  • Anyway, shouldn't be any VS lexicon updates. For general VS topics.... the-ninth-age.com/community/in…c85a747433ad8eb87d2730acb

  • Quote from The Unmarked: “Any updates? ” On lexicons or on VS?

  • Quote from Dain_II: “Quote from xaby86: “@WarX Well, we could say that DH carries a chassis or artillery structure (light or heavy) and when it deploys the army it mounts the top of the weapon depending on what is in front of it. We are craftsmen, we make gears, we are strong to carry heavy materials. It could be. It also approaches the concept of chassis ID without being really equal. ” I have no idea how this idea gets past pricing guys. How do you points cost a chassis that can be turned into…

  • Quote from Omarcomin: “I think it would be way more valuable if the DH community support folks could break down this thread into separate threads. There are some very clear topics that need exploration and discussion without the constant divergences we get in this thread. Sub threads could be: 1. DH magic phase 2. DH core 3. DH warmachines 4. Costing issues As it is, this thread is just mastubatory brainstorming with no real purpose. If we could identify those problem areas in our book and focus…

  • @WarX Not every faction needs the same stats on every artillery weapon. You could adjust those in a new LAB to make the different artillery options to the same price point. Or maybe two "lesser" artillery can combine (pre-game) into a single "greater" artillery. Maybe the bolt thrower's have a better Aim stat or they shoot twice, or perhaps the cannons have "flammable" because their black powder is explosive. Lots of ways you could adjust the various artillery to meet the same price point. Anywa…

Quote from Babnik Kalenina: “the-ninth-age.com/community/in…c85a747433ad8eb87d2730acb ” I love these guys, but was reading (or maybe listening to) something that was explaining this sort of dinosaur couldn't realistically be ramming with it's round head because it would die. Science ruining fantasy, yet again...

  • Quote from WarX: “@Chronocide Nice idea, but it will not work. The problem is price spread between cheapest and most expensive. If Flame Cannon is for 145pts and Cannon for 250 allowing to switch mode from Cannon to Flame Cannon will mean steal of 100pts... ” I'm aware. You'd have to find a way to balance between the artillery types. But it's all likely to change in the new LAB anyway.

  • Changing subjects a bit. Had an interesting thought regarding artillery. For DH artillery, what about a rule where DH can select their artillery during spell selection? "Runic modular weaponry," or something like that. You'd buy the generic DH artillery, then select which weapon it was during spell selection. If the wizards have time to "forget" their old spells and learn new ones, seems like DH would have time to adjust their artillery if they built them in a way where they could modular. Would…

Quote from Wesser: “Let me dispel some myths here 1. Is the game dying? (Hidden Content)2. Does Staff listen anymore than GW? (Hidden Content) ” (Hidden Content) 1: I think T9A, as well as most tabletop games, are somewhat on hold while we wait for Covid to resolve (or for this lockdown to become officially permanent). Yes, you can play online, but that's not really the hobby we signed up for. 2: There's listening and then there's incorporating your ideas into their game. For a long while, GW wa…

  • Might be too complex, what about DH having a "Runic Computer" that "mimics" a wizard for the DH. No a real wizard, but something technologically created as an "artificial" wizard. Starts the game knowing zero spells, and then, during the game, learns any spells the opponent successfully casts and then can cast them during the DH magic phase. Perhaps an artillery misfire table instead of the miscast table. Fits in line with the DH anti-magic approach, where you pay for something that only has val…

  • Quote from Kodos der Henker: “Quote from Chronocide: “Core rulebook (aka, the only book actually needed to play) Basic SM tactical squad (contains about 2 kill teams) ” you need the Core Book and the Annual 2019 book for the rules, and the Elites book for the faction rulesand the box gives 1 Team with options (7 for the team and the other 3 with different special weapons to change them) ” You don't need the annual book, nor the elites book to play the game. The core book is totally stand alone. …

  • What about giving the DH some rule where the opponent failing to cast spells directed at DH units would actually damage the casting wizard? Like something about the DH is actually poisonous to wizards. Not dispelled, but failed to cast (like they don't meet the target number). That would make the DH MR/Hewn From Stone more useful.

  • Quote from WarX: “@RumbaRoy Simplest implementation would be to have new bound spells - 1 dice, PL 1. This way opponent auto-dispells by just assigning the dice. Only thing that matters then is the difference between number of dice. Simple, elegant, fast. ” In the interest of skipping the magic phase, those rules are fine... In the interest of actually having a magic phase, on the other hand, that doesn't sound very fun.

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “Also, for daemons, Chronocide and me made a nice summary of their description, but it hasn't been validated yet, even though we didn't write there any word that wasn't in the book :)Hang on I'll look for it. ” Wow, that was so long ago. Totally forgot. Context was taking the rather long story descriptions from the LAB and hacking them into short blurbs for like a slim book unit entry. LAB doesn't really provide direct descriptions of most daemons, so you kinda got to hunt th…

Quote from Vesemirus: “With GW there is no communication, faceless corporation that doesn't hear community, with T9A there are people, you can talk to them and still be ignored. It's much worse approach than GW... ” It's a back and forth. Sometimes I miss the faceless ignoring of the player base. Nostalgia, perhaps.
