  • Can we keep this in the general discussion threads please?

  • Juvenile would be a good term. Fits for both terms haha.

  • Quote from baldargent: “Hum .i know that i will say some idiocies. But well.with this questionnaire ,it's impossible to tell where is (for me the) true problem of this unit. Immortal are good, but they dont bring us answers which aren't be answered by out Book. Can i Say more on this thread ,or maybe Can continue to argue? ” You can bring your question to the "ID general" thread, and more people will be able to discuss it there.

Quote from DanT: “No. He thinks the book is structurally biased against them.He thinks they can't/won't be usable until that is changed. He is partly right of course, this is not dis-similar to comments I have made going back to the first release. But either way, this is important context to his (and others') feedback on immortals. They are objecting to the eliteness in a vacuum, NOT making statements about the internal competitiveness or roles of the immortals. This is a crucial difference, and…

Quote from DanT: “@berti Perhaps you could at least make it clear in the immortals thread, that while you oppose making immortals better, you don't think they will be used under the current design. That is meaningfully different to the feedback you have given currently, and makes it clear to the team that you think there is a problem to solve, even if you don't want immortals to be improved to solve it ” This feels like a paradox. Unless you mean that only making them cheaper should be the optio…

  • Quote from Sparkutas: “Quote from Tyranno: “Because the Mongols either shot them to bits first, or used psychological warfare against them. ” More or less yes and they even used rivers to kill enemy, so as I said: lots of different weapons, but still they didnt have problems with spears. Quote from Tyranno: “The big problem is getting the horse to charge. No matter how well trained your mount is, if you try to force it to run into a wall of spikes, it won't do it. ” Ok, aknowledged. Cavalry NEVE…

  • Quote from Col. Tartleton: “As to chariots, the horses that pulled chariots were primitive. You can't just compare a bronze age pony to a medieval charger. Thousands of years of selective breeding, training, conditioning, and equipment took place. I mean I'm not saying that heavy cavalry should be able to defeat spears consistently in a frontal charge but I wouldn't rule it out entirely. Especially in a fantasy game. ” That kinda proves my point. The horses instinct is to not do it. And I still …

  • Quote from Sparkutas: “Hussars did it in almost every battle and sometimes they even charged fortified camps with success, so excuse me, but your NEVER doesnt sound very convincing. Its hard to believe that no one else did that.Mongols were mostly cavalry with many kinds of weapons and somehow they didnt have problems with enemy's spears. ” Because the Mongols either shot them to bits first, or used psychological warfare against them. The big problem is getting the horse to charge. No matter how…

  • Grimbold is right on the money. Infernal Engine with the Steel Juggernaut Upgrade if you are on a 100x150 base and probably the Ether Cloud is the best at reflecting it. If it's on a round base, the Titan Mortar with Ether Cloud is probably your best bet.

  • Quote from Sparkutas: “Spears are useless, because any decent cavalry has longer lances. ” phalanx-2.jpg I would hate to see the wobbly lance that is longer than THAT!

  • Hello players! Since some problem units have been identified in the conversations so far, we have decided to periodically (so as not to overwhelm you all) open threads dedicated to units players seem to have the most concerns about. These will be structed as questionnaires, just say which of the following phrases applies to you, and possibly a little extra. -The unit is balanced -The unit is Flavourful -The unit is too Powerful/OP -The new Whispers of the mask rule is more complex to play with o…

Quote from 20phoenix: “I've taken Barding instead of Shields on the Lancers which seems made for using 2H weapons and keeping your 3+ save. Unless I'm missing something? Karkadans seem funny - they're on the list to try! ” You're right on the money there. It was added to the army because their colossal two-handed lances were making combats weird. But they work just as well with paired and great weapons. They are. Hard to make work (they WILL lose if something successfully charges them), but when…

Quote from 20phoenix: “I need to register to the Makhar podcast as I listened to it when I was cooking before and missed chunks. Sweet! It was honestly the most fun podcast I have been on. Defence and agility is unchanged on the GW Lancers since they have barding and the Gyula has Spirit of the Herd. I'm unsure what you mean in the second half of the point - can you clarify? I was referring to the one less armour in combat as lower defence. Because I have used GW versions and you can really feel…

Quote from 20phoenix: “After listening to a Slannrat podcast where there is a question in the quiz about Makhar and Colin Power was unable to answer as he hadn't read the book, I realised I myself hadn't taken a look at it either. ” I had hoped that the Makhar discussion podcast would have been inspiring for this. Oh well haha. A few things: -I don't like Great Weapons on Knights. Sure it's cheap, but you are in effect paying to cut their defence and gut their Agility stat. They are, in my eyes,…

Quote from berti: “There was enough clear claims, but they were shouted down by Tyranno and partly got deleted because of "wrong army forum". ” Perhaps if fewer posts contained either venom or bonkers conspiracy theories, much fewer would have been removed. Quote from berti: “"boring" is a strawman argument in my opinion. A unit is not boring, when it is basically defined by it´s stats and not heaps of special rules. In my opinion claims of making units not "boring" is another way to claim power…
