  • Good point re the rule being similar to the magic phase... maybe we should get rid of the magic phase as too random? (I’m joking) Incidentally I really like the design/rule. I would hope the base had more than AP(0) though as it should align to powder weapons from EOS. Doesn’t need as big of an AP buff in boosted then, if any.

  • Agree. Small elite infantry should be something that requires skill to use effectively. Just pushing them into another unit’s face shouldn’t be a victorious strategy.

  • Quote from arwaker: “Let us please not call it Res2, because this is certainly not appropriate for many things in the book. Let us please stick with a simple Res-1. ” But that implies it would be across the board... I think we all understand what Res2 means and that it would be primarily applied to our big blocks. R-1 on the Abom or Hulks would need significant balancing...

  • And I don’t dislike that. You are, off course, assuming that a Res 2 rat can have a Str 3 attack. I don’t see how that works as physical strength and durability usually go hand in hand. Those same elite units which need to double down on the kill count generally don’t really care about S2 attacks (Elves aside). Any other horde army totally ruins us as they will have similar body count but better stats and I don’t think we’ll be allowed to have bodies cheap enough to justify that trade off if we …

  • incidentally, I really hope this rule doesn’t mean Res 2 is incoming as base for rats (slaves sure, but not our RAA equivalent and above). Res 2 becomes a problem for characters as you need some way to protect them (though a character as a group of rats with 10+ wounds also achieves this). I feel like the churning mass of rats is more aligned to being very easy to hit but difficult to actually mortally wound. Essentially making something like DS2 or similar more likely as the stats become less a…

  • Quote from Bogi: “Yes the CR benefit is something that is needed to counteract the res 2. Without this rule res2 would be very hard to play around. Old school hammer with units attacking in one rank made more tactical sense in the hammer and anvil tactics. Now the combat is so damaging that you can't charge a vampire lord in to help zombies and skellies. This rule would make sense for VC and is sooo needed sometimes. I played VC in recent years and often and it was an exercise of calculating com…

  • Have you got any batreps we could look at or a bit of a blurb about how you prefer to play?

Quote from Ciara: “Quote from Fleshbeast: “I’m still keen for an Aged Oak with M0 / Res 7 and a large buff aura to represent an Oak tree spreading its branches and shading an area to darkness. Fighting under the Boughs: Friendly models within 18 inches of Aged Oak receive Hard Target (-1 To be Hit?) when targeted by ranged attacks from outside the aura. Enemy Units outside the aura must use a minimised roll when rolling for charge distance when charging units effected by this aura. ” Just an ide…

  • The Skarath would make a great flightless dragon though! Hmmm, not much conversion required to get it foresty either...

Quote from Just_Flo: “And would make SA players cry for the head of who ever gave it to you and not to them ” We could have our own version of “HBE bathing in the tears of SE” but instead of getting everything SA were asking for we’d only be getting one thing... yeah, I’m still grumpy about that.

Quote from CariadocThorne: “@Firthunands91 I just want to reiterate this. It's not necessarily even about getting MORE tools to deal with single models (although I do think we could use a couple more), but rather about spreading the effective counters around the book a bit more, like making even a single shooty unit effective against them. ” It’d be interesting to get a banner of poison +1. Put it on sentinels or Maidens to get 5+ poison hits. Pathfinders for poison with decent AP etc etc. Would…

  • Quote from JimMorr: “Quote from berti: “This rule is propably only on the units designed to be in big blocks. ” You are probably right. Which means our characters / meatgrinders will die really fast, the opponents will have little choice but to focus on them. But we shall see. ” True, but hopefully they will either have decent protection and hence require a large number of attacks to kill, or be cheap enough that it doesn’t matter. I’m hoping for the former as then the opponent actually has a de…

  • That is a huge rule! Also semi-spoilers keeping friendly fire into combat. supports WarPlatform play while also putting a massive target on their back. Makes getting a flank against pretty much anything even more of a payoff. I like it.

  • I really like how you’ve got them spread out more at the back. Really steps into the theme of everyone wanting to be at the front of the wild hunt!

  • Yeah, I really don’t like the giant symbol-helmet they seem to put on everything these days. Even the latest for Warhammer The Old World have giant bull-horn standards above each of them. Looks naff and means I need to get the knife out each time.

  • Quote from darkknight109: “What luck! I'm also starting an SE collection (have played ID and OK up to this point), though mine is a Nippon army cosplaying as SE (they were the closest proxy I could think of for a samurai force - with yokai and other supernatural creatures from Japanese lore filling in for the treefolk and other non-elves - that didn't involve using homebrew rules), so I will be watching this thread with interest. Also, what is this "bubble" being referred to in this thread? That…

  • Quote from jimmygrill: “ - I really like race-specific special items, and would like their number to increase markedly (about double from now), for all books obviously. This gives enough free space for smaller, less powerful items that are mainly there for a little flavour and variance ” This. I’d be keen for a bunch of small 10pt options which add flavour as much as power. Or even a mini-version of the higher end ones for around the 30pts which would lend itself to campaign-style games where a …
