Quote from Ciara: “Quote from Tsagadai: “I lost a unit of great weapon lugars to a solo battleshrine. I have been 0-20ed in every game so far with the new book (six games so far). I don't think a 500 point handicap is required as it definitely isn't an auto win OP army. ” Alright, i dunno if you are serious but if you are, it seems like player issue more than anything else. You have to really try to get 0-20 every game so far. ” Let's go with your logic that I am a terrible player (I'm not). The…

  • 6 games, 6 losses. Most have been 0-20. I have been experimenting a lot with list design and I have also been coming up against lists that are tailored towards stopping ID (flaming wards, etc). I'm not a terrible player (usually finishing middle to upper end of the pack in tournaments) but some of the games have come down to mistakes and dice. There is very little chance of recovery once it starts to fall apart because without "synergies" some units are just expensive and poor value so the army …

Please also take note that there is more than one group of players in 9th. It isn't just WAAC bros who will push any broken combo in any army until they get nerfed (and are generally unpleasant people to play with at the best of times). Last time people cried for nerfs my blunderbusses and rocket battery spent a long time in the display cabinet because they were not worth taking at all (and only became viable again recently). We should aim to have every unit worth taking and nothing that is auto…

Most lists I have seen have had Dragonfire Gem and Basalt Infusion so their characters are safe too, maybe the problem is that your opponents haven't adapted to the new meta.

Peacemaker, your feedback has been pretty solid and backed up by reports it was more a response to others who have beenore vocal and handwavey. The key is in getting lots of dat, I'm going to make more effort to write up some of my own games (especially because I am playing a list where I am trying to get unfair advantages in a team set up). The army is meant to be 'elite' but not overpowered. Power is often a factor of broken combinations and points. Ideally, 9th should aim to have armies balan…

So much of this feedback boils down to 'make everything boring and simple'. Nothing special. The Lamassu rule is interesting and fun (but impractical in UB without a camera). People hate it because they seem to want beer and pretzels gaming, put your brain to sleep and roll some dice. It adds something new to the game, new things are good. If this book is so broken, prove it. Take a singles tournament podium and give us some data. Until then, it is just words and a waste of them at that.

I really like vassal cavalry. I liked them in the previous version and often took bows and shields but now having to takae everything just gives them more utility. Two ap1 attacks on the mount is also a nice buff and fits tradition of 'greenskin' mounts being better than the rider. I have even taken a chieftain on them which makes them very solid (hello 3 str5 on charge). Also they get battle focus most of the time when they make a supporting charge. Please keep them as is.

  • Also, the gunnery team flame thrower makes me cry. It used to be good (probably undercoated) but now it is a joke. Str3 flames for 9-18" is just flat bad. Most things laugh at it. Str4 D3 multi wounds at close range is passable but still not very good. Who waters down their flame thrower before battle. I am salty because I have two fantastic flame thrower gunnery teams that will be firmly shelved until either a significant points drop or a removal of the str drop. It is probably worth removing t…

  • Quote from CaptainChaos: “i think that points are very wrong in this case. I do really like the design and concept of this weapon, but it's too powerful. You can easily add 100pts imho. And almost the same increase for gunnery teams, who have less strength ” LOL, increase it by 100 points and it will be on the sheft until the next LAB. It could lose clipped wings and probably go up 10 for the artillery. The gunnery team one is trash currently (worse than same points in CG). It is short range and…

So then it does apply to The Stars Align and I have been playing it right all along. So what Kadim Manifestation is is a more complex and expensive version The Stars Align. It is still a solid rule that has its place in the army though, it just isn't as rare or OP as it is being made out to be.

Quote from Villon: “Stars align only works on close combat 21.G.b.6 Divine Attacks – Close CombatSuccessful Aegis Saves taken against the attack must be rerolled. ” Halp, ruies overlords. So does that mean Divine attacks is only for Close Combat because it only specifies it in the rulebook as Close Combat? If it is CC only the artillery doesn't get it at all. Wouldn't that negate Unerring Strike? Read the divination spell, Stars Align only says "Attacks". This is more a conflict between the rule…

Quote from teclis2000: “Quote from Tsagadai: “As for divine being super rare, The Stars Align is a spell that many armies have access to and it works on artillery (it just says attacks). ” Unfortunately, only the close combat attacks become divine with that spell. ” I could be wrong but when something says "Attacks" that includes shooting.

Divine attacks are not guaranteed every time with Kadim Manifestation. You need something else to make it flammable: Glory of Gold, flaming swords, new giant with hammer. So otherwise it is just flaming which many things get a special ward save against. The wording of the rule is to have some way to stop flaming attacks being laughably useless when you face an army with lots of flaming wards (like ID, Ryma, etc). As for divine being super rare, The Stars Align is a spell that many armies have ac…

Quote from jimbo81: “Quote from lawgnome: “I am confused. I presume you are being facetious and sarcastic with the 'give flaming attacks to everyone else' comment, but who can really tell on the internet? The actual wording on the rule could probably be simplified in some way, or made clearer by being presented in a different fashion. It will probably happen, but who knows. That said, what is wrong with the mechanics that it warrants your umbridge? Are tokens so hard? Is having the ability to fo…

Tactically and thematically vassal cav work really well. When you make an assisting charge the they get battle focus (usually). So when they go in with a marked unit they work harder. 1 st4 and 2 st3 attacks with battle focus is good.

Quote from IntrigueAtCourt: “Ok lets talk with sensitivity and without hyperbole. In recent posts we've seen ID core shooting being referred to as "light shooting" and "short range shooting". To me and probably to most people, light shooting is 10 high elf archers - res3 6+ save, 10 shots, 3+ st3 ap0, range 30, 165 points. Or 10 wood elf archers - res3 no save, 10 shots 3+, st3(4) ap1, q2f, range 30(+5), 255 points. In my original post I hadn't even realized infernal warriors and citadel guard c…

Quote from IntrigueAtCourt: “Quote from Tsagadai: “Anything can be used as a charge redirector but that is different to taking a unit entirely for the purpose of being a charge redirector. Spending 170 points on a unit to throw it under the bus every game is very silly. ” Like HBE do with 180 point reavers that are called "amazing because they are core"? ” Reavers are amazing core. Most HBE players I have played against don't use them as speedbumps thought because they are more than capable of e…

For an example of new changed unit that is very good, Citadel Guard. We are probably heading back to a time a couple of releases ago where CG deathstars were popular but you need to remember that they have the same flaw now that they had then. Their shooting isn't amazing, especially if they moved (and even worse if they marched). They are expensive on a per model basis and a unit of 30 is at least 615 points (and more likely over 800 points plus characters for a death star). They are good but n…
