  • Quote from WhammeWhamme: “I feel it's worth noting that double train was contentious. And all four types are potentially "oh god how do I deal with this?" threats vs. the right list. Plus personally, I think it's flavourful that they're all different, all some engineer's personal design. ” Dang. Really? A race that is touted for industrialization and mass production I feel the exact opposite. It's just weird to have all these binary caps on top of each other that make all this feel quite limitin…

  • Quote from Odoamar: “Two flamers or crushers are also problem. This is similar problem to Two Doomwheels. agaist some armies they can easy win game.Other limits are also important, could you imagine 3Gunnery Flamers + 1Infernal Engine Flamer? How crazy is that against SE or BH. ” But two Dreadmills wouldn't be a problem if the other one could change its weapon to something else?

  • Quote from Odoamar: “Infernal Engine weapons 0-1 of each type. What's the reason behind this?only balance reasons , imagine two mobile rockets. This kind of unit is powerful against specific targets, then against some armies/lists one is painful, but two? ” Wouldn't that be more of a Rocket Battery problem? Why Crusher or Flamer Engine has to suffer from another weapon type deemed too powerful?

  • Can I deploy a War Platform first and a unit around it afterwards?

Quote from WhammeWhamme: “On a topic related to the Monsters issue: How do people feel about the new ID trains? They don't pivot freely (only one pivot/wheel when marching). ” Is something you have to actively think beforehand when moving, can be quite cumbersome to get to a good position, but ultimately suits them. It also feels like a catch-22 to elevate the use of infantry blocks, since they are the ones one-pivot monster could catch most reliably.

  • 1: What rules do you enjoy using? Almost everything minaret! The LoS, the Crush, the elegant way it got us to a deep shooting unit, the style. Even went over a wall during the game! Incendiary mechanic. Contrary to many others, I think the mechanic is much easier to use and especially remember than the regular one-turn flammable. It's a bit wordy (like everything is, to make them waterproof), but when you distill it to its essence it's super simple to use with tokens. All the different new chara…

My outlook on the fly debacle is a negative one, but from a bit different perspective. I used a lot of time to think what I wanted my Kadims to be, a heavy built dwarven volcano golem that could also fly, two things that don't go that well together. And when I finally got the concept and put some effort to actually convert them I'm told that they are not actually flying, and I could've just saw a golem in half and make it wade through a lava stream. They now don't match my views of the monster c…

I made this for myself to look at a while back. I guess I share now that comparing old and new stuff came up. the-ninth-age.com/community/in…a87321deb610ecb775d33bc7c First column is the old Engine, second is Engine with parry, third is flanked Engine, and the fourth is for the dirty cross-comparers such as myself.

Quote from Pellegrim: “? But then again, this army doesnt really rely on warmachines also. Enough monsters, magic and power otherwise to compensatie, no? ” Sorry, I should've been more specific. My reply was directed towards the "what was gained & lost with the new book".

We also took a hit to the amount we get war machines. Before we could get 3 big and then some (or however thinn you could spread your 20% Barrage limit). Now 3 big ones is a hard cap.

I find the Incendiary easier than regular one turn flammable. You keep stacking permanent tokens when oil flasking, and removing when using re-rolls. No more that nagging feeling of "was this flammable done this turn or the last, can't remember any more".

Quote from Kasocles: “I'm only worried about the artillery rules. You have a standard weapon entry at the start of the book, which is only used by a unit at the end of the book. The GT and IA in the middle have rules that downgrade the entries or add 6" to 12" to that rule in the beginning. On top of that they are either quick to fire or accurate. O and they have three types of ammunition of which flaming is probably the easiest to remember ” Flip to the last page summary.

Does the Infernal Brand mean that the dwarfs brand their slaves, or that they are themselves branded by their gods? Are Disciples of Lugar corrupted and driven mad by their god, like poor ol' Kibotesh, or are they supposed to be more of an incarnation of their assertive deity?

Wait, does the Infernal Brand mean they brand their slaves and vassals? I took it meaning they are themselves branded with the mark of their gods.

Quote from Adam: “Quote from Jarec: “Buff wagons are there to make your other units the stars players ” Debatable, the same way you can give order to light infantry to shoot better (instead of giving it to imperial guard for example). It doesn't man that light infantry is a star - marshal is for giving the order. ” Seems to be that way, yes. Cause I still think the Light Infantry would be the star players in this situation, because they are the things that are doing the fighting, and are given t…

And I think this is because giving the dwarves and Tauruks a rule they're never going to use... It's so weird. This rule would be better if it was made from the non-dwarf side. For example: ... ” It is similar to KoE knights granting LD to peasants, EoS characters giving orders that they do not benefit from, corpse cart giving regen that it doesn't benefit f…

I've yet to play any games with this new book, nor have I done any theory-hammering. Here's my thoughts about the book, and mostly of its flavor. Top 5 best things in order: The Bastion, what a wonderful thing. So much modeling potential, and a neat way to get that deep shooting unit in the game that ID is seemingly required to have. It also took the old Giant's Crush attack, which I loved and think were the only one in the world using. Pride of Zalaman Tekash. Forevermore to be known as the Pri…

Blade Dancers. They are such a different unit when comparing to other Sylvan elves, and are historically painted very flamboyant too. They pop out of the mass of bows, riders and earthy leather armors. Dryad Ancient. Every other Sylvan Spirit is either too big for its own good or crazy whirlwind of slashy bits, she stands out more of a leader to the Spirits, especially when there's a cavalcade of awesome minis to make her pop out of the unit she's joined.

  • Quote from trulyelse: “Imagine this: You are a rat working for House Rakachit. You're given a darkstone jezail and told that the dial goes to 11, but anything above a 6 runs the risk of exploding. You're then sent out to fight to deal with an Orc incursion. You value your life. It's about the only thing you have that's genuinely yours. You don't want to lose it. You have that jezail on a comfortable 5 while you pick off the goblins. Then you see the warlord. Gave it a glance and really love it! Especially the way how blunt and stupid the magical items are, and how it feels like it's trying to forcefully assert the dominance and bully the enemy to be extra small for them. Got a shiny cool flag to rally around? Well, we got even bigger flag to cover yours! You think you're too big to be stomped? Not anymore! 'Eff your stupid crown of discipline, we wear that those tiny things on our fingers!
