  • Quote from Morrigan: “Quote from Pellegrim: “To sustain to community in a creative way, it would have to be more then a canvas. ” 100% agree. I want lore, I want historical landmarks, names of famous and infamous people and events and dates or at least years, and I'm sure I am not the only oneBut this is off-topic and I did discuss this at length on the giant topic. Got no opinion on the orc change, sorry for the Off topic tangent. ” With some of the activities of the BGT coming to a close in th…

  • Quote from Arturiki: “but I don't know how to justify a feral chariot ” There is no such thing as a feral chariot in the existing T9A rules set

Quote from kisanis: “LotR becoming the 3rd game system really killed the specialist range in general ” I could have forgiven that had the scale been the same as WHFB. I still think 2nd Age Last Alliance LotR elves are the visually most appealing elves out there. It is such a pity they are so "small".

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “So how does BG plan to facilitate the building of unique and themed armies? ” By providing a canvas each individual can then fill on their own.

Quote from kisanis: “Yea, it all went downhill when you could field an army of knights, and bane blades became common. the scale of the game got too big for the miniature scale. ” I distinctly remember the moment when things went downhill. The release of Apocalypse in October 2007. I was at Nottingham for the 1st round of UK GT in WHFB. Soon after that GW internally playtested and then released as a feeler through WD Fantasy version of Apocalypse but it failed to catch the imagination of people …

  • Quote from arwaker: “@Giladis. If there are different ratios of paths for the different Orc age groups? How does that happen if they do normally not change path during life? Do the shamanism shamans die more often before maturing, changing the ratio for the two older groups? Is being a shaman something you are born with? Or does it also happen that some Orcs become shamans at mid or old age, after having spent the earlier days as "normal" guy? ” Magic in T9A is a learned thing. Anyone can do it …

  • Quote from arwaker: “Does their access to paths change with age? ” Paths of magic are different philosophies of spell casting. Generally they are culturally anchored. What you are thought will stay with you for life so while individuals can switch paths during life or learn more than one is possible it is very rare. So while it is possible it is unlikely. I would say there is more concept space in affinity to particular paths depending on age and personality of the spellcaster. What follows is j…

  • Flo don't spam all that can go in a single post. @Gingersmali to get back to OP what are for you the main elements at the conceptual level that you would like to see preserved during the book transition.

  • @Mercenary Armies that is precisely the point GW's Savage Orcs were not any of these cultures but a caricature of those cultures in general through a lens of 19th century racially influenced colonialism. We want to step away from that and give our Warborn a proper culture and society that is neither caricature or satire. This also reminds me of a discisson from the very beginnging of the project when BGT just sarted working and current Feral Orcs had the name Neanderorcs because someone among th…

  • @Gingersmali I can very well understand the sentiment but Warborn since the release of the 1st edition were pretty much destined to be a book with among the most changes to their Slim format for two reasons. First is that legally speaking OnG were in the top 5 books in need of updating to 2nd edition asap. At the moment they are almost certainly the #1 book that needs an update from a legal perspective. The second reason is complexity budget limitation per book. So my advice to you is to (if you…

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “You are a funny guy.... If you already have access to gw pubblications, read it better or you are going to do again like the wdg ans daemons and the "new" bg of the 7th sins that was Slaanesh bg. Orcs ar orcs..for African tribes as ghiznuk ” Thanks I usually am the life of a party. Your objection to artistic direction has been noted. Cheers

  • Quote from Mercenary Armies: “whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Savage_Orc A gift from mama. A little compendium of bg. Nomadic people who discovered metal crafting from dawi. Orcs!! A Proud and Ancient race forged for fighting. ” Thanks for the link but BGT already has access to all of GW's publications. We studied them closely to ensure the legal safety of what we are doing.

  • This is not my view or the view of the BGT it is the expressed view of GW design studio when they were explaining the inspiration behind their Orcs & Goblins.

  • @Mercenary Armies if you can't see what is the problem with GW's Orcs and especially Savage Orcs from a point sociology and ethnology there is only so much we can do to explain. When the overall concept is bringing football hooligans into a fantasy setting and the other thing is racial caricature from 19th century I have hard time seeing anyone supporting continuing that in this day and age. @Gingersmali the situation is way more complex and nuanced than a few lines of text allowed us to explain…

Quote from Ilderoth: “Quote from Giladis: “Quote from DarkSky: “but can you maybe elaborate what the thinking behind giving him 150 pts of magical allowance is? ” The main reason was inbuilt Aegis Save. ” What do you gain by this? The model does not have a 200 pt magical allowance, but those 50 pts it has less will probably be added to the base cost of the model. So, effectively it is a more restrictive built than the dread prince, for whom I get to decide whether or not to buy an aegis save. Wh…

  • @CariadocThorne having gone through the design process I would say @DarkSky is not interpreting the guidelines too strictly.

Manslayer is the name of concept drawn from Hector's epithet. Without spoiling anything I do not believe manslayer we sent to playtesting will be used as a cowboy since there are better options for a cowboy in the book.

I am mostly looking to expand my Primaris collection and have something to play narrative games. I still feel 4th ed was the most enjoyable for me both from the rules point of view as well as overall game and setting aesthetic before the it went from a decently sized skirmish into full on battles with minis that should have had its place in Epic.

Quote from Luntan: “What role do the new character ”Manslayer” have? ” They are intended as "lawnmowers". Embodiment of ancient heroes like Ajax, Achilles or Hector in DE garb and suitable personality traits.
