  • I always love playing ID with my Winter Cloak Griffon...

  • No book is fine and shiny on release. There is an ocean of status between fine and shiny, and whatever you seem to think it is. I shall take your advice though, and go back to my previous plan, which was leaving you to your vitriol across every single forum on the website

  • Quote from DanT: “Random thought: One interesting question for this community to explore might be "how would the EoS community describe the differences between EoS and ID, after the new ID book?" I.e. have they got more similar or less similar? What is similar about the armies, and what is different? Just a thought, because I have heard some people say that new ID is quite EoS-like ” I think this is an interesting point that people should consider. In designing the book we got to a number of des…

  • Quote from duxbuse: “Quote: “Do you have any overarching concerns that do not fit within the above questions and are not related to balance, the number of special rules or the wording of said special rules? ” Personal opinion it's no longer possible to play a battle line infantry army. All orc and goblin units have become support units. Dwarves are super expensive and are all about moving and shooting. I think this book has gone in a direction of further disregarding infantry as a predominant fi…

  • Quote from ferny: “Quote from Fthunder: “Then you need two rules instead of one and it takes up more real estate in the book. ” But it's worth it because it makes the rule easier to follow, because the bit which affects non-branded models would actually be in their profile, rather than in a profile to which it adds nothing! Look at the KoE book - having one rule (Infernal Brand) instead of two (dwarf part and non-dwarf part) is equivalent to saying that there shouldn't be seperate rules for The …

  • Quote from darkknight109: “Alright, so initial impressions. This is based on my first couple of games, so it may change after further use. 1: What rules do you enjoy using? It's nice that the Infernal Weapons can now be upgraded like normal weapons. 2: What rules do you not enjoy using? Incendiary. It winds up being a little too much book-keeping in terms of remembering to add/take away some signifier of the status Infernal Brand. I dislike the interplay of Infernal Brand with units that don't h…

  • Quote from skipschnit: “Personally, I think the enchanted banner option should be dropped from Vassals. I’m not complaining that it is there, but I could see reasons for its removal. Puts them more dependent on their dwarf masters. ” Fair shout bud. I think a lot of people still have old fluff in their heads, which is totally understandable. My understanding is that these "Vassals" are similar to Ottoman Vassals such as Wallachia or Crimea. These were allowed to essentially self rule (although t…

  • Quote from DanT: “@Tyranno My apologies for replying to this here, I wasn't sure where else to do it. Happy to move it elsewhere if it is clogging up your feedback thread. Quote from Fthunder: “Quote from DanT: “Question(s) for the LAB team (the answer to which I think is important for feedback collection): (A) Which playstyles** are supposed to be the important/primary playstyles for the book? (I.e. should be roughly equally represented and should comprise the majority of army lists that are se…

(I.e. should be roughly equally represented and should comprise the majority of army lists that are seen) (B) How well do the team feel these are delivered currently? Are any of them a concern/being particularly watched for? Would the team like particular input on the availability and incentivis…

  • I try very hard not to block my own units. But yes the light infantry of both kinds often march 12 inches to take an objective or chaff up a unit in an emergency.

  • Quote from Scumboogie: “I like the last one a lot, thinking of trying it out. I wonder if the lack of chaff will be a problem tho. ” It does take a lot of play to become comfortable with the lack of dedicated chaff, but it also means you have very limited "easy" points for the opponent to get. Anything in the Empire army can be chaff if you try hard enough

  • Quote from Jal: “As ever the Ninjas put on a great event! I have one piece of constructive criticism - on the top tables some of the terrain layouts were awful. Table 3 had 5 pieces of impassable. My suggestion: On the Friday, have a couple of those there early pull up some of the official maps and roughly lay them out instead of what was there. They don't need to be exact, but would be heaps better than the terrain on 1 and 3. Note - this did not detract from the event. If anyone has not been t…
