Quote from Peacemaker: “I noticed on first read through that lugars basically made Kadim Incarnets obsolete. And the points on the incarnets? ...the team really weighs that light troops and magma charge quite heavily. ....and then I noticed Advance 6" ....does 2+ movement and re-roll charge vs Ludgars make kadims worth it? No. Even if you think it does, all you gotta do is scroll down a bit more to Enforcers and Annointed. They have advance 7, and can take a speed banner and have swifstride. The…

All of the modifications are permanent, just to be clear. No part of the special rule expires.

So Adv 4/Mar 12 on Lugars was put in during the 2.0 rework. It was to make them more like Kadims and less like Seekers. That design trend extended onwards; now the two units (Lugars and Seekers) have almost nothing in common beyond armaments.

Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “I never saw any signs the S5, AP0 or 12" range of slim BBs was in any way important to how they were fielded, when, or why. They were taken people who wanted a block unit instead of a dart, or occasionally by people who were saving points on their darts. Not by people who were like "I've designed the rest of my list and I've got enough AP and range, let's take something with no AP and a 12" range!". ” Well the S5, AP0 blunderbuss had other overar…

Quote from Eisenheinrich: “Quote from ZardukZarakhil: “Maybe consider the wording on Fury of Nezibkesh. The use of Dangerous Terrain can cause misunderstandings on an intuitive level Dangerous Terrain itself implies (and states in the BRB) that Terrain is involved in the process, yet the spell does not involve terrain - hence Strider not being effective. This may be viewed as non intuitive and lead to the misunderstandings, especially for those less experienced or learning the game. As this is a…

Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from Villon: “same as one of a kind? We have precedents of capping with no percentage. And doesn't seems a problem. ” well one of a kind is more for fluffy magic items. And for others it's phrased at 0-1 choice that gets doubled at higher points levels. The precedents of capping was for SE longbows which was a quick fix due to their shooting avoidance. Not having percentages sure creates issues the more people deviate from 4500pts. But the project has stated that th…

Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Intent: Darts = Blunderbuss. Mixed Combat/Shooting Blocks (unit with some punch) = Citadel Guard (w/Pistols or Flintlocks) Tower (defensive anvil) = Blunderbuss. Why the same range and similar output? Because they already have different intended tactical doctrines and I don't see how (for example) your split better specializes them into their intended niches. ” Well, in order to have different tactical doctrines they have to have rules and equipm…

Quote from Shino: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “If DH get March and Shoot I will be so ticked. It wasn't invented to be the "dwarven" special rule, it was invented to extend the threat range of those stupid "short ranged weapons" the guidelines insisted we were stuck with. ” Wait. Was it fluff driven, or going around weakness driven then? I believe you stated the formed few days ago ” There are levels of design where background shrugs and says "have fun guys, this is your job". With shooting in par…

Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from saint_barbara: “If it were up to me, I'd try simpler approach: BB: area 2x1 or 2 shots, S3, AP0, 12", QTF FL: S4, AP2, 18", counts as Halberd in CC Replace gauntlets with engineer item/nerf triple speed. I really don't like things like rr 1s in short range (adds time and boring dice rolling) plus the damage output is too similar between the two. Also, with the Spear access, FL seems a bit overkill for CG. Obviously the price would spike, but that will be balanc…

  • Quote from Firthunands91: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “You can give the Breath of Corruption Breath Weapon to mounts. This is sometimes a clutch play - for example, when the rider has a Great Weapon and you want to breathe on people before Agility 0. Or when the rider already has a breath weapon (e.g. Dragon Staff). ” Just so people don't get confused, it doesn't work like that. From Rulesbook, pg.107 Two-Handed . Attacks made with a Great Weapon gain +2 Strength, +2 Armour Penetration, and strike…

  • Quote from Traumdieb: “Quote from WarX: “Breath of Corruption can give Breath Attack to Kadim Beast. It is Focused spell, so it can target any chosen model part. ” I think you are wrong here. You can give it to the chariot (model) or prophet. Not the mount. ” You can give the Breath of Corruption Breath Weapon to mounts. This is sometimes a clutch play - for example, when the rider has a Great Weapon and you want to breathe on people before Agility 0. Or when the rider already has a breath weapo…

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “when? ” When it's done. Our Art, Lectoring and Layout teams are working hard on it, and once they're done, we'll release it. (The only way to say "we release on Day X" and reliably hit that deadline is to be ready before Day X.)

Not saying it won't happen, just putting the issues on the table in case anyone has a clever solution.

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “Whamme is there a map in the ID legendary? ” There'd better be, that map of the Blasted Plains was a lot of work for a lot of people.

  • Quote from DanT: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Hey Dan. Remember how the 2.0 Rocket Battery spoiler nearly burned down the forum? Remember how people were assuming it'd be like 175 points and super broken? Remember how it then released at 300 points? Yeah. It'd be nice to think people would give better feedback on rules without points, but what actually happened was wild mass guessing (on a unit that hadn't been pointed yet!) about price and how OP that meant it would be. ” Not sure what your point…

Quote from Shako: “Quote from squalie_SK: “Now that I’m thinking of it - why get rid of giant whip option? What could it hurt to include? I thought it was flavourful - and it worked. ” No reason in the sense of "it has to be gone because xy". But Giants are limited to 3 options as are all giants (I mean, you can always make an argument for yet an other option.. heck one can easily think of 2-3 more for each giant, but complexity needs to be cut down somewhere). One of these options will be the G…

  • Quote from DanT: “Quote from Zwei: “Quote from DanT: “I really don't get the hate for vassal cavalry design. They are a multi-role unit, not pure chaff. Every suggestion to make them less elite is completely missing the point, because the whole point is that they are inefficient chaff. If they need to cost 250pts, they will, no problem. If 170pts ends up working ok, no problem. ” I do understand the design idea and im basicly with you on that. But for what they bring to the table, they are just …

  • Quote from berti: “The vassal cavalry already outshines most other light cavalry units in powerlevel, even the more expensive ones. (but these come from core in the elfen books). So how could this not already be elite enough without adding the ability to give oponents flamable with a unit that you buy mostly for the chaff purpose. ” If they outshine in power level (cost-effectiveness) then their price will go up and the LAB team will be glad, because that means we did what we were told to and ma…

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “No, they didn't. The rules were just developed faster than the illustrations, background and layout. What is there is the beta version of the rules, after months of designing, discussing and playtesting. ” Note that it shouldn't be the background that lets the Scroll win the race.
