  • Do you really want to live in a world where a) Command options all have a different price depending on the unit that has them b) Command options are so expensive, you skip a musician half the time for units ?

  • Quote from Bogi: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Ah, but would the unit cost more to have the option to take a Musician? Because I'd argue that if you take away the option to take a Musician, that's a nerf to a unit (unless it's Light Troops or similar of course). ” I feel units that are identical apart from the option to take musicians should be the same price, as they are exactly the same on the field. ” Your opinion is noted, but irrelevant; the methodology practiced (musician is always 20, no exc…

  • Quote from TheChange: “Quote from skipschnit: “It’s also possible that the public didn’t trust the play testing team. @Villon told everybody that the book was ok. We could use the old saying that people actually judged this book by its cover. LOL. Or, that this dog had a lot of bark, but no teeth. I’m curious to see the update. Hope things didn’t go too far the other way. ” Honestly after all the complains that have occurred after the ID Beta release I'm quite worried about a huge nerf hammer th…

  • Well, it's conceivable people overreacted, it's conceivable the ID scores got dragged down by people metagaming against it or bandwagoning on to it - difficult to say off limited data. We'll see.

  • Quote from strauss: “And this “ 22 units/items/options have seen a point increase of x% and 32 units/items/options have seen a point decrease of x% » statement may be invalidated after the official release ? Or is it expected to remain valid ? ” Assuming it was correct (and it was approximately correct) it will remain correct, as we are currently just doing due diligence on making sure we didn't screw up transcriptions. Quote from TheChange: “Quote from strauss: “And this “ 22 units/items/option…

  • OK I know we were looking at a release in the next few days but I thought we were still checking for errors (typos, etc.)...

  • !?! There's not a public version 2. Not yet, anyway.

  • Quote from Gingersmali: “Sigh, can this thread not devolve into the race discussion again? I fully support making the book as inclusive as possible, but I don’t see why this needs to affect the rules, which are as I see it in a pretty good place. ” The background matches the slim rules pretty well and is unlikely to force much in the way of mechanical changes. Changing to something involving a second culture of Orcs from a different area - that could force mechanical changes. If you're only worr…

  • Quote from Ringil: “A couple of ideas I had that I'll post seperately to be torn apart seperately The first one SLAVE SHIELD- At the start of the battle pick 3(Number is of course variable, something like fleet master could increase the number representing his regular raids getting more slaves) infantry units in your list, each unit gains 1 'slave' token. If an enemy units wants to shoot a unit with a slave token it must first pass a discipline test. If it fails it's leadership test it may not s…

  • "by 1, to a minimum of 1" is totally a thing we use all the time in the rules.

  • Getting into ADT is tricky, but it's worth noting that ACS get access and to say stuff, so it might be worth applying to be O&G ACS if you specifically care about the O&G LAB. But yeah, getting involved in specific books is not easy even if you're already on a relevant team, as someone else may want the role and the bigger the team, the slower it comes to a consensus, so the sizes of the working teams are capped.

  • Quote from kompatybilijny: “I could make similiar argument for HBE, that although our core units hit "reliably", they can not wound for sht. And before you start moaning about special units, yes, Lion Guards can wound most things relaibly, but they lose lighting reflexes for this and also ID has some good combat units in special section as well ” I don't moan; I was just pointing out that there's things we avoided having be an option. There's things ID don't get, and things they do. Hitting but …

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Avoiding having racist caricatures in our game. GW's regular Orcs are great, one of the most fun and least offensive Orcs the world has even known... but their Savage Orcs? Not so much. They're stereotypical African tribesmen with green skin. Not a good look, not something I want to be part of T9A. ” Your response is quite the personal opinion. When I look at the Savage Orc models I see stone age technology peoples. My mind doesn't jump to africa…

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Quote from Mercenary Armies: “Until the warlord lose his virginal aura.. then he has to craft an armor.... I'm looking forward to read this new marvellous politically correct bg.. ” "Virginal aura" was a phrasing suggested by a random forumite. I would say it is not a wording the BGT would choose, precisely because of how easily mocked it is. As for "new marvellous politically correct bg" - that was my personal opinion, clearly marked as su…

  • Quote from Gingersmali: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “The background was specifically created to (among other things) justify entire armies of Feral Orcs, precisely because they're extremely popular. Nobody would blink an eye if you decided your KoE Paladin BSB was a "Joan of Arc" type who had never picked up a sword in her life. I really don't see why people are having trouble with the idea that the Warlord was always the leader of their brood, and may have started their career leading a few hundr…

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “Please keep going. Its Ok changing bg. Not ok say that it was for not being racist. Feral Orcs can be more than moking stuff. Pride and ferocious warriors. these is how I remember them. Where is the racism? • Quote from Gingersmali: “Hey, so a discussion came up in another thread and I wanted to know what people though are on this: Apparently the fluff for feral orcs is going to be changed so they are just young orcs who are unruly and haven’t worked out metal yet. Here are my thoughts, My gut reaction was I didn’t like it. However I think in the context of some orcs have worse armour, frenzy, worse DS and fearless it works. However this is where I think it stops working. Why would older orcs loose b…
