I think core should be better only in the respect that they are an unlimited unit type. They certainly shouldn't be worse than other unit types.

Quote from Ozzy666: “I think the issue is that while a lot of people like the idea of R&F, not that many enjoy actually employing it in the game It's a hassle really, you need to have all these models assembled and painted. It's way more fun to work on a few unique characters and monsters rather than dozens of identical footsoldiers Then you have to take them with you to wherever you're playing. It's takes less transport space if you take single models rather than huge numbers of them Before…

Quote from LeVil1: “Warning All this is close related with my experience as an historical player. I agree with this but for me the augmentation should be more important. "Core" troops should be the backbone of all the armies. Those that can be gathered from everywhere in your kingdom. So I think that the heresy consisting in saying that 25% core troops are enough and that you can take 75% of "characters" & "special" troops is a total non-sense. (Thanks to the legacy here). ” Except if bring reali…

  • I Quote from Alexbbr: “Quote from MrPieChee: “Aren't ASoIaF miniatures a different scale? 32mm instead of 28? I think at that scale they might fit WotDG better than EoS, if at all. ” no, AsoIaF fit well with gw miniatures, at least for EoS. Don't forget gw is not 28mm but 28mm heroic (so kind of 32mm). ” @MrPieChee Regarding "heroic scale," the way it was explained to me that this scale is the regular scale (28mm) except the models exaggerate wrist width and weapon diameter for the purpose of ma…

Quote from Shukran: “what would u like the AVERAGE infantry block (take in account the AVERAGE stats, to be AVERAGE) to achieve in a match? then rest should fix accordingly. ” Do it the other way. Use the AVERAGE Dragon Mount profile (they're basically all the same). Dragons might not be common, but it's easy to picture how powerful a dragon should be, then decided how much of a threat they should represent to a block of infantry. EXAMPLE: index.php Then design Infantry based on how much they sh…

Dunno if it would work for T9A, but Warmahordes (another game) has an interesting mechanic where the infantry units can preform a "combined melee attack". They roll 1 hit and if it hits, they modify the attack's offensive power by the number of attacks that didn't happen because they combined. So like with 5 models you'd roll 1 attack, and if it hit, it would be at +4 strength. If it misses, they all miss together. That said, warmahordes has a combined Res and Arm stat mechanic, so it wouldn't p…

Quote from Il Maestro: “I think there are 2 separate issues that we are discussing here: - Are S3 (or core value) troops able to fulfil an appropriate combat role in the current state of the game - Are single models overpowered for what they are meant to represent ” 1st question is right on, but I think the second one is the other way around: "Are R&F blocks underpowered for what they are meant to represent?" They are functionally similar, but the distinction is that the monsters being monst…

Quote from theunwantedbeing: “It needs a core rules change, but that won't happen in at least half a decade. But it would be nice to have a minor change, putting all single model units on round bases specifically since they may as well be given how they function in most circumstances. Perhaps with a bit of a loosening up of the rules for advance moves for R&F units by letting them move sideways or backwards at their full rate, keeping march moves as forwards only. ” I hate the round bases in…

Quote from Wesser: “Is it just me or is the game very much dominated by single models these days? I like to take good honest Str3 infantry and archers, but except when playing elves I'm sort of at a loss for something they can hurt, so they tend to end up bunkering/scoring/hiding Are single models just too maneuverable/cheap/deadly for their price these days? Or do i simply need to stuff my army full of singlemodel counters and hope meta shifts? Or does LAB teams just need to focus on making inf…

  • Quote from subspace: “Quote from albertoalter: “If a unit with strider flee through an Impassable terrain, does it have to take DT test? ” No, they don't take DT tests thanks to Strider. (Also the guy above me is wrong.) ” Strider auto-passes such tests, but yes there is a test there. Not sure when it would matter, the distinction that you do test for Dangerous Terrain and auto pass Versus ignoring the tests, but the distinction is there.

  • Totally joking here: Look, two hope harvesters (with engine of destruction) the-ninth-age.com/community/in…9a2776d25e9f4f172ee91c9dcthe-ninth-age.com/community/in…9a2776d25e9f4f172ee91c9dc Really amusing to me when I realized that this guy would fit on two 150x100 mm bases. Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Reminder: I *like* your sci-fi armies ” linking you here....

  • Quote from Happy Aspid: “OMG, how I managed to miss it? ” It's kinda hidden, all the other DL units get 1 manifestation, so you don't look for it.

  • the-ninth-age.com/community/in…9a2776d25e9f4f172ee91c9dc store.privateerpress.com/umbral-guardian Comes on a 40mm base, but I've seen it in person and if you ignore the spear hanging off the side, it would easily fit on a 20mm square with room to spare. Model would make a great vampire. Really cool looking.

Picked this gal up at severe discount: JAIMs.jpg store.privateerpress.com/j-a-i-m-s That's a 40mm base. Some tweaking of the pose and basing. I think I'm going to run this as Kuulima's Deciever. Hard to tell from the picture, but the model is abnormally tall, which is good to represent a Res 5 deciever that fits on the same base as our Res 3 core units. A very powerful woman in a powerful pose. I really like it.
