  • I think Chosen were great when the spam of small units was possible, I also played it with great games... Somehow I'd like to see them back on the table.... Same goes for Chosen Knights.

  • To be honest I believe that the popularity of WDG relies on several factors: - The wide range of miniatures available and the possibility to field a lot of "wow" units - The popularity of the WoC (there are more of those then brets or sand people skels) - The number of unit, allowing palyers to field "whatever they want" - The reputation to be a top army, and an easy to play one If I had to say something it is that the book, while complex, is indeed quite easy to start to play with... or that it…

  • Things are not confirmed about the update this year. It was supposed to be after the ETC, since this one was cancelled we might see no update... There are a bunch of UB tournament datas that could be used, but are those as reliable as ETC? I'd prefer to have no update this year but to focus on the new books: balancing IDs, releasing DE and who knows... maybe the next book too ? If ID and DE could go gold and that 1 or 2 more books could go in beta... I'd be ghappy to see no update this year !

  • Statistics are a dangerous tool to use from scratch. WDG are a popular army, there are 20+ WDG in the tourney... if you take a look at the weighted leaderboard you will notice that thearmy is quite well spread... and looking at the bottom you'll see a lot of WDG too... An army that can both camp top and bottom spots? I'd say it is quite externally balanced, and relies on player skills a lot. Also... take a look at the top 20 players...Many of those are "well known". Coming back to WDG players, s…

  • If Hellmaw with 4 chosen units was reliable at the current prices and that chosen were seen as underperforming globally, we could see a drop in the price of chosen and a raise of the HM (could be on the model or on the gates options). What I hope will happen is a drop on the chosen / chosen knights entries; I would expect a small raise on the maw coming with this... If chosen are cheaper, I would really try to put an infantry list back on foot

  • If I may say something about Feldraks... I'd say those are not overpowered. They are a very strong pick, but with some great weaknesses too. I played those for almost 2 years (3x6 Feldraks) and had a blast. With a good pairing I was able to win most of my games and often win big. But then there is always the failed panic test that sends an 800 points unit bak to the start or even out of the table... They are also quite expensive and if you want to spam them you dont have much other threads on th…

  • I do believe that Hellmaw is in a good spot at the moment. I did my best and raised all arguments that I had (thx to you guys) to limit the point increase on it. I still am thinking that hellmaw is not seen much because it just did not meet the WDG players's expectation. What we saw is a bunch of new players come to it because of the marvellous tool it is in a team tournament.

  • I know, but it would be a better tool to know what is played. We may think battleshrine mount is in a good spot, but I am pretty sure there is no BS used as mount for adepts or apprentices, this is something that might be looked at...

  • Just did, sorry for being late. Everything is in there. But if I may say something, the mounts could be of better use if it was more accurate. I'd like to see the mount options related to the rider. Especially for chimeras with or without wings (see if those are used for Chosen lords or only for barbarians). Also for the Battleshrine mount, it would be nice to see the use as a Master sorcerer mount or a lower one. Main concern is that I cant remember seeing a single batteshrine used as mount for…

  • For the WDG armies it is quite easy. A feldrak heavy list will probably annoy the ID players a lot. Anything else has few chances: - Infantry lists are too slow and will suffer at range before reaching melee... where the ID still are tough opponents, they are rsilient and with fewer attacks they will remain steadfast forever. - Irredeemable lists rely on fortitude, ID will melt those, not even sure that match should be clalled a "game". - Hellmaw rely n tactical deplyment and being able to surro…

  • I played 3x6 Feldraks for 2 years, and nobody else did... Now with ID out the beasts are everywhere. I do not believe they suddenly shine because they are OP, they emerge because the need to counter ID is real. The lack of chosen / chosen knights is real, but I am not surprised about it to be honest.

  • What I do believe is that the Maw is now less popular on the solo scene. It was king at some point because many players were lost against it, and if your opponenet was not familiar with it, a big score was common. On the team scene it still has a spot because it opens a lot of match-ups, you can go to the table and be pretty confident to score 10-13 points against most armies with it.

  • I will try to start a post about the current state of our book and what people see as issues / ways to solve those. Usually we are asked to deliver that before the update patch... might as well start that now since there is no EC this year...

  • The Ocho is the first tournament withthe new ID book, I believethat is the reason why WDG and especially Feldraks are that popular. I do indeed believe that Feldraks are one of the best counter to ID, and probably our best (and only?) way to get a good result in that match up. WDG being a tool vs ID also explains why portent is so rare...

  • If I could I'd remove favours. I would try to have the sin theme approached in the other way, having effects on the enemy units that are about to turn to sinners. Feldraks could use a BSB option, Path of the fallen and Irredeemable are nice. I think warriors / barbarians is where our book lacks some fun, marks are a heavy mechanic but do not really bring something to the game; those were just a protective approach for the players used to that mechanic.

  • Quote from Nasion "Demon": “If guys has mark shrine doesnt benefit from it witch is fair, but for lust mark for example it start preventing units from feign fly witch is bit problem. ” Actually the unit gains the rules as soon as more then half of it has the favour, 2 warriors are enough to allow the shrine to feign flight... it does not get strider however.

  • Biggest problem I see in our book are favours. It is too hard to balance them and make them all attractive. Some are not played, other are pretty common. If I had one proposal to do, it would be to get rid of those. And bring some units to show the presence of the sins among the army (characters, shrines, and some options for particular units). Like Forsworns could have a sloth option, chosen Knights Wrath ... But the thing is that our book is now gold, so it is not gonna happen soon... And agai…

  • Quote from Shukran: “I just reiterate, im not screaming at balance and opness. I am sad for lies about complexity budget, lies on special rules, book writing methodology that was abandoned after wdg book for a better one(stated when DL released). ” I totally understand what you mean, and was claiming that yeterday to a friend. The WDG was at the extreme limit of the "complexity budget", new books actually seem more complex. To be honest, it is sad for us but a great thing for other armies. The R…
