  • Myrms have fight in extra ranks, so that supports 2 styles of play really well. Darts and moderate size busses. I quite like units of 12 with musician and unhinging jaw, ran as a 4x3 dart. Clip into combats alongside other things and deliver 12 str 5 rerolling to wound attacks against large things. I also like larger units of 18 with musician champ, with lightning reflexes as a MMU take all comers unit.   • I'm starting a warrior army soon, and I was wondering if this forum has any advise for the Hellmaw? What units work best with them, and also how much of an army should need a Hellmaw for transport? How much chaff do i need in a list which can teleport? I've seen a list which makes use of double lust chariot lords with a Hellmaw which looks interesting, charging and rallying and fleeing and teleportkng around. That kind of manoeuvrability seems very fun.

  • Barbarians are a very big unit on the board. Very big, pretty slow, and a mediocre combat output. They are cheap though, and you do get a lot of bodies so the trade off isn't horrendous. But in general big slow units suffer from clipping, combo charging, monsters and cowboys and are also hard to manouver themselves. Now I'm not saying 40 barbs with GW is bad.   • Instead of a direct port of the Rangers into core, I'm suggesting that Forest Guard are moved into special and are replaced by a Hunter-esque core unit. Weapon options for Javalin + Shield (cheap, parry, ranged weapon), Great weapon (expensive-ish, high strength) and Sylvan Blades (cheap combat option).   • Do you know about all of the not initially obvious ways to use our hereditary? I didn't until someone pointed them out to me. Firstly, the front rank of enemy models that charge a unit under the effect of the hereditary take DT's. That means for a 4+ to cast spell, any monster or chariot that charges you has a 50% chance to loose a wound with no armour save. Chaff a monster or knight unit with an eagle, hit the eagle with this spell, is a frustrating combo against high cost/wound units. Secondly…

  • Honestly I love the idea for elite spears and core glaive wielders. I think it fits very well, since spears are regimented formation weapons, and great weapons are less so, and due to no centralised government it makes more sense for the core Trewi to resemble more of a Hunter than an army-man.   • I looooooooove that the Sylvan community has so many different community homebrews for the Sylvan Elves, and that most consistently target the same things, and all go about it in slightly different ways.   • Iron Orcs are tough, due to in general having high strength, high Ws and high enough durability/bodyguard that we don’t get to smash through then all before the strike back. Throw in Mikinoks and it becomes a very hard to handle unit.   • A fairly important point no-one has made yet, is that the reason Thaum has +1 to miscasts is a direct counterbalance to being able to re-roll 1's. The exact reason that 4 dicing Comet it reliable is also the exact reason why 4 dicing comet is dangerous. I don't think there is an argument to keep the re-roll 1's, and not keep the +1 to miscast.   • Yh the choice of Master Path is completely an individual choice. I haven’t used Witchcraft a huge amount, but I’d take your word for it and try it. I’m just so in love with Smite Te Unbeleiver and Whispering veil alongside auto hits. And spectral blades allowing rerolls on toxic hits.

  • I think this list would benefit from the Dark Pulpit by quite a lot. The BSB is quite expensive, but is only Res 4 5+/4++ and 3 wounds. For 110pts that bumps up to 5 wounds, with a 4+/4++. That model also grains you an extra 5 Str 5 attacks, which similarly jump to Str 6 with digestive vomit. Sure it displaces 7 additional models, but Myrms also have fight in extra ranks, and if ran 7 wide they're still getting in 15 of their own attacks.   • I don't dislike the Treefather Ancient, he has his place as is. I think the Treefather Ancient Wizard Master of Divination, plus a Cosmology adept, is the magic set up which gives us the most Blasting potential. Taken alongside a big unit of Sylvan Archers using Banner of Deception (like at least 24 models). That way you have potentially 2 Divination blasts, Ice'n'fire, and Stars Align/Altered Sight to buff the Archer unit which is essentially another Blast. I'm not saying I looooove this set up…

    Unless I’m using it strictly for unit buffing, I really like the Master Deceiver. Most of the 1 spells are a little dicey to 2 dice as an adept, but as a master that +1 to cast makes Ravenswing actually castable on 2 dice. Taking either piercing spike or poison, I think taking the personal other upgrade on the deceiver themselves is worth it. Str 5 Ap 3 5+ poison is very good.
