  • Quote from Jomppexx: “Quote from duxbuse: “Quote from Fleshbeast: “however, there would be varying ideas on how much cheaper that should be. Personally I would expect a standard R2 rat to be at least 50% cheaper than any other model in the game. ” I mean skinks, zombies, goblins, vassals, scrapings are all excellent contenders for s2, res2.But yes with a weapon / shield they likely should not be more than 3 ppm ” You think 100 scraplings at str2, res2 should cost 300 points? Sounds too cheap to …

No one unit should be mandatory. If it is, that's an issue with the book.

Quote from Giblit: “While I agree on some of the points brought up here and I feel this is a good discussion for when the new edition is being considered. Right now getting all the Armies into GOLD should be the highest priority. One of the biggest issues I had with GW was the delay between book releases and it feels 9th is in the same boat with how slow the books are being released. I understand this is a big project and understand the schedule, but this doesn't mean I have to like it. I would …

  • Quote from berti: “In the whole army there is absolutely no reason to NOT fill whole core with shooting (perhaps with addition of either vassals or slaves) and max out fire of industries. Perhaps the focus was a bit to much, wanted or unwanted to max out the eliteness of shooting. And in the same moment the whole mobile shooting on top got superb resilence. (all with infernal armor) and weapon teams on top hard target. Background is still not common knowledge. And in perfect world could be adapt…

  • Quote from berti: “Quote: “If the current immortal design is the peak of what is allowed defensively (on a unit of heavily armoured tanks whose whole point of existing is that they are good at not dying), then the unit needs to have more to it mechanically than just being defensive. Either the allowed peak defensiveness, or the unit role, MUST change if the unit is to see reasonable usage. ” Just to think about. WHY are citadel guard core and immortals special? (seems to me only because it alway…

  • Wulfgart, there has been background released for O&G in T9A. the-ninth-age.com/factions/orcs-and-goblins/ Please don't try to drag other IP's concepts into T9A; we literally cannot use them.

Quote from clorens: “It is the ES that should be based on the Native Americans and the BH should be based on the Germanic barbarians or the Vikings ” Why not several of the above at once? ID are a largely Assyrian aesthetic with vaguely Renaissance Italian geopolitics and the (USA's) Transcontinental Railroad. You absolutely shouldn't lean into unfortunate stereotypes, and cultural appropriate is always always a concern (at least for me), but "you can't include anything reminiscent of that cultu…

  • ...or it might be legal, I didn't do the math. Point is, no thumb on the scale.

  • Quote from ferny: “I'm not sure what that tells us? The original immortals were so called not because they were hard to kill, but rather because they were so promptly replaced! ” Indeed. You have laid out the one historical detail about the name "Immortals" that I felt was needed to make the cryptic puzzle fair. Feel free to disregard the rest of the article. Quote: “No mention of a mask until the comic book 300, though mention of a scarf type garment which might cover the face. No mention of wh…

  • Quote from ferny: “I mean, that is pretty cryptic...what use is a whispering mask? How does a mask which whispers make them immortal? ” That's the right train of thought, yes. How does a mask which whispers make them immortal? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortals_(Achaemenid_Empire) Edit: their actual story will make this less cryptic, but I'm curious to see if anyone can figure it out from just the Socratic method and the information in the LAB-slim book and public record.

  • Quote from ferny: “Quote from Tyranno: “Hello players! Since some problem units have been identified in the conversations so far, we have decided to periodically (so as not to overwhelm you all) open threads dedicated to units players seem to have the most concerns about. These will be structed as questionnaires, just say which of the following phrases applies to you, and possibly a little extra. -The unit is balanced -The unit is Flavourful -The unit is too Powerful/OP -The new Whispers of the …

  • Quote from ferny: “I've not seen this raised yet, but just checked the maths as it was a build I was planning to try... Was it intentional to invalidate two tanks and a titan in the same list? The rock crusher has gained fires of industry 2, but that doesn't cause an issue unless you're also running lots of guns. It was possible before, but despite the price drop on the titan, double tank going up 30 (plus possible weapon choices - but they don't affect the conclusion) means that they don't all …

  • Doesn't this apply almost equally to all chariots in T9A? If they're useful on the battlefields, they can be assembled there. (Only BH specific part is that their Chariots have Forest Strider, which... that is a bit silly)

  • Tree Frog: If you want to use it, use it the way I did: in a Skink Captain Deathstar. Five Skink Captains with paired weapons in a Tree Frog unit with a Plaque Priest behind them. Chaff for days if need be, but also a unit that strikes first with 20 attacks with hatred and poison. Oh, and the actual second rank of skinks. It's adorable. Not really especially good, but adorable.

Quote from baldargent: “Is the seat of authority a good option ? . IS it normal not to be tall?(or stompable). I find it a pity that it does not give +2 in armor And Can WE putt it in dwarf unit? ” Good option I leave to others. Normal? It's weird enough that not sure. Not +2 armour is to make it worse than Shieldbearers (they get copters, combat platforms, ambush and vanguard. We tried to stay away from those capabilities) It can join dwarf units.

  • Quote from JimMorr: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Can we give the LAB team credit for putting this rule on units that will want to charge? ” The thing that worries me is "Units consisting entirely of models with this rule (...)". This is clear exclusion of units joined by a single model without the rule. A warplatform probably. Maybe even some of the characters. Or hulks if we are going to get them mixed into our blocks. And design guidelines stated clearly that our blocks will not be able to fight…

As it currently stands, you could get 3x40 raa in core in the current book who can't fight their way out of a paper bag with their current stats. It can be enchanted, and the peak performance of an Infernal Weapon with an enchantment (and pr…

"We want the big blocks to be combat blocks, we've got some ideas on how to make that work... Issue: Charging with a deep unit is hard. Solution: THIS" makes more sense as the design process than "dum de dum... I know, let's make the big blocks better at charging! That'll solve everything!", right? ” except... charging with deep units isn't hard u…
