them, I liked the armor and …
