    In my small local meta big blocks are the standard. Monsters usually get shot or magicked off the table or lose due to high S melee and/or static CR. Especially our local DH players has an abundance of options against monsters with gunners, xbows, canons, forge repeaters on characters or choppers, seekers....

    I like the concept but maybe the ambush roll should be 2+ or rerollable somehow. Also DT (2) seems to steep, maybe DT(1) should be enough. It certainly fits the "close the gap" design goal but I do however wonder if there should not just be a regular ambush mode for this guy or better wording to "disembark" the unit. I would probably also use another model than a beast of some kind although I am not quite sure what. I think the overall design is cool but the rules, wording and stats might need a…

  • I was thinking about an option to have a monster join regular troops as war platfoem but looking at the WDG spear giant, it hurts the monster alot, slowing it down, harder to hide etc.

    Very nice reports, really enjoyable and educational as well. Love the pre- and post-game analysis and the way you explain possibilities and mistakes

  • Not sure about all the doomsaying. Even if your opponent can somehow counter the portal play, the fact that its there is still in their mind and they have to adjust their game plan. Even then you can probably march up with the chosen as even a 6 model unit with halberd hurts a lot of targets.

  • In my opinion the base troops would be all troops in core (except for scouts I guess) but maybe also NG. It really depends on the further design I guess and the possibilities. Not sure how to keep the complexity down but redundant rules like UW has now might balance the synergy for each unit. A concept that could lure people out of the "minimum core requirements" way of thinking would be very interresting.

    the guidelines might not apply to every entry in the book though.

  • currently use 4x6 lust chosen with mu and halberd but thats in a list with hellmaw. still, having 4 units to threaten en zone with the posibility to flee is quite nice and may work without hellmaw.

  • I would like to see a monster-base troop synergy without going over the top. Our base troops cant be supported by a monster right now because of crumble. the number of monsters would then be linked to the number of base troops.

    Do not know exactly which models are more resilient against the flaming barrage of the new ID book, but armies with those models are picked often as a possible stop to ID?
