“The thing I hate most about skeletons is you can never tell when they're smiling.” ― Stephen Blackmoore, Dead Things At long last my starting army is completely painted. Just two units to rebase onto round bases and I'm ready for my first battle. I am feeling really proud that I have managed to get them done, although having two lockdowns helped.

Just a quick update that I haven't gone anywhere. Just lurking for a bit. Between work, real life and a new edition of 40K I've been rather busy. We're going into a second lockdown here in the UK now for the duration of November and I'm setting myself the goal of finally finishing my current skeleton collection - paints and rebasing. I've also been able to show one of our club's leading WFB players the physical T9A rulebook that I had printed during the summer and I am pleased to say that his ey…

  • You could easily take the basic idea and tweak it, certainly. I'm sure someone with a better mind than me could expand upon it to be something more challenging. I guess I prefer simplicity but everyone is different. Thanks for taking the time to look at it.

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “I see, thanks. So @BlackLobster's variant is based more on ME. Which seems more practical. ” The basic idea was built around Mighty Empires but with some ideas taken from other sources. The main one being disregarding the map tile system as it was felt awkward to keep track of when a short list/summery of territory worked easier and better. The only downside that we had would come from one or two players who wanted to play everyone as though it were a league system. Normal…

  • Thanks. It's a hodge podge of ideas from different campaign systems over the years that I found works well for a fun and casual bit of gaming.

  • I posted a homebrew campaign system in that section. That's the sort of campaign I prefer. That basic leagues.

  • Quote from krzechu: “The general rules for discipline tests apply, so you choose any model in the unit to make the test, this may be the character - 5.C.a page 15. ” Aha! Thank you!

  • If a character is in a unit and you want that unit to March, does the unit roll it's own discipline or does it use the character's if better? I've been reading and I can't see it anywhere. Thanks.

“I saw thousands of them. A sea of the dead that roared like an ocean! You would have heard them screaming toward you. It would have taken days to steer them away. Killing them? I don't think killing them would have been possible.” Another busy week or so with little hobby time. Although now that the shops have opened again here I have managed to get the T9A rulebook printed and bound which will make it much easier to read and play with. I've also started painting my new skeletons. As they are m…

Not had much hobby time this week due to work and my girlfriends birthday so all I have managed to do is rebase the cavalry on some rectangular bases. When I get around to basing the models, I can cover up the remains of the old base. Also had a bit of a boo boo this week. Ordered some bases from Ebay to redo my AoS skeletons but ended up ordering 25m bases by mistake. Ordered the right ones now so itll be another week before I can sort those. The forty skeletons I got from Mantic are undercoate…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “T9A has sparkly vampires. ” Don't scare me. Please.

  • Dear sage, All my life I have heard stories of vampires. Everything from shape-shifting in to wolves and bats to drinking the blood of virgin girls. But I was always told that vampires could not be abroad during the light of day. However, my cousin, who has served in the Emperor's army claims to have seen one out at midday leading an army of the undead. How is this possible? Should he not be dust under the harsh light of the sun?

  • Redirected from my original background/lore thread: If I remember correctly, under WFB vampires were not traditional vampires as they were not affected by exposure to sunlight. A simple conceit I guess to allow them to lead armies and fight by day. But I was curious whether this is the same for the vampires of T9A or do they have some other means of protecting themselves from sunlight on the battlefield?

Thank you both. I know that in the original stories that it wasn't such a big deal but modern public image of vampire lore holds that they are destroyed by sunlight and I figure most fantasy games of some kind tend to incorporate that. I was just curious. Thanks for the link, I'll post it there.
