  • Yes, I totally agree! Always remove your supports before curing. The hot water bath is a good strategy, but be gentle as your cured model also might bend a bit. Not recommended for multi part prints. Or at least, only recommended to a certain degree. IPA is a classic solvent for cleaning, but if you can find that more easily, use ethanol. In Germany I can get 5 L ethanol at a craft store or building material suppliers for roundabout 10 €. The solvent properties of both are basically identical, b…

  • Awesome! I live in a flat but have the luxury of permitting myself a (though pretty small) room dedicated to crafting and my hobby stuff. I am using an Anycubic Photon, which is not available anymore. I heard that the Photon S has a lot of quality issues, but it has some quality of life improvements that I had to install afterwards myself. Aka mod my printer. For example the dual Z rod - that's a nice thing! Another sneaky tip: Printing takes a long time, but with SLA printing it does not matter…

  • Hey Phoenix, well, first things first. It is quite the book you are opening. I own a 3D Printer for way over a year now and have been printing a lot for RPGs and Ninth Age, and I learn something new every print. First, there are two major types of 3D printers out there for hobbyists. SLA and FDM printers, or as they are also known: Resin and Filament Printers. Both do the same but also they don't. If you are looking into printing miniatures, SLA printers are your go to. As I also work primarily …

Quote from Squee: “That's a weird comment - because AFAIK there was no expectation of the overall function of the Altar to change. We talked about base shapes. Did anyone complain about spell selection? ” I think I recall asking for spell selection on the Altar. But I did not want to remove WoG. What I thought of was giving the possibility to select, if needed, maybe one defensive option. I will miss WoG, as I do not plan on playing a Thaumaturgy Master.

Quote from Squee: “I have to be honest - I personally do like the archetypes! They let players run their models as cultists (...to some degree; equipment is a bit of an issue). ” Yes, yes, I do see that, but you would not have to bake in a rule that creates a loooooot of complexity (it modifies almost every unit's profile) for rather little gain (your core does not really profit from it, let's be real, the Core cultists will always suck, and a + Agility (e.g.) won't change it. And it is okay for…

Quote from Krokz: “You have to ask yourself why would you change something. Would it actually improved how the army plays (not if it wins) without bringing more complexity? ” I would dare to say some things would improve the feel of the army and not add complexity because they would replace things. But apparently taking things away from the book is an option never considered. Fair enough. Quote from Krokz: “Book is going gold in autumn with minimum changes, this has been said half a year ago and…

Quote from Squee: “The Gem fits thematically, but doesn't look good to me. There is maybe some combo with infiltrators there? Not sure. I wouldn't take it. ” Maybe if that thing allowed to cast a spell from a champion anywhere on the field. That combined with a unit of infiltrators would be nice. Quote from MrPieChee: “As far as list options go, Altars casting huge cinematic spells is the pinnacle of thematic cultists! ” I do also agree, in my opinion the altar could cost more points and be more…

Gotta say I also really like the changes, mostly the Inquisitor change, from being a straight up handicap (It felt like the Enemy Within was this rule, not the cultists themselves) to a nice, fluffy and cool rule. Love it. Mostly that the cultist player decides on the Inquisitor. I also love the Altar changes, roundbase fits it better as a sort of magic War Machine, and I love the spell selection. Thank you for listening to us. I really do not mind rebasing my altar at all.

Quote from Ehakir: “Sorry for not being a fan of your thoughts ” No worries man, that is your good right! You expressed good criticism - a rare good in these times on the Internet. Quote from Ehakir: “I think raising daemons is already covered by the summoning rules and healing is not something needed in the army. ” Real raising is not really covered, but ofc I can see the point of saying it would not add anything to the army. I personally liked the idea to be able to sacrifice your (let's face …

I collected some ideas for the Cultists over the past days. These are obviously not perfect, but I would love to discuss them. I see way more work needed for the Cultists than to simply change some details and costs and so on, and there is a lot of complexity that could be reduced cause it does not offer that much. Well enough said, here are some ideas: _______________________________ Armory: Tainted Blades The bearer gains Poison Attacks and +1 AP. Dark Fire Forged Weapon Enchantment: The beare…

  • Has anyone even had the chance to play a game against new ID yet?

  • Nice! Keep the creative juice flowing! Regarding your idea for the Blazing Glory/Omen model: I have had the same model for both for a long time, because both are on a 50x50 base. One thing that a friend of mine pointed out is that the Omen, despite it's big base size, is only of Standard height, whereas the Glory is Large + Tall. Obviously those parameters are only relevant for the actual gameplay, but maybe you want to respect the sizes of the models. Luckily, in T9A, you don't have to be a sla…

Sorry if I misunderstood you so far, but I am not very certain anymore what your point or maybe problem is. No offense, really. Quote from Chronocide: “Does it more than any other T9A unit? A bunch of cultists with altar models already exist. ” Yes, surely! And probably most or even all of them are awesome. But, what do you mean? In my opinion, an altar is definitely something that could a lot more easily be build yourself than infantry. I am talking about building from scratch, if maybe that di…

Absolutely. I personally built my own Sacrificial Altar, for now it sits on a 100x100 base (obviously) but I could rebase that. I really like that model as it encourages building something on your own.

Quote from Chronocide: “Just make sure that whatever base size you go with, it's a size that is commonly sold by existing miniatures companies. I know the 60mm round is easy, not sure on the 100mm one. ” Are you referring to the base or the models being common?

It would indeed bring rebasing, but I feel like it makes more sense for that unit to have a round base. I would also really like some customization on the Altar, maybe spell selection. Sacrificial Offerings needs to stay, that is by far the most flavorful part of the Altar. (Kill dem cultbois'n'guurls!)

Quote from Squee: “I would suggest something like Wandering Familiar to replace the Locket - you need a +range on spells item to make occultism worthwhile. ” Or to replace the Gem of Faith's Tithe with the Wandering Familiar. I personally would loooove to see Veil Walker come back, which for me makes a lot of sense thematically for a wizard who basically only deals with daemons. Plus it works really well with Occultism.

  • I happen to own a 3D printer and printed those guys. Worked really well as I had to make a lot of those little guys and I could print 15 guys in about 5-6 hours. If you are interested, let me know, I can share the 3D files. Edit: Ah, and Squidboi is "D'Khul" from Reapers Miniatures.

  • Lovely to see another one has succumbed to the ominous calling and followed their path beyond the veil into the Maelstorm. Welcome! I started playing DL with a lot of old(er) GW models from a dear friend, whose brother used to own and play the Daemons years ago. Over the course of time I have started to increase my number of own models, especially since I do not like most of the aesthetics of many GW daemons (or models in general). Agreeing with what TTinus said, try to find a theme. It may be h…

I really like that idea, @Chronocide. I would also welcome to see the Inquisitor rule removed (I don't feel it, really) and the Altar reworked. A cool thing would be also a Cultist specific Hereditary Spell.
