  • Thought for war machine- “Run Away” war machines may choose to flee as a charge reaction. If it does it is removed as a casualty and the opponent may redirect with a -1 to leadership roll. This is to represent the machine being there but no crew.

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “Quote from McBaine: “Quote from Folomo: “I.may be opening a can of worms, but the idea seems simple and BG appropriate. Counter-charge: as a charge reaction, this unit may choose to do a counter-charge. The charging unit can reroll failed charges. This unit benefits from his devastating charge rules on this turn. If the charge failed, move the counter-charguing unit 1D6" forward.. ” ” The issue with it is that it removes te enemy's counter play to KoE knights. Take an infa…

  • @Klexe- I think we both feel the Green Knight banner is crud. I’m going to try the combo of speed and GK banner to see how it helps with redeployment in game and then have last charge or oriflame in that unit as well. It’s a gimmick but want to see in game how it works. March 20 knights ... sounds good on paper. I agree also regarding KA. For what they are suppose to be I feel they are currently to strong and should be renamed and then a new KA unit. To me that unit represents zealots who are ba…

  • Here is an idea- all units of knights can take 2 magical banners

  • @Erethriel- check out Green Dragons Gaming. I rarely flee. I actually feel this a difference of style. I would make make it any unit affected by the Blessing. 5++ and counter charge. For the record- I feel that not being able to flee is a disadvantage. It allows your opponents to play a different way.

  • When I think of KoE I always think of the movie Excalibur. That is how I base my army and play. I’ve added a hippo for game but can’t bring myself to use peg knights due to fluff... and cost.

  • @Marcos24 I like the idea but can make KoE too strong. Still I think the idea has merit. If it is only against solo models. It would would also fit into the fluff of the army. bouncing off your idea- hatred or +1 to hit vs swiftstride. Again- may make us too strong.

  • @Ludaman- I did not mean to shoot you down harshly if it seemed that. I again apologize. Feel like I’ve my own foot in my mouth to frequently lately. From a game perspective- I can fully get behind either the idea of trading CR for attacks (but count towards being/breaking steadfast) on the charge or impact hits for complete ranks. let me open another can of worms that I feel the army has issues with and imo shouldn’t- Multiple single models with high damage output and M7.

  • @Marcos24- if you did and I missed it I apologize. The way I read what was being written was lost permanently for more damage. I’m not sure that would lower the cost of the unit if the average is the same- but I can get behind this. I can’t get behind anything that allows us to be hit easier. Make anyone roll more dice- they will roll more 1’s and 2’s. To many of our opponents have 2 attacks or more and therefore- we kill the supporting models, we are still taking more hits and therefore wounds.

  • Quote from Folomo: “The CS bonus from ranks pushes KoE toward a flanking army, the reroll 1s toward a combat army. IMO, the rank bonus may be a equivalent trade with reroll 1s to hit. ” it is not due to parry and we already have a spell that can do that. I stopped using the spell because it was meh compared to other opportunities.

  • And as @echoCTRL stated is how I read what you wrote. Just to confirm- the ranks still count for purpose of steadfast but don’t give CR. I still don’t like it. Example- stuck with a cowboy that is designed not to be wounded and he does only 1-2 wounds a round. KoE loses. Anecdotal- chaos lord vs realm with BSB. Realm took out a unit of feldraks and were countered with a solo character. Only reason I won combat was because I had CR. compromise- they lose CR from ranks ONLY when the unit charges b…

  • Who said anything about frontal charges? I use the maneuverability of KoE Lance to the Max. Reform and wheel, move... sorry but I am a fan of the bus, but to everyone’s point- it is not for a beginner. I have done things with lances that has made my opponents go- WTF! I’m all about using a pincer style strategy, in game redeployment, and basically out playing the movement phase. it’s not just CR. It is being able to be steadfast ourselves. If our damage output was permanent and not charge depend…

  • But you are still using the bus formation. Then you are dictating play style after that. MMU Ka are run 4 wide, grails only have 9 models and lose 1 you are down to 2 ranks. My only unit with ranks to worry about is KotR. Issue as I see it from playing is if I can’t break them turn 1- I need to be steadfast as well. The damage output to kill 20 WoDG with Parry and a character... they only have so much frontage for a multi charge. We would also be extremely suspect to monsters and lone characters…

  • It’s interesting that people here are consider the duke a crutch. To me it is on par with other characters and has different builds. As for the banner- I have it a MMU of KA... not truly necessary. It helps the army but have had it do nothing for several games or not enough for a difference. Army dependent

  • @Ludaman- try playing with the inability to break steadfast for a few game and we will talk. I will say anecdotally that without the ability to break steadfast we, KoE, are up a creek without a paddle. Playtest it- don’t theory hammer. I have... and I did not like the result. That is also why I don’t play MSU KoE.

  • The Castellan is a solid choice. The question is if we, the player, are willing for chaff to come from characters rather than special. Its a matter of style. Neither way is better.

  • Quote from Klexe: “Quote from Erethriel: “Quote from Klexe: “Quote from echoCTRL: “@Klexe that only helps vs elite units, and if those units have WS 5 the benefit is lost. Too situational. ” It just helps global. ” and Parry would, again, be a big old "what do i care ... not just cuz i got a shield, i even got a shield and nothing else" :popcorn:Edit: in the front and without above Jousting ” Imo thats fine. Sword and board is the counter to charge dependent units ” But you need to keep the defe…

  • Quote from Kratos: “i support +1offense -1 deffense across the field. Lets see if they allow plain stats to be offense 5 and defense 3 for our core or we need a special rule for it like: Jousting On first round of combat, the model part gains +1 Offense and -1 Defense. If it is using a Lance it also gains Devastating Charge( Ignore Parry ) ” I don't. Being hit 50% vs 67% of the time is huge- especially since we are striking second and losing attacks. I fail to see why it is so costly to keep the…

  • As someone who has worked on a book the teams that work on them always reference the guidelines and Background (BG). Some things are fluid, but the teams do a good job of staying focused.

  • @Bretboy84- my duke rides a scaled winged wolf that was a reaper mini. It is on a huge rock for hight to represent a hippo- hence Duke Rockwolf for those who know me. Purely a fantasy model- but it doesn’t matter if it is a special horse such as Finnish horses, or a fantasy beast- we are talking the same thing and don’t want us caught on wording. we all have roughly the same idea. @Klexe- if the character is in a unit of 5 or more models it can’t be stomped and it goes against the unit. It also …
